Stealth Step Van TOUR - FedEx Truck Converted into Tiny Home
John did a fantastic job converting this step van into his own tiny home on wheels. I can't wait to see it fully complete but this is what this type of lifestyle is all about.

I'm waiting to see someone go no windows but have flat screens that hook up to external cameras to see what is outside the rig. you could do it for every side and just switch to them on demand.
HOME DEPO... NEEDS TO STEP UP AND SEND YOU A HUGE GIFT $$$ CARD 👏👏👍🇺🇸
You suck. This was my evil plan when I was state side. I hope this video does not do well for selfish reasons lol.
Oh let him know fellow bro right here. 18D boi.
Really should have linked his insta.........
4 years of planning, 18 months of building, 4 years of military, 4 years of college, hundreds of hrs. Flight time planned. This guy sticks to his goals, no doubt he will make a good pilot and hopefully a good living doing it also. Excellent build on the cheap, makes some of the 100k conversions look like garbage. Kudos, keep inspiring and living the dream.
I am super impressed! You have a great gift. I love your build! Sure would buy a truck just to copy your build lol.
He's chasing excellence while most guys his age chase women and play video games.
Hats off to this man, a true MGTOW
I look up to this guys planning ahead of time for all this. Legendary stuff right here, college housing is expensive.. i love it!
If was single, no kids, and not married. This would so be the life for me...Simple!
Home Depot should sponsor this guy for his build and his dreams of being a pilot
I agree 100 percent
After mentioning lowes I don’t know if they will!
Probably not after he trashed their lumber.
@@ohueys1 Or they could use it as constructive criticism and not sell trash lumber.
Heck yea
He seemed so nervous at first and I love that it was the $10 backsplash that got him excited enough to really lean into the tour haha. His whole personality came out at that point. I would LOVE to see Home Depot do something cool for this man! They have a brilliant opportunity here and he more than deserves it!
I thought the same exact thing. He really just got more comfortable as they went along.

Hehehe, was reading this comment when he started on this
Only thing he is missing is security cams set up so he can see what’s going on outside! This is an amazing build!
Knowing that he is a army veteran the cameras are most likely coming. I'm a vet myself we would always talk about living like this but he actually followed thru on it
That's such a good suggestion! Have you seen those light bulb security cameras? I don't know if they'll use a lot of electricity cause they're designed for homes, but maybe he could use those cause they even swivel and lots of other features...
and a real house to live in
Is really missing a toilet
Super concerned about the wool insulation.
This guy is pure gold! I would pay him for van build consultation
He really should start a conversion company
He copied this design, didn’t come up with it himself..
I would totally hire this guy to help with my build. I have a Chinook that is in the demo stage.
@@yodo6414 better than Trent and Allie design, IMO... But he does have a much larger vehicle.
@@yodo6414 so? what's the problem? using flowless and proved design it usually is what most people do! why build every shitty ideea just for the fun of it?
This guy actually convinced me that buying an extended warranty at Home Depot was a good idea. Dude has a reason behind everything. Well done.
If you're planning to externally vibrate the thing for the next 3 years straight
haha! Seriously.
what they'll probably do is void his warranty lol
He’s so smart, therefore, becoming a Pilot will definitely happen for him!

I admire the commitment and precision of this build. This is awesome. As a UPS driver and a person who has spent 30 years in a package car, I love seeing it like this. It's so smart. He'll get away with parking places no other mobile home could. 10/10 👍
That line about the sink got me. I see so many people with mini-sinks in their vans, but with full-size pots, pans, and dinner plates, that I really questioned how they clean anything without making more of a mess or spending 10x as long.
Totally, as someone who lives in a school bus and started with a diy enamel pot as a sink that I later upgraded to a massive stainless steel one like his I can 100% attest to his statement
He had this all figured out before he even enlisted. Used his enlistment bonus to build the van and will use his GI benefits to get the career he wants while living on the cheap. Brilliant!
I guess that’s why he went army.
I have a ton of respect for the fact that he figured all of that out and put in the work to achieve his goal!
hopefully the govt doesn't fuck him over again with the GI bill like they've done in the past.
Well I didn't quite have it all figured out on day one, there was a fair bit of figuring out as I went along but thanks 😊

