I feel like this is the normal person’s closet video compared to matpat’s closet where it’s a huge walk-in closet. Love the idea of the video and great job!

@@Saitaina yes but the original comment was saying that not everyone has a walk+in))
@Saitaina True! But they're not passing negative judgement on him or smth, they're just saying that his situation isn't as relatable to the average person as Amy's situation is. Which is a fair statement, I think.

Ooh yeah that’d be great! Maybe they could use their yellow puffer on Lumen
The best advice that I've learnt, is to only have clothes in your wardrobe that you're actually wearing. Pack everything else away. And re-evaluate it every few months. This also helps you work out what to donate/sell.
Yes, and that fit my today body.
" today body" what a wonderful way to be body neutral & non-judgemental! Wow!😊@@flufftronable
I find it hilarious that her folding "hacks" are just typical folding techniques that everybody uses already lol
Possible related theory, what’s the best way to pack clothes in a suitcase to have the most space left after
Especially if you promised to bring gifts back home afterwards.
what i learned - pack basics into a smaller suitcase then pack that small suitcase in a larger suitcase so you can have a check in bag on the way back
I'm an expert in packing, and I've watched a bunch of "prison clothes packing/rolling tutorial" video's. The idea is to roll your clothes the same way you would with socks, put them into organisers or bags and stack those. Categories them either by sets for each say (full look for day 1, 2, etc ) or by type of clothes (pants, shirts, underwear etc). Any formal clothes or ones that you cant roll you fold regularly, also into an organisation bag. Enjoy!
Yes! I want this theory
If you don't mind wrinkles, vacuum bags are magical.
"These clips allow us to hang up the bottom of the dress" .....AMY. My life is changed. I need more clippy hangars...I usually use them for full outfits, like a suit - if I have a top and bottom that go together, I put the bottoms in first and the top around them.
I also keep a small hamper in my closet, which is my donation pile. Instead of needing a big clean out or putting things back and taking up space, anything that doesn't fit or I no longer want can go straight in the hamper. Once it's full, I bag up the clothes and donate them 😊
I can't do that because of the layout of my own closet (It was essentially custom built with the rest of the house and a third of the space is blocked by a literal wall and my dresser), but that sounds like a great idea! My mom and I just store items to be donated in piles in our guest room lol 😅
I love that the style theory theme is starting to show up in episodes
Style Theory Theme?
@@DaxSkrai the music at the beginning when it shows the the style theory logo. It’s like the theme song, for a while style theory was the only channel that didn’t have its theme song play at the start of the episode.
@@steventhefan Style theory has almost always had a theme, its just almost never used. Ay the end of a few of the earlier videos, it plays.
@@user-qq4kw1ht4rthey didn't say Style Theory didn't have a theme, they said it didn't have a theme that played at the start of each episode, which is true.
I didnt notice it initially but I think its so cool that the style theory theme is finally being used. It just seemed to flow so well that I didnt even notice it was a new addition once amy started hosting. It just seems right that we can finally complete all the theory tunes with the new era.
E
The best folding method is the ranger roll. With it, you can store 100+ t-shirts in a small drawer, and they won't get wrinkles
Idk about 100+ but it def saves space the biggest issue I can see is it’s hard to see designs on the clothing, I guess most efficient way is ranger roll any clothes that have no design importance (completely one colour t shirts, underwear, socks etc) and have more commonly worn clothes or ones with designs another way
@@Kero-zc5tc I personally use the KonMari technique and it works really well for t-shirts with designs! Just have to make sure to fold them leaving the designs visible. It's soo nice opening a drawer and seeing all t-shirts at a glance (Edit: Marie Kondo is the Spanish name for the KonMari technique, whoops!)
I’d never heard of this method, but I just looked it up, and it looks so useful! I’m about to go ranger roll my overflowing t-shirt drawer. Thanks for leaving a comment so I could learn something new!

