This video is the 6th vivariumupdate of this now very lush piece of forest with an animated pond! This environment has been proved to be a hotspot for animals such as a juvenile tadpole; for it to grow up as an adult toad! The video also features the hunting ant colony Myrmica rubra inside!
Thank you for watching and have a fANTastic day!

I am thankful for these creative people sharing their work! Hats off to you sirs.
who’s also waiting for the next video
Mee
me
He is hibernating
Me
Don't worry, there will be a new one soon. We just finished the application for YCombinator so he has time to edit this epic super long video. Will be out in a day or two.
The isopods stealing from the worker ant is like robbers stealing a granny's purse
hahahah nice one! :D
More like grannys stealing a wolf’s prey.
You are my favorite youtuber, I am sorry to break up the whole 222 comments thing.
So your telling me that tadpole survived and got that huge without your input?! Now that is truly is impressive. There must be an abundance of food, you really did do your homework well to insure predators had prey. And the Prey still look like they have strong numbers and no fear of them going extinct. And to top it all off, you constantly have new life just showing up out of nowhere! This vivarium really doesn't stop amazing me. How are the fish surviving without help? I have so many question, might need a update on the biological life map, everything is so expanding so fast.
Can’t wait for another video, especially how you going to handle hibernation
Wow a Nordic ants video within a week of the last one that's crazy
Ikr??? Hahaha thanks for watching:D
this Chanel is amazing keep it up!
favorite channel bar none, can't wait to retire and tend to one of these all day
Omg thats the epic dream! Why not two of them? B)
You can add some ponerines like ponera coacrtata or hypoponera even cryptopone.
keep up the great content my friend and keep making wonderful videos to show us
Waiting for the next video, this is so cool. Have you ever thought of doing live streams of the vivarium?
You could get one of those 2m tanks, make it a desert terrarium and add Messor barbarus into it, you could watch them scavenge for hours for seeds, it could make some great time lapses!
True! Maybe for the future
various species of Darkling beetle would be cool to see in a desert viv
Mr toad is a handsome guy with serious ninja skills...l think he is a survivor. As a child I lived by lake Okanagan, and every year would catch tadpoles so I could watch them transform and let them go again. I have never seen isopod gang up on an ant before...that was an epic battle! Loving it all.🖤🇨🇦
Thank you Tamarra! Hahahahah omg I did the same with the tadpoles in my area :D and yes those isopods were notorious xD hahahaha
3:17 same
This is one of the best channels I know 5star rating
Thank you:D!!
Wow you’ve never noticed my comment before this is so amazing
Underrated channel. Much better than antscanada
Thank you
Ik
I love isopods
Me too!
Top quality content as always! Seeing toads, salamanders and slow worms all in one vivarium is crazy cool, never mind all those inverts! If I had one of these I'd be watching it for hours! Love the content man
Thank you! :D so nice
Whats wrong with inverts?
@@Mothobius Nothing?
@@mitchl5220 In your comment you said never mind all those inverts? Not trying to accuse you of anything I just thought it because the amphibians and the reptiles were the only thing that mattered to you.
@@Mothobius I was saying how entertaining those things were alone and that wasn't even including all the inverts which make the tank even more entertaining
7:48 pls let that be Anochetus. Really love that species
Come on man
Hahahahah yeah thats a hard species to get xD
@@nordicants6232 i don't think we would see much action from them if we added them to the vivarium 😂
I am curious to see the frog will change the vivarium. Can't wait for the next update!
he is feasting on isopods! He might be the cure for their growth
@@nordicants6232 nice!
Having such a big piece of wood I think it would be awesome to add a colony of Colobopsis truncatus, the ants that block their nest entrance with their heads
I LOVE truncatus and really want them in. As fast as I can get my hans one them :D
Great video dude! So awesome that you keep uploading content! ^^
Thank you my friend! Your channel is the best ;)
I bet soon there will be huge ant wars. Making vivarium war 1
that isopod colony is a brazilian fabela, and the ant was carrying it's property... yeah thats a really accurate comparation
I have 3 ant colonies, 2 sidewalk colonies and one carpenter ant.
Prison rules state those isopods must be shived for attempting to steal the myrmica's food lol 😆
Hahahahah lol
cant wait until the next one
Will be out this weekend. It's gonna be great.
I’m a little bit jealous of your vivarium haha, it’s fantastic!