Does anyone else also think a FedEx van is the perfect fit for a 'stealth van' conversion? They're so ubiquitous that they're gonna blend into the scenery far more than any other van. Such a clever choice!
FedEx\DHL\UPS vans and box trucks are the PERFECT stealth vehicles if you ask me. You got tons of space on a reliable workhorse engines mostly and the best thing about it they can look on the outside like ordinary construction vehicles or something like that. If I had a box truck stealth van I wouldn't even bother to make it look pretty on the outside, just so I can spend more on the inside and still keep it stealth-ish.
Yeppers. Except that I would keep the fed part on there as well. 😁😂🤣👍
Haha. He should have kept the full name.
@@Cyborg1170 Fedex themselves probably painted over that. I'm surprised the whole logo wasnt painted over
Highly durable and safe
My favorite thing John said about his sink - just because you live in a tiny house doesn't mean you have tiny pots! great line!
This build is beyond efficient. He did such a great job w/this. Very intelligent. I truly wish him well as a pilot
This will be fantastic for him. With his money already invested in this, he can devote more money toward flight hours, which are not cheap. Not the most fuel-efficient truck, but with him living at the airport, he'll make up for that and more by not having a daily commute. Very smart.
"Just because you have a tiny house doesn't mean you have tiny pots" I love it. So true.
This dude is very likeable and is clearly passionate about his van I hope we get to see it completed.
I was thinking the same thing about him being likeable.
The resources on KZhead are incredible. People helping people. Wonderful.
If you end up going through compressors on your fridge, I found in my semi that if I put a layer of rubber like anti fatigue mat or livestock mat under it it cushions it from vibrations and virtually eliminates failure.
Thanks for the tip.
As an actual FedEx driver the way he explained his insulation and not roasting in the truck made me chuckle. Theback of those trucks in the summer without insulation is insane! So it totally made sense to add so much insulation 😄
It's pretty crazy in the summertime when the sun's shining through the windshield The cab will be well over 100° and the house part will be only in the '80s.
@@M14Jeep legit the back of those trucks are about 30° hotter than whatever the outside temp is.
I just learned recently that delivery trucks don't have AC. WTH!!! @Mre317, just want to say that I appreciate you guys.
@@availabledark oh yeah! Some do have AC but they don't really do much since again no insulation to actually retain the cool air. But I love my job, I get to be outside all the time soaking up the sunshine, splashing in puddles when it rains and making snow angels when it snows.

This is the first "tiny home" that I actually see being a viable home. They've always sounded nice and all, but this sir, this is practical. And that garage blew my mind. Truly insane build!
Most tiny home tours: "So I decided not to put this thing in and that thing in so I could have more open space" your house is 100 ft², you don't have the luxury of open space If you want it open space don't live in a tiny house! 😂

This is who I wish I’d married! 🥰
I’m not even done watching this but have to say this is the coolest build I’ve seen so far. Nicer than a lot of hotel rooms I’ve been in. 😂
"before I started, I was 4 years deep into KZhead videos". I felt that one.
This man is ridiculously smart, talented, and driven! I have no doubt he'll be a successful pilot, but I'm gonna send him good vibes anyway...his dedication is crazy! The perfectionist in me is highly impressed and the procrastinator in me is ashamed, 🤣😂!
Go check out his Instagram. He already is one and he’s killing it! ❤
@@This-Is-My-Little-Corner awesome news! Thanks for that update 👍
“The perfectionist in me is highly impressed, and the procrastinator in me is ashamed.” Well said, and my sentiments exactly.
Imagine building a regular sized house with this level of efficiency. It would feel like a mansion!
Jimmy Tambo: I spent 2+ years watching and studying tiny house, motor home and stealth home videos before building a 445SF MIL. You can get the best ideas for storage, kit layout and efficient floor plans watching these videos and studying their floor plans.
Shelves on walls, Standing Bookcases in corners... Maximize your storage inside and still look neat and tidy.
I guess I need to cut back on my 60 or so Harley-Davidson t-shirts and dozen or so sports jerseys, lol
This. I watch all these tiny home/rv/bus vids and apply their crafty solutions to my regular 1000sq ft detached home. Like, my house doesn't fit the "tiny" definition. But it's not a huge house either. If you are good with space management, you can make a small home super optimized for your personal lifestyle.
Immediately after he mentioned being a helicopter pilot, I couldn't help think, this guy is a real life version of Howling Mad Murdoch! 😂 This was an awesome build and his passion for it shows👍 I'd like to also thank him for his service🇺🇸🎉🇺🇲🎉

