Listen, my thoughts on Batuu is that the worst parts of it are as a result of Disney meddling. It’s got it’s grubby ‘brand integrity’ fingerprints all over it, creating a sims pack where you can’t woohoo with Rey/kylo, can’t wear the clothes you want and can’t build anything. It created a sandbox game with no freedom. Granted, the sims team shouldn’t have bothered with working with a company as restrictive as Disney but I do think the final outcome is less the sims teams fault and more Disney not knowing when to shut tf up
I agree. Our Mouse Overlord doesn’t really know the definition of creative freedom.
@@doctordragon9798 In general Disney’s a pretty big stickler for brand integrity but for the purpose of this I’m gonna focus on Star Wars. You’re right, it’s not the avengers. But it’s fucking STAR WARS. It’s one of the biggest franchises in their pocket right now (probably tied with the avengers) and if you look into it I’m sure you’ll find that they very much do give a shit about its tie ins and such. From canceling the Hyperspace Hoopla to jumping through every hoop possible to make sure there wasn’t a single corner of the actual Galaxy’s Edge that could possibly be considered not cannon. As for EA/the sims team, there’s definitely general criticism to be had about how they’ve been running sims 4. HOWEVER even in some of their other worst reviewed packs players were still allowed the freedom to do basic things like build and choose their own clothes. This isn’t the kind of thing that gets accidentally forgotten it was deliberately removed from the game. It doesn’t feel like the product of not enough management , but over management (be it from Disney or someone else). As for the woohooing any of the characters I honestly can’t think of another explanation. I mean, this is the same team that added a special bonus trait for any kids you had with Santa. I think the only other reason I could think of is that maybe cause the actors are real people? But like, Baby Ariel is in the game and still functions like a normal sim. As I said, it reeks of Disney not wanting that sort of thing associated with their characters.
I was one of the few people super excited about this pack. I can get past most of the stupid stuff. I got so excited when they put Hondo into the game. I was beyond upset that I couldn't make him my baby daddy. I litterally never went back after that. I'm obsessed with compelting collections but that ruined it for me.
Well, if making this pack gave them enough money to do other cool things as the decorator pack, then it's fine. But it did make me sad to think that The Sims would be another game to lose it's identity for money, glad they are catching up now

I was watching the legacy challenge on stream, and gave me an idea: CAN YOU GET RICH ONLY BY PLANIG EVENTS?? (and selling the rewards) for exemple: start with dates, have a date and sell the reward, make this until you can make other events (like birthdays and weddings) and sell their rewards, until you get millioner

Actually you can get rich quick in Baatu. Everytime you complete a quest, you get credits. Use those credits to buy trinkets. Once you're back on Earth, you can sell the trinkets at a higher price, because Simoleons hold less value than credits. Also, completing the smuggler aspiration lets you pickpocket NPCs, creating money out of thin air.
I was just about to take a sip of water as I saw Kayla in the hotdog suit, and damn near got raspberry flavored water all over my phone and laptop 😂😂😂

I genuinely like Batuu, should it have ever been created, no. But I’m the kind of person who liked to play with fun and obscure gameplay like this. Also I’ve never watched a Star Wars movie on my life, so in a weird way I think that helps.

Batuu is not nearly the worst pack, I don't like that everyone feels obliged to hate on it at every given opportunity. It’s more well made than a lot of other packs and it’s just as empty in terms of gameplay as the others are, and it’s a lot less glitchy than most. The items are heavily themed and most simmers wouldn’t use them, but they are good quality- it comes down to whether or not it’s the sort of thing you’re interested in paying for, just like every other pack. Like, everyone calls this the worst pack, have they forgotten about my first pet stuff? The pack with objects that literally cannot function without purchasing another DLC? Or any of the original stuff packs that have less content than a kit? I think the main reason everyone hated it to begin with was because EA released it before addressing the skin tone problem but if you don’t let the unfortunate timing of that get to you, it really does not deserve the title of the worst pack. The skin tone stuff wasn’t Batuu's fault, it was EA itself. I also haven’t watched Star Wars at all but I can tell you I use Batuu, Strangerville and bust the dust more than pretty much every socially acceptable pack out there 😅