In my experience you’ll end up hating those vertical hangers, because they’re a pain to get out , get the clothes you want, and put away, especially if you don’t have space to move them out flat, further they tend to still take up a ton of space near the bottom and so fail at consolidating clothes
I do okay with vertical hangers pants and belts/scarves, but I don't take the hanger off the rail. I just have enough room on the rail to access the hanger.
For real? And what happens if you wanna access one of the skirts in the middle? Now you have to unhook three of the items in order to get to the middle one which is just a hassle
@@Knap4501 I've yet to have an issue with mine. I just grab the item I need. I've yet to have other items come with it. I have 2 for skirts, 2 for bras, and 2 for tops. I've also got one with clips, which works great for pants.
Only if you get the style used in this video. There are folding, multi-hanger holders that hold more than the ones she used. It's a \|/ pattern with 6 hanger spots on each foldable arm, belt/tie hooks and a rotatable hook at the top. As long as you leave about half a hangers worth of space to open an arm you can fit a lot of stuff an a few of them.
We're here with you. Not to judge, but to relate and hear out your stylistic theories. Don't ~ boo👎~ yourself too hard in the vids. Not having enough space for all the different vibes is SUCH a mood. ❤ Thank you for the compacting ideas! Definitely gonna try some of those out.
Folding hack for packing for long trips or limited dresser/drawer space; military Ranger roll, or what I like to call the soda-can T-shirt roll. Fold hem up 2-3 inches both sides, so its rolled up. Fold left side over 1/3rd of the way, and fold sleeves back to match line of fold. Repeat on right side by folding 1/3rd of the way and folding sleeves back to match line of fold. Roll from the collar SUPER TIGHT all the way up to the hem, continue rolling OVER the hem line, and then take the hem and tuck it over the shirt to finish! Now you have more space to store in your luggage for long trips or drawer space when you're working to clear stuff out! 😁
thank you for helping me clean my room. everything's on the floor, EVERYTHING
E
Making a mess is a part of the cleaning process lol
Real
If you have a lot of tank tops like me I recommend this little hack. Use a shower curtain on one side of the closet and put the tank tops on the s hooks. Helped me soooo much!!
I tried the multi hanger condensers multiple times in the past and found they did not save any space because the clothes would lay against each other, still having the same horizontal thickness as just being on the bar, but now harder to access because they are buried in other things
Same here
it might only work for smaller pieces of clothing like amy’s tank tops or skirts
One of my biggest closet/wardrobe hacks is a rotation/cycling system. I have my clothes organized by type (jackets, light jackets, long sleeves, shirts, pajama pants, pants for work, etc.), but within each type, the most recently cleaned (and thus worn) items go on one side, while the items that have yet to be worn go on the other. For hanging, the items that haven't been worn go on the left while the recently cleaned items go on the right. And for folded items, the recently cleaned items go on the bottom of the stack rather than the top. It basically ensures I'm basically always getting the most out of my wardrobe since all of my clothes are being cycled through, instead of just wearing a handful of favorites while letting some items sit for months.
Having a closet that is literally the width of a door, and having to put most everything on shelves...I've found neatly rolling up everything does amazingly for space saving. First learned the trick of rolling clothing for packing suitcases from someone who used to be in the military, translated it to storing clothing on shelves and oh boy it was a game changer. You can even make sure logos/etc show on the edge of whatever you are folding, if applicable, so that you can easily tell what is what from the side.
I've found that doing a closet purge once per year has been helpful. Put everything in a love, like, or loathe box. Everything in the like box that hasn't been touched in a year can go (with the exception of heirloom or formal wear like suits)
I need an update to this episode in a year: how to maintain an organized closet. I have organized and organized and organized my closet so many times. But if those were my folded shirts, I would only choose the top, maybe 3, cause everything on the bottom would be a drag to reach. And if you have deep shelves like me, everything in the back has basically disappeared. Marie Kondo commented on this as well, saying this was common for her clients. I might be alone in this but compiling items on to one hanger makes me worried that the middle items will be a pain to take out. And more importantly will get lost since there’s so many places for my eyes to scan. I was overwhelmed just listening. Also this might just be my short girl problems, but those jeans are lost forever all the way up there. I did chuckle at the fact that the less used puffer jackets were more accessible. I do, however, feel inspired to take my tshirts and hoodies off their hangers… as soon as I think of where to put them. 🤪
Put your out of season clothes on/in the harder to reach spaces. So your thick sweaters during the summer go to the back of your deep shelves, t-shirts you wear in summer in front of those. I reorganize my closet twice a year, pack up and vacuum seal all the stuff that won’t be worn for the next few months, and bring out all the stuff that will. It also lets me see everything I own and decide if maybe something needs to be taken out of circulation all together.
I live near a desert. I don’t really have out of season clothes. I have short sleeves and 10 long sleeve shirts that I wear if I go out at night and for the 2 months a year that it gets kinda cold. I also try to put less used clothing out of reach (rain jackets, puffy jackets, etc). Anything I don’t see, I don’t use though.
Those see through containers / boxes are the way to go! Fold your clothes so they can stand upright (KonMari style) and put them in a box or drawer that you can slide out and see the full collection and all of it is within reach and not under other items that makes it difficult to get to.
I have thought about boxes that you can easily slide out. I’ve put some in my hallway closet but once you put stuff in them, they become heavy and less easy to pull out. I could put rolling shelves in but that would be costly and it would permanently damage my closet if I don’t like it. I don’t know if this is all closets are just mine but they don’t sell boxes that are the size of shelves so I end up with so much wasted space on the side or/and in front. So inefficient.
@@bryannab2703 they sell little mini stick on wheels meant for appliances, but you can attach them to the bottom of your boxes for easier maneuverability!
So when I travel, I normally bring a rain coat. My dad taught me how so fold one, so it can fit in the same amount of space as an umbrella. First: follow the hoodie trick until folding it in half 2nd, you roll up the jacket into the hood. It is really important if you travel a lot, and don’t have a lot of your space in your suitcase or back pack.
Yes! I do this too - I have a stuffsack that came with my waterproof jacket but rolling it up like this makes it fit easily in the stuffsack and keeps it as compact as possible when the drawstring on the sack is pulled tight 🥳
Amy has D&D books in the closet Mirrors reflection and now I NEED AMY D&D STORIES!
Pro tip: Analysis paralysis also hinders you during your shopping. Try to finalise the item you like as soon as you can because even though walking around every store might get you a better deal on the colour and style of clothing/footwear you wanted, you're less likely to be happy with your decision leading to you using your purchase less or with a bad mood.
Clothing industry plant
Or just do what I do. My lover makes decisions when I can't. Her name is Lady Luck. Should I buy a certain pair of shoes? I got a quarter. I have 6 options for shoes? I keep a D6 handy. Was I suddenly drafted into a Mr Beast 1 to 100 video? I got a D100 as well. She can be quite fickle at times, but so far she hasn't steered me wrong. And no, I'm not Harvey Dent. Not quite rich enough to be a former DA for Gotham.
@@SealFormulaMaster Relying on luck is a double-edged sword in cases of preferences. How many times have you flipped a coin when you couldn't decide between two fast food items and after you got your answer of what the coin picked for you, you immediately wanted the other item more? You just have to pick quickly and not pull a Sheldon by letting a dice decide everything.
@@hamzasultan96 the act of letting chance decide for you is what helps, not the actual outcome of the flip/roll - you often realise what you actually want as the coin is flipping/the die is rolling... If you rigidly stick to what chance says, you'd be right in what you're saying - but if you use it as a tool to force your brain to make up its mind then it's a useful tool 😊
@@DaniCal1forn1a Then we agree.
Especially if you have a drawer, having your folded clothes vertical can save a lot of space and make it easier to see them all!