This guy LITERALLY has his entire life figured out. I'm envious. Good on him 🙌🏽
Trust me, he’s has it figured out since he got out of service lol
This is legitimately impressive! I love where John refused to compromise. He saw a problem and devised a solution he was happy with instead of choosing the simplest solution.

Totally Badass
He’s marines. I know that patch haha as soon as I seen it Bc it’s mine lol. Damn this is sick.
I have also watched hundreds of videos over 8 years, built my own teardrop and then 2 sailboats. This is one of my favorite stealth builds ever ! Nice work

As soon as he started describing his plan to become a heli pilot, I was like damn this guy is serious about living, and enjoying his life to the fullest. Great job on the van, and thanks to the creator for the video!
Thanks, I only have one life to live and I plan on squeezing every last drop of Life out of it while I still can. This is going to be a start of my fifth career! This recent vet is definitely going places. He's creative, witty and very thoughtful. I wish him nothing but the best fortune and I hope he lands that professional helicopter occupation.
Amazing job John. Thank you for your service and fly high
Thank you for your service! 👍👍
I did the same thing brother. US Army vet here as well. I converted an old wheelchair van into my mobile home while I also went to college for 4 years. It was by far the best time of my life. I enjoyed the freedom that I worked so hard to defend. I decked the roof out with solar panels. I paid no rent, no water bills, no electric bills. I got a scholarship through the University that I worked at and literally only paid for my own books. Could have used my GI bill but chose not too. I received my Bachelors Degree and if I ever go for a Masters then I will use my GI Bill. Brother you're in for the ride of your life. Now I live the fancy life in a flat 30 stories up in a High Rise building in Vietnam. I teach English here. But, I would give this up for the opportunity to go back to the Van Life again. You are about to experience freedom in a way you never had before. One word of caution. At night lock it up tight. Park in industrial areas. If you get a knock from the police, stay quite and completely still. Nothing says you have to answer them. Wait them out. They are far too busy to wait you out. I'm also a former police officer so my advice is sound. If you answer them, they very well could give a ticket as a minimum and or a huge fine if the vehicle is not registered as a motorhome conversion. In some states they might even tow your vehicle. So remember, You have a right to remain silent. Make sure no one can see any lights on from the outside. In 4 years I only had a police knock 2 times. Waited 10 to 15 minutes and once the coast was clear left and parked a few blocks farther down. Remember, you are free now. Stealth camping is necessary to achieve your college goal. It will do you no good if they tow your house. Your military skills are all you will need to live an amazing life of pure freedom. When I get back to the US in the future, I'm going back to the Van Life. Might even buy some property somewhere. Cheers.
Amen.smen. amen. Yay van life. Love these step vans.
You are a free man. Merry Christmas.
I suggested to online van people to buy a few acres together so they dont have to worry about where to park and have enough room for everyone's vans. Plus later, they could build a building that could house toilets and showers. Maybe even a kitchen and Fellowship hall
Give cops a great name man!! Thanks for the advice
Best custom build ive ever seen, this guy thought of EVERYTHING. The attention to detail is great
that's the military training for you.
I agree he has done really well! Loving it. Has everything you can think of! Wish I’d done this kind of thing some years back but glad ppl are doing this it’s a great way to live for single ppl esp.
This is one of the best. For me so far the best is a refurbished cheese bus someone turned into a house on wheels.
Except a toilet 😂😂😂
Big ass shower..no toilet?
You can tell these are real men. They are total monotone in speech & all about the workmanship. They're definitely not home tour type of guys. I'm waiting for them to "grunt". A man's man!
Wow, incredibly thought out and well done build. So awesome to have living space and all the recreational gear. Only thing would add is some stealth security cameras outside so I can monitor weather, activity, etc. 👏🏼👍🏻
This man needs to make a business out of this, people would be waiting in line for one!
Especially for mid 30k. If he built it for 25k, he would make a good profit if he got a team to help reduce production time and could buy the vans in more bulk.
@@maesterdraconaskevin3585 Lol mid 30k he said he has almost 2 years into it plus 25k. He would need to sell this for 100k+
@@CommoditySC facts. lol
@@maesterdraconaskevin3585 If his goal was to build these to make it possible for others, he'd still have to charge much more. I'm guessing he could bring his time table down a significant amount, though. The thing with Vanlife is it kinda has to fit you. It'd be difficult for others to deal with his limitations. (No windows. High emphasis on entertainment. 3 doors to get inside living space.) In my opinion it's perfect, especially not being as tall as him lol.

