“Tennis Of The Gods” | Djokovic & Alcaraz Produce French Open Spectacle! | Eurosport Tennis

Carlos Alcaraz came into the French Open as the favourite for the title, and his form suggested that was correct. He came up against Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals and the pair were shaping up to deliver a classic encounter, only for the young Spaniard to be struck down by an injury in the third set. He attempted to play on but could offer no resistance to the Serbian.

  • What a performance by Novak at the age of 36! Now, everyone should just take a deep breath and think how hard this is at his age! He is a different kind of a beast from all other tennis players, he is of his own kind! A mental giant and a great Master! No matter if you support him or not, all of us should put our hats off and admire his greatness! And yeah, sorry for the Alcaraz cramps, but it is a matter of someone's physical state and preparations done. It was too tough match for Alcaraz and that's why it happened. Will be better, he is young. He will have a great future. Now, hats off to Novak! As Andy Roddick once said: "He first takes your legs, then your soul." ;)

Obviously, he also had to battle hassle crowds all over the world as well which makes him even more admirable! And his childhood was a horror show with war and bombing. • Novak has been treating his body and soul better than any other tennis player, better than most people. First two sets were intense for both. Carlos was pushing his body more than he could handle. Novak was also on the edge, but right there we can see what treatment each one of these champions are giving to their bodies. Novak has learnt that over the years, and Carlos needs to recognize when to slow. It is incredible what kind shots he manages to return into opponents field, but to be honest I dont think all of them matters that much. He is like that fastest dog in the park who will always catch the ball first even though he might break his own neck catching it :D Maybe that was part of Novak's tactic, to try exhaust him as much as he can. Huge respect for Carlos for not surrendering, and walking over. He didnt want to diminish Novak's apparent victory, even though it feels like it is diminished with this outcome. As every other tennis fan, I was hoping to see 5 hours battle, and Carlos is not quite there yet. He is demolishing pretty much every other player on tour within 3 hours TOP. But not Novak. And that is the reason why this victory Novak should celebrate like it lasted 5 hours. Cheers everyone!

Which will leave Djoko needing at least 2 in 2025 to beat Rafa, which will be tough as he'll be suffering injuries like Federer and Nadal did, and players like Alcaraz will have learned by then that drinking water is a good idea to stop cramps! lol I hope Novak wins the final on Sunday as I bet him at the start of the tournament as I couldn't believe he wasn't favourite to win with Rafa out injured. I got good odds because the bookies had Alcaraz as 5/4 Fav, Djokovic 5/2. Alcaraz is really good but to put him above a 22 time GS winner seemed a tad silly. • I'm a huge Djokovic fan but I thought Alcaraz was going to win based on form and age. Eventually age will happen and I thought this was the time. I was surprised that Djokovic won the first set and that he had the power to take it back to Alcaraz, especially on the forehand crosscourt. After the second set I thought Djokovic would pull it out. They were too even for it to be Alcaraz' time. NOW I think Djokovic will win Wimbledon. I don't think Alcaraz will get to the final on grass. The US Open could be very interesting this year.

Nole being more experienced took a nice long break at the end of the 2nd set, cold shower, fresh clothes, and came back after a good 5 minute break. Carlos on the other hand stayed in the sun and on court, and paid for it. The more experienced senior knew how to turn it around by just catching his breath and after that, it was just a matter of letting alcaraz run through his emotions.