Awhh make you own! Thank you :D
Nordic Ants I’ve made my own in an around 300 liters aquarium, but it isn’t as diverse yet. :)
@@mercenary96 What *I did absolutely not edit it*
@@mercenary96 Yes, it is. I bought it on Blocket which basically is the swedish version of craigslist.
I believe that 1 of the species of fish (if there is 1 species) is the Common Minnow ,Phoxinus Phoxinus
Hmmm not sure! Maybe and thanks for the input :D
You should add termites to the new vivarium to and maybe a test tube started colony so they don't take over everything. :)
How do you keep the water suitable for life? doesn't it become full of bacterias? Also how do you prevent the growth of hazardous funguses?
YOU ALRIGHT DUDE 🤔
I love your setup!
Great Video as always
Thank you Riccardo :D
Need more vivarium videos ! Your channel is so entertaining to watch. Funny, and educational thanks for sharing!
Why are you not uploading ???
Maybe bring in some camponotus ants. The giants of the undergrowth I guess lol.
:( no update in a long time I have been doing the same thing as your tropical vivarium really inspired me a year back and since im from england when you did the european one i decided i should give it a go I have only got species I have found outside (except from the 2 ant colonies (lasius niger and lasius flavus)) cant wait for the next update liam
You make ac look like a toddler playing in a sandbox lol
@Itsjusta Hemi lol
@Itsjusta Hemi ac will never compare to Nordic ants
@Itsjusta Hemi it’s just that ac does a lot of bad things to his colonies for clout
@Itsjusta Hemi Yeah, he attracts new people to Antkeeping but his channel used to be more informative instead of clickbait tactics and being over dramatic about some things
this is so beautiful
U should put shrimp in the water part
I love this terrarium man, so much diversity & your content keeps me engaged! MORE UPDATES please ❤️🐜
loved to see this vivarium so plenty of life! waiting for the next video!
Thank you
Cant wait for the next one, hopefully your studying pays off
Studying biology so I am sure it will for the channel at least ! ;)
Waiting
Plagiolepis? Maybe? Just a guess since they are really small might be temnothorax or leptothorax
Its lepto ;) hahahahha Plagi is quite dangerous to have with other species no?
I don't know just know that they are really small and can have many queens lol
For 2 meters, you make it seem like it’s a lot bigger. You do such a great job.
I am curious, this summer, will you make a new vivarium or make updates about this one? Can't wait for more videos!
Update on this one!!
@@nordicants6232 Sounds great! I'm looking forward to it.
I think the addition of a harvestmen would be very interesting. there are many European varieties as well!!
This is really cool but i couldn't have one cuz every time a frog or anything else dies besides snails and a few ants (not the whole colony) i would be sad and any of the other small bug i wouldn't be sad about
I love your channel, keep up the great work!!!
Thank you!! :D
@@nordicants6232 no problem UwU
Yo keep it up bro my ant colony died not to long ago so I’m just watching your vids until i can find another
You should get a rain simulation so run off shapes the environment more.
I loved the video, I always love growing tadpoles, they are amazing animals. I love seeing your amazing vivariums, I can't wait to see the next video, and to see an update on your other one.
Tadpoles are super cool! :D thanks
Your vivarium is amazing. As always, love the vid.
Thank you! :D
What an amazing vivarium
Aww thanks! :D
You should add a praying mantis. Also can you differenate the big vivarium with the trantuala, crab and yellow salamander in the 2 meter tank with a title different from the other videos. Thanks great vid btw.
Great video! I have a few questions if you have the opportunity to answer I would be happy :) 1. Are you not afraid that the ants will be too many for the terrarium to hold (since you have 3(?) species in there), and how do you keep them from escaping? 2. How do you combat mould? 3. Could you make a video on how you construct one of these terrariums? I'd love to try and make one with native species of insects and plants :) Thanks for an amazing video!
Thank you sm
@@nordicants6232 Thank you for such fast response! When you use the olive oil, where do you apply it? just around the top or all over the glass? Would it hinder your from viewing if you did? And it would be great if you could keep the creatures from climbing all over the glass, and instead stick to the plants and substrate :P I am looking for an aquarium too try this out, you have been* such an inspiration! * you still are! :)
this is amazing, but i think there is one more predator that should be added. i was going to say newt, but that would be too much competition of the salamanders, so i think that a europen wall lizard, or some arboral small lacerta should be added. alos, i think some more arboreal insects should be added too!
don't think it is warm enough for a lizard and also none are native to sweden
You should add crawfish, hermit crabs,
Super awesome vids!