I recently figured out why I love these specific types of video so much - it's because these individuals represent and embody the amazing American Spirit.

Same here man, I'm a Fedex Ground driver as well. He did his thing on this!
"you realize i'm gonna be living in a parking lot" is, I think, one of the most profoundly accurate things I've heard a van-lifer say. People have this notion that it's going to be scenic nature shots and views of some valley... when in reality it's a lot more of home depot and walmart parking lots. The no-windows approach is really the way to go for year round living. very smart approach and very well thought out build.
You can drive anywhere you want what you mean my friend does this at the beach!! And around the country ...u sound like a hater
bless your heart. I don't see how you got hater vibes from anything I wrote, but maybe you should re-read that. I think the guy who built this is a genius and was complementing the build. not only that, I think he's being very accurate and forthright in stating that full time van life isn't all scenic views. I'm glad your friend does have great views though. if you watch more of Jared's videos you will see he also says that his time as a van lifer had plenty of urban living and not just what gets usually posted on the 'gram. I'm always in amazement at what these guys and girls build. that's why I watch all these tours.

I loved the practicality, the planning, the simplicity, the honesty. He should be proud. It’s comfortable and beautiful. The lighting when the door opened. The garage. Full sink, shower, height of the space. Well done.
I didn't see a toilet. (May have missed it.)
Great job, i love the finishes, backsplash, sink, and design of it.
Bravo on your new home and best of luck at school! Thank you for your service.
These are the kind of people I appreciate. Reasonable, logical and practical. This guy is going places.
no.......he is driving places😂
@@weedpuncher036 soon to be flying places
I watch a lot of these, and some look very much like a delivery truck, with the windows covered with louvered hinge covers to hide the windows and allow them to be open in bad weather. If I were younger, I would have to build one like that that was totally self-sufficient. My camper is, however, there is nothing stealthy about it...
Amen
Literally
My favorite feature of this van is the unassuming exterior. It actually makes the interior much more valuable imo.
That's how to make a proper wow factor. You see a crappy old FedEx van all scraped up, then look inside and boom, million dollar RV.
This is absolutely fabulous. Congratulations to you. I am in awe of your talent.
Best build I've ever seen. Great job! I hear and see genius!!!
John is a great example of American exceptionalism: a smart, talented man. Best wishes for your continued success, John.
I agree. This man is genius.
I don't think that word means what you think it means
This dude has it figured out (including his career path and how to afford it!) A very cool conversion and his extensive research has paid off big time. I wish him nothing but the best. He's a great example of a willingness to make sacrifices to get where you want to go. My old school grandfather would be very proud of him. If the van comes up for sale, I'd love to get a chance at it!!!
"...of a willingness to makes sacrifices...." WHAT SACRIFICES???? He lives better than most people, on a quarter of the cost! Other than a washer/dryer and a few other things, he is certainly not 'sacrificing' much of ANYTHING as far as I can tell. (Long hot showers, for two? A huge library of books, an easy chair? A fireplace or garden? Maybe.) But I have a feeling this man doesn't have the time for lots of things because he is too busy living a life that is already very, very FULL! Congrats to him!!! I wonder if he feels he is 'sacrificing' anything doing what he has planned! John, your comments, please!
