  • Growing up as a teenager on the Natal south coast, Durban , South Africa in the late 70s and early 80s i first heard of the Mentawais in Surfer and Surfing magazine..photos only..no youtube and surfer channels with subscribers back then..but..judging from those pics i just felt that this place would be the holy grail of surfing for me. Sadly i dont surf anymore ( my son does ) and i never made it to the Mentawais Isl...but this is the next best thing. Thanks for the virtual experience !

I know this was 8 mos. ago, but how many times do you sit back and realize how truly amazing your life is!! you get paid a lot to surf magical, fantasy, dream like waves all of this planet. let alone, top of the list to surf anywhere in Oahu. pipe&backdoor alone is a true dream come true. if, I were in your shoes, everyday I'd be waiting to wake up from the best dream ever..the fun.e thing is you do, then get to do it all over again. sorry for the blabbering 🤦 it's just mind blowing.
