  • That starter is the real star of the video!!! Those are some snappy hydraulics

  • The Massey is absolutely worth it. The hydraulic system alone is worth way more than the asking price. When something sits, things will seize a little. The more you work it, the more it will pay you back. With those Masseys the High range usually makes it more difficult to shift in and out of gear. Definitely change out all the filters in case they fragment from sitting a long while. If they do fall apart, they will clog all kinds of critical passages. Why it took so long to start was probably the valves and rings freeing up over time and working properly. Soaking the cylinders for a while previous to starting would have helped. Congrats on your new tractor, I hope.

  • Thats a Perkins AD3.152. Ive got one in my MF 135 and it is a fantastic motor. Pulls fantastic for its size and sips on fuel. Perkins still makes this motor so parts are very available. You can get a full rebuild kit for about $1000. They dont start worth a crap below freezing, investing the $50 for a perkins ijtake heater is well worth it. Cold weather you should start it at half throttle, found that tid bit in my tractor manual and its helped a lot.

  • I’d go for it. Even if you have to split it and put a clutch in it, the price is right. And as others have said, it will still bring what you paid for it.

  • I used to use a MF50 for loading 'organic fertilizer'. After a few hundred tons in a day operating the clutch in my wellies, I was left with a bruise on my instep. Thankfully most loaders now have shuttle gearboxes. It is still running, but only occasionally used to shift Oak Logs now. Those Perkins engines are always good first time starters.

  • The lever to the left is your forward reverse mechanical shuttle, the middle is 1,2,3 and to the right is high low. Typical massey pattern is to the left and up for reverse, that is locked out on the shuttle trans. Could be a 202 or 30, I have a 30B it has the newer Dash and sheetmetal otherwise looks very simular.

  • The loader is worth we’ll more than you paid for the whole tractor. I bought a loader like that one off a MF 165 Industrial with a blown motor. It hooked right up to my MF 175.

  • I have a mf158 at home and currently restoring it... a while ago the shifter for the transmission was stuck and it only had reverse, the HI/LOW was the only way to make it idle without the tractor reversing and this happens if the main shifter is old and gone out of alignement with the forks, it's not hard to fix, just got to unbolt the steering casing which also can make it more easy to see why it's not turning the wheels . For the clutch it's really not a big deal on the MF, they are quite simple to split up if it really needs to go this far. Cheers from France Love your content 👌👍

I currently have a Massey 50B series backhoe loader. they are easy to work on. I split mine and put a new clutch in it by myself. Great engine the 3 cylinder Perkins, you can not kill them. I would buy that 35 massey in a heart beat for that price . Good luck, shes a good machine . Colin in Albany, Western Australia :-)

I'd like it so I could add a bolt on style Backhoe to it. I'm 66 years old but I'd easily split it if that's what it takes to fix or repair the clutch. I also own a hydraulic wrecker so I'd be easier to do. 😊😊

  • Clutch is stuck due to moisture of the disc between surface of pressure plate and flywheel. Try to force it to slip by adjusting out free travel and start engine and either hold brakes or put agaiinst tree. Then snatch high low into gear with shuttle in forward and main transmission in 6th. Have to snatch high low quick into high. Replacing the clutch will still be necessary and not all that expensive.

  • The loader alone was worth $3000 10 years ago. I’ve got the Perkins 4.236 version of this tractor, the industrial tractors have higher volume hydraulic pumps, that’s why the bucket moves so quickly. They’re still around for a reason.

    @SuperDriver379@SuperDriver3794 ай бұрын
  • The fuel pump needs to losen up. I am guessing the metering valve is sticking. I had this problem with a case backhoe. The metering valve needs to be in the WOT position for the engine to start. When you pulled the shut off the metering valve did not go back to wide open throttle. It will losen up in time. I added essential lube to the fuel tank and my starting problems are gone.

  • I don't know if anyone has given an answer about this tractors model yet. But from what I could find about it is that it's a MF 2200 with a model 200 loader. The squared off fenders with recessed front work lights & rear brake lights, the recessed design on the loader arms as well as the rear wheel hubs all match the photo of the 2200 I found. The only difference between this one and the one in the photo is the one in the photo has a back-hoe attached and is missing the brake lights. This one doesn't have a back-hoe and all of its' lights seem to be intact and in good shape. So mystery solved, it's a MF 2200, made from 1965 - 1970 and came with either a 2.2l Continental 4-cylinder gasser or a 2.5l Perkins 3-cylinder diesel and was rated for 42hp. :)

  • first comment DON"T USE EATHER ON A PERKINS DIESEL!!!! Perkins uses a precombustion chamber , eather will blow the covers of the chambers and can crack or damage the head or bend rods! Clutch-- with clutch disengaged and trans in gear rock the tractor back and forth old organic clutches when left will tend to bind to the flywheel rocking or draging short distiances back and forth will tend to free them ,if you get to rowdey you can tend to brake the disc off friction material, if the throw out fork shaft is stuck try heating with a torch and then let cool till warm to touch then apply some pb blaster and let cool all the way then hit end of shaft with a brass /lead hammer several times also that should be what was considerd a comerical model and should not have a pto or 3 pt hitch