I believe the military shaped this man as it does many of men and women. Very impressive. way2go !!! God bless you
@@paulortiz2035 as far as the house goes there's very little sacrifice going on there. But as far as money goes what I did to get it and when I'm prepared to do for my low paying dream job this plenty of sacrifice. I've been debt free for over 7 years and will continue to do so even after college and that takes a lot of sacrifice.
@@paulortiz2035 Um, maybe I'm missing the sarcasm, and agree with your praise of him, but I think you may be missing TripleThreat's point. The sacrifices he made are how he got to do what you describe, so he could live as he does on a quarter of the cost and continue to pursue his dreams. He didn't waste the enlistment bonus, he invested his free time in learning about what we wanted to do, and then he devoted his time to execute on his plan in a way that met his finances and objectives. We need more people like this guy in our country.
One of the cleanest and most efficient builds I've seen. Exactly what style I've been wanting to pursue a build for.
No toilet though?
WOW! Just from the front door light and doors, that is it! Beautiful build
i love how pumped this guy is about his future... thank you for your service.
As a former UPS driver I have to say that these things are actually fun to drive, especially the manual transmission. Great build!!!
Thank you for your service.
Great job. Thank you for sharing
Wait did I miss the toilet? His enthusiasm had me smiling the entire video :)
I was going to ask the same thing!!
@@fernrobinblanc1756 The bucket in the shower... ?
Maybe he is going to buy one of those small toilets for campers
Same, lol that’s the only thing left that he needs lol
I swear that’s what I was gonna ask lol
I would love to see a follow up tour once his build is fully done. I’m super impressed by this build, good luck to him and his endeavors.
Amazing build! Thank you for sharing😊
Best van conversion EVER!😊❤ It’s so impressive in every detail.😊
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! MOST DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST BUILDS I'VE EVER SEEN AND I'VE BEEN WATCHING VANLIFE VIDEOS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. I WANT TO THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE!

He out did himself. Amazing home. 90 gallons of water is unbelievable. Bathroom, microwave wood work is beautiful.
So true.....but I didn't see any toilet....only a bucket in the shower or did I miss it?
@@texasgirl6000 Maybe he will still install it, he said he’s not finished yet.
@@texasgirl6000 that was going to be my question
Placement of the WC and black water tank? Without those two items, all the insulation in the world, all 40+ inches of smart TV and all that extra seating, it’s my opinion all you got is a man cave on wheels and no windows!
@@billywalik6411, and what's wrong with that?
Thank you for your service, Sir!!
What an awesome build. I'm so inspired that I can't wait to build one. I'm definitely going to use a lot of the same ideas.
I love when people have well thought out goals. It’s definitely inspiring to see what he’s done to that FedEx truck. Those two years of college are gonna fly by.
i wish his van was called Ex-Fed. lol
First, I want to thank you for your service to our country!!!! To bad more people don't mention this to 3!!! Your an example of what makes this country soooo great!!! Good luck with school and your becoming a flier; not that you need it. This man is as OCD (Perfectionist) as I am. Thank God!!! Everyone makes me feel like it's a bad thing!!!
I am in love with this guy. I love the way his mind utilized every area with little to no wasted space. His 4 year plan went deep. Good luck in college, you are awesome.
