The net decided to step in and say 'that's enough guys'🤣🤣
Stop stop, the ball is already dead!
Fortunate enough to walk right in the tv room when this rally was going on, it seemed as if it would never end. I believe they could’ve gone to 100 shots if the ball didn’t net drop.
Same case here too
😮
haha we will never know
Their stamina and legs are incredible. I would be on the floor heaving with only 25 shot rally.
eh wasn't that difficult a rally. they weren't hitting corner to corner like the top pros would do; just back and forth back and forth like a practice court rally.
@@oldfrend You think they dont want to? It's hard to do what you want when you are tired. The top pros are a slightly different level.
@@nsebast you never played before have you? you have no idea what's going on in this point.
@@oldfrend good one federer
@@oldfrend Lol I have been playing for 15 years and I can beat coaches. You obviously never played with fit people.
What a well behaved crowd though. Kept respectfully quiet pretty much, and when they did make noise they got quiet again as soon as they realised the rally wasn't over. Nice to see.
That's why the Australian Open is my favourite GS tournament. Nice to see the crowds being respectful towards the players unlike the US Open with Wimbledon not too far behind it these days
@@sfinn85 Are you joking?! Did you witness the antics of the Aussie crowd last year. But of f-ing animals. Don't talk if you just make stuff up.
Not really, someone shouts Karen's shot "out" loudly @ 1:25
@@sfinn85 I guess you didn’t watch the final with Medvedev last year. And I agree that it should be respectful from the crowd, but that’s been going downhill big time over the last few years across just about all venues, including Australian Open.
Thats cuz they were not running side to side. Once that happens all hell breaks loose and as the commentators would say, it's SHOW TIME
1:45 and the most Australian guy I've ever seen.
he even brought his kangaroo, to boost his australian points for another 30%.
Umpire: boys, enough with the practice Net: got it, leave it to me
Uauuu So consistent these players 👏🏼🎖️🎾🤜🏽
Matchpoint yesterday in Murray v Berretteni's match. Today breakpoint to end this endless rally !! The NETCORD of AO23 is the star of the show rn !! 🤣😆
And it came again for matchpoint rune v rublev
Gorgeous artistry and power. How exciting.
the were hitting solid backhands too. Wasn't any weak balls
Go for it Jason kubler don't give up come on. Go for the game. Don't let urself down 👍..
Both of them stopped grunting in the middle of the rally, seemed like they relaxed and were enjoying it.
This reminds me of Simon vs Monfils 10 years ago
same lol, that was at AO as well
Has that been 10 years already? Geez I'm getting old.
@@starman3533 exactly
@@GethAndroid yeah, me too
But better and less pushing.
I think it made a record of the longest rally shots in the Tennis history.
it didn't by 1 hit, unfortunately ahah
Lol there was someone who had an 25 minute point in 1983
@@averagejojofan8649 yeah fake news lol
@@noahhenderson3164not fake, it was a womens match with a 600 shot rally, look it up
Nice rally, although got a little passive at times. Still prefer the 54 shot rally between Novak and Rafa at the Us open in 2013.
Great shot two player
The only proper way for that rally to end
It’s crazy cause it’s 70 shots and they are not pushing by any means
The crosscourt backhands are definitely pushing. It was impressive, but saying that they weren't pushing is a bit of a stretch. It was a break point, so it's not uncommon to push and hope your opponent makes a mistake on a pressure point.
Agreed, even Jason Kubler said in an interview afterwards that he was a bit too passive in that rally.
They are 100% pushing. Impressive for the stamina and rally tolerance, but there were maybe 2 offensive balls in the entire rally. Khachanov is totally comfortable using his conditioning to win points. There was that long rally against Ruud (iirc) in the USO last year with the same level of pushing.
@@juandixonformvp Anyone who thinks this isn't pushing is lying to themselves. These two were waiting for a UFE, not trying to win a point outright.