I've had some bad experiences with wigs, which kinda sucks as my hair doesn't like to grow and i really enjoy having the long hair from a wig - when its not trying to fall off my head. Just need to note how impressive it is that Amy is able hide her black hair in all those different wigs. That is no easy task! *applauds*
I love this series. It's so great and cant wait to use these tips!
The roll folding technique is the fastest and best imo, Its neat, compact, you don't need to search the folded pile and you easily see and choose what to wear, Works best with shirts, hoodies, sheets, towels sweaters and more, You can sort them vertically and horizontally to utilize closet space
Vertical rolls for deeper draws, and horizontal for shelves and shallower drawers is my preference too! They stack nicely horizontally by nature which is really satisfying
It's the best when things are different colours. If you wear only black it's a bit harder 😅

Literally the most important thing in my life right now. Thank you for this incredible episode!
Adding to the Folding Method conversation; Military Roll! I very tightly roll all of my house clothes and t-shirts/tanks to fit in a dresser! • Lay shirt flat with the neckline towards you [doesn't matter if front or back is up] • Fold about 4~5 inches of the base of shirt [more may be needed based on the fabric of apparel] underneath • Tuck in sleeves and fold the neckline part of shirt upwards towards the folded bottom [folded side is UNDER the shirt] leave space above the fold, about 3~4 inches • Now fold in the sides like a pamphlet [some items need more space, some can be packed tighter] to desired width • Take the folded part nearest you and match it to the top of the item, where the base fold was • Grab the folded part that is UNDER the item, and roll one side OVER the top - like when you fold over matching socks! BOOM - happy lil square of clothing that'll easily fit in a small drawer or shelf~ This method works with EVERYTHING; I do this to underwear, shirts, pants, shorts, sweaters, etc etc etc. I have about 30 shirts in one basic Ikea Malm dresser! It's a LIFE SAVER for small space-dwellers!
Amy is doing so well I have been loving her hosting style theory ❤️

The most easy method is just get a bigger wardrobe so you get fit your clothes in.
THANK-YOU SO MUCH AMY FOR THIS EPISODE! HANGERS ARE A GODSEND, AND ALSO THOSE LITTLE FABRIC CUBES ARE GREAT FOR UTILIZING SHELVING SPACE FOR JEANS AND SWEATS
My preferred method of folding when trying to save space is the ranger roll/ military roll. Basically, bring the hem of a top or the waist area of bottoms a couple centimeters towards itself so you have a pocket. Then, fold the clothes in half of thirds depending on the item before rolling from the opposite end of the 'pocket' you made earlier. Grab the edge of the "pocket" and drag it over the end of your roll on boths sides. Works well when trying to fit a weeks worth of clothing into half of a shared suitcase. There are youtube tutorials for the roll method that explain it better than I have here.
I was thinking about fixing my closet a few days ago Amy, thanks
cool video amy, also you looked so stunning in that dress yesterday, but man were you nervous/excited ( that was so cute how you tried so hard to stay professional, but you did a great job and i am proud of you ) ..... also there is actually an even better way to organize clothing and it comes from the military its called the RANGER ROLL ( for someone like me who hasnt a closet, moves constantly from place to place its a god send). with the ranger roll technique you can organize all your cloths and i mean everything, look it up. cant wait for next video
Ranger Roll changed my packing game since learning it. I love flinging rolls around since they don't come undone.