Guys don't worry, he's not dead, let's wait a bit more he's preparing some things
You called it!! xD
Love your vid
Im love you videos
Thank you! Love you guys too
love these videos
I love these videos so much. Are there any other vivarium series on youtube with this level of biodiversity?
Coming back this summer, no worry!!
@@nordicants6232 AWESOME 😎
@@nordicants6232 yessss
Dude!! i have an amazing idea so , grab a hella lot dried leaves and just scatter them all across the enclosure, that is gonna be super interesting!
Where’d ya go???!!!!!
he will be back in summer
Hey Nordic Ants, love the videos but I was wondering where you got your hammer head worms from?
ever thought of adding some fish to the water? Maybe guppies or other small fish you could find in a local freshwater body? edit: oh nvm you already have them
Watch the video :D
@@nordicants6232 ı just did :D I have a question btw, did all the other tadpoles die?
I only put one in!
A Solenopsis fugax would be cool. It’s native to Sweden and very small. But maybe it would be a threat to the other ant species.
I would love to have them! Had them in my first european vivarium before the tropical one and they were awesome :D
hibernation?
What program do you use for timelapse on your phone? Or is it just the stock camera app? Anyways a pretty dam solid video as always! ps: already waiting for a new video! :)
I want to try what you are doing it seem cool and exciting. I just have one question. do you ever have problems with over feeding your predators?
so the toad survived afterall - its just shy.
Are you ever going to add another toad to the vivarium so that your toad doesn't think that it's the last of its kind? What about more aquatic plants?
More aquatic plants are incoming!! Hmm I think I will simply put the frog back outside next summer
@@nordicants6232 Sounds like a brilliant plan, I approve!
First time watching your videos and a beginner to the vivarium building but I would like to ask can I ask more fishes into the water area if I were to build a vivarium like this?
keep making videos!
Coming back in summer! :D
Do you still have the vivarium in Asia? Sorry I forget which country.. If you still have it will it get updated?
id happily give up TV if I had a viv this varied but if I ever had to move house I have no clue what I would do with it
How do ypu hibernate the vivarium?
Make it cold in winter
@@Versuffe i know but how?
The road should be careful because of the Myrmica ants.
Yeah! Dont think they can hurt him too much though
Toad
Hey how big is the terrarium
Please introducé a woodlouse hunter spider the Are Made to eat isopods net they look kinda Scary too😂😂
Hahaha aight will try to findone! :D
Well i have another idea for spiecies of ant in this tank - Formica fusca/lemani they are peacefull ants and they look cute Or more agressive Formica cinerea :D
I have a 55 Gallon vivarium and have to use a lid to keep leopard slugs from climbing over the top. I use an oil barrier and it keeps everything else in. I know you keep the top off of yours, so do you have this issue as well? If so how do you combat it?
Is the new species gonna be some kind of temnothorax species? Since you said they are small and could live in acorns
What is the blue-green plant at around 3:21?
Not too pressure you or anything, but do you know when you will upload next. Keep up the great content
This summer at the least💙
@@nordicants6232 yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm, where have you gone friend?
You should add a mantis
Dream. Will see if can get one next year :D
Wow
Guess new ones are Temnothorax sp. I have an idea please find or try to get Lasius emarginatus colony they are so cute they look like Lasius niger but with red thorax (if mistakes sorry Im from Poland) 😂 as I know these ones have the best vision and speed and love to live in dry rocky terrain
I know emerginatus! They are really cute... but can grow into immense colonies... would be unsustainable in the tank :(
@@nordicants6232 ok.. At least I tried.. I have 2 Queens of these and I wait for workers :)
You definitely need solenopsis fugax
Omg great idea :o
Nordic Ants thx man good luck!!
how big is this vivarium
2 meters and 70 cm :D
How big that terrarium?
How large is the vivarium?
What happened to the scorpions you put into the vivarium?
Always there! Just see them time to time though...
When is the next update coming? Im checking your Chanel a few times a week since 5 months to hoping for a new video:(
I know right! I can’t wait to see more
I'm sorry. We've been keeping him busy working in the BizOps team
Still waiting for update..