@@mskcrc waiting for the error doesn't mean automatically pushing. Passive doesn't mean automatically pushing. Not attacking doesn't automatically mean pushing. What the heck is/was your level or ranking. I was ATP ranked and there is not a single player in the top 300 maybe 400 who just pushes the ball. Pushing thr ball means your ball is weak. That certainly doesn't exist in the top 100. Even if they are passive sometimes their ball is still heavy.
0:44 Was that imitation of Murray?😂
1 shot off the record (71), when I saw the 70 shots come up I was certain it was a mistake I could not believe my eyes
Awesome
This is why some people say tennis is boring...but I would give my right arm (irony) for the ability to hit at this level of power and accuracy.
that don't make sense because points like this don't usually happen in tennis.
While they were obviously hitting it harder than the casual male tennis player does, it wasn't anywhere near as fast as usual. Notice how no one tries to take the upper hand and play aggresive.
@@matthewthibodoux4539 you know little about tennis if you think these guys were not trying to get the upper hand. Just because they make it look easy don't mean they weren't trying. The Asian guy it many defensive slice to stay in the point. You don't got those shots unless your opponent is trying to hit winners
@@blackspiderman1887 they are actively trying to not lose a point rather than gaining one, boring tennis
I can't imagine that end. Unlucky haha 🤣
Too bad not many serve-n-volleyers these days. I grew up watching 90s tennis and i enjoyed it more, it really tested the players athleticism even when points were shorter
Wouldn’t that be the opposite. Shorter points = less athletic ability and stamina required.
@@goxaviergo11 Stamina no, but reflexes and athletic ability yes. Look at Boris Becker's diving shots at the net, whole body hits the floor
Jean Hepner and Vicki Nelson collectively: "Hold my beer"
this was immense
I love that they both shut up in the middle of the rally and you hear only the shots, the way it should be.
The dude had to stop grunting to save his energy to finish the rally.
The net said..."NO MORE"!
Dawg Im completely gassed after a 30 shot rally
It's funny how the "mandatory" grunts stopped halfway and then things started to get interesting from there.
Kubler played well. It's in the key critical moments where Khachanov was better.
Ball: Hey you guys done?
Ah!! The end was a tragedy though!! But great game!!
Stamina on steroids 🙌🏽
net chord lmaooo lets go kub
only lasted that long cause both were incredibly passive on break point
This is great stuff, ,but it doesn't come close to the 207 F Bombs used in the movie Scarface. I was talking about the grunts).
The net couldnt take it anymore & said enough of this hitting about
Did anyone else’s OCD kick in and you just HAD to count the shots?? 🙋🏽♀️😁🎾
If every point took this long to play, a Men’s five set match with every game won in four points would take 3h 20 minutes with ZERO seconds worth of breaks.
Wow - Bjorn Borg and Guillmero Vilas have returned!
insane🤣
I get the feeling that to boost the crowd numbers they're giving away cheap tickets to drongos.
good practice for a real match
Yeah yeah win a slam.
I just came here to count if it was actually 70!
real solid rally too none of that endless slicing or Simon-Monfils pushing stuff
This is pushing, my dude.
All of you saying this is pushing have no damn clue.
@@dropshot5791 it’s ATP level pushing I could not hang in this rally, but it is trying not to lose a point, not actively trying to win one
@@mskcrc now your statement is more accurate. Well yes, sometimes players are active and going for the point and sometimes they are more passive playing very secure, each one at his own level. Even Djokovic and Nadal are passive many times.
😮😯
It's not attacking tennis, and yet an above average recreational tennis player would not have withstood the pressure from these shots more than a couple of times.
That rally costs Karen a set 😬
My arms are noodles by 19...
Are practicing them
funny how they both stop grunting after a bit
longest rally i have ever seen
just hit it to the other side ez
I dont know, maybe mix in a drop shot? lol
Pretty uninspired shots but I guess the longevity of the point was interesting.
1:42 Kid in Blue at the back, doesn't know how to react :D
Just another sign the balls at this year’s AO were really dead for night matches. A huge hitter like Khachenov being reduced to A 70 shot rally is absurd
When does Rafa Nadal play in the 3rd round? Hope it's late at night so maybe a couple of celsius colder, that should help him a little bit, man this heat is crazy.
Umm... you do know that Rafa is out of the Australian Open? He lost his second round match in straight sets having sustained an injury during the second set

Long, but all power baseline stuff -- boring. But still, good on ya, Kubes.
Lets be honest that rally was not high level. This looks more like a practice than an actual competition.
Pathetic. They could have come forward so many times. The racket technology is too good these days. Time to make courts fast again.
It was a pretty boring rally for a near-record, but pathetic? Bro, you're probably a fat, lazy self-rated 4.0 (aka a 3.0) irl.
No, the balls are just shit. Super hard to hit winners with in these conditions. Several top players have complained about them.
twas the longest rally in tennis history?
no, longest in history was between Jean Hepner and Vicki Nelson which lasted 643 shots and 29 minutes
@@seancarroll5803 really, in watp?

Nope. According to the Guinness World Records, the longest tennis rally ever was carried out between Italy’s Simone Frediani and Daniele Pecci on June 11, 2017, and consisted of a remarkable 51,283 shots. The attempt began at 6.23 a.m. and ended at 7pm

I think any normal person would fall on the floor after a rally like that ...
When 2 pushers meet.
Is the sound in sync or? What was the oo's and ahh's and laughter at 1:13 for? Crowd has lost its marbles
It dove toward the baseline and probably looked like it was going to sail long off the racquet.
Everyone always moans about women's grunts, but only a few louder ones (Sharapova, Azarenka, Sabalenka, Venus, Muguruza, Halep), the rest are quiet (Kvitova, Osaka, Rybakina, Iga, Badosa, Barty, Gauff) but the men? Every single one seems to grunt except some French and American players and Roger Federer.
and Sinner
Women’s ‘grunts’ are more than fine, it’s the screaming/shrieking that’s ridiculous. I agree that majority of them are great though, but those horrible few attribute to an (unfair) poor reputation.
Everyone seems to grunt these days, guess it must work 🤷♀️
This is VERY much like me fighting with the GF
You don't hold that long bruh let's be honest.

Guess they got tired of grunting and focused on hitting toward the end of the rally!
Seems like no one wanted to win the point, Khachanov did the same thing vs Ruud at USO. Just kills the game for me, hope he loses next.
That's exactly what came to mind, the USO rally.
They started to try to hit some winners toward the end, about 45-50 shots in. A couple deep shots, a couple aiming for corners. But until then, it was like when you're doing warm-ups and purposefully hitting to your opponent's zone as a courtesy.
Whit this balls you cant hit a winner its ridiculous
Si, ai 2km/h...e da fermi
Tough way to lose the point though.
The oeh and ah never happens with womans tennis. Just an observation.
A practice routine.
Better than monfils simon one
Are you thrilled about it or embarrassed about it Australian Open?? This is what you have sunk tennis to by modifying the rackets, grittier courts, bouncy balls .. this is what you wanted, a prolonged rally for TRP?? You have taken away the artistry from tennis .. it will lose fans very fast in coming years. No room for geniuses like Federer, Sampras or other OGs ..
Noticed they stipped with the groans part way through when they realise how stupid it is.
Longest rally?
Please don't try again this MARATHON MARVEL!
Great rally but terrible way to win the point, I think he knew that
Ok but it was like 95-98% a boring backhand rally. No variety whatsoever.
Little bit of pace but no power. Passive rally
This is a bad point. Give me faster courts and winners!
Thank you!!! Finally an opinion that actually respects tennis and a good show! 🙏🏻
Arranged forehand? They look like warming up and hit the ball like girls🤫
This surface looks really slow.
