  • The notorious puerto escondido! Seriously heavy water here, never disappoints, this day i had my worst puerto beat down to date, that left man it really smashed me 3 times i jumped off the bottom and 3 times smashed back to sand without air, i almost had a very bad two wave hold down! Then followed it up with that evil right haha!! Hope you guys enjoyed this change in style! Mixed the land and POV to bring the experience home! Let’s go subscribe if you havent hope ive earned it i want 500k subs!

  • Puerto, to me, is probably the scariest wave in the world. Yes it's not as big as some spots, yes it's not as slabby as some spots. But being a beachbreak it's so unpredictable, it closes out so often, there's no real channel to escape to, and it has so much power. Absolutely terrifying, that place could kill you very, very easily.

  • That initial paddle out was intense. Loved the dual images at the beginning. Beach breaks are crazy but that place is insane. You remind me of me son. He is so active in the lineup. You are always paddling for position. I watched your Jamie podcast and he mentioned how active you are in the lineup. To the point of pissing off people lol. I remember a trip to Oahu with my family and my son and I went out at 3's. A south was going on so waves were like shoulder high. My son was like 14 at the time but working for position on every wave. The locals asked me to rein him in. So I had a talk with him about waiting his turn and not paddling out through the line up. We went on to have one of the most enjoyable day of surfing I can remember in my life. I started surfing in 1962 so you can imagine how much that day meant to me. Enjoy your videos keep up the good work.

  • Took some big ones on the head here 30 years ago. One "revelation" that came with modern photography was that our hold downs weren't as long as we thought they were. That beating Nate took, which he said was his worst one in a couple years, was 15 seconds. The fact that the next wave was on him in 17 seconds shows how tight the interval was that day. It also shows how time slows down when you're getting your ass kicked. In the 70's in Hawaii I thought..."I can hold my breath for two minutes...so I can handle anything". I was lucky to never take a two wave hold down, but I came super close many times just like Nate did right here. Lucky I never drown. Now that I'm past 65....this is a great reminder that we only have a small window to get it all done. As usual, great video Nate- I tell as many guys as I can to sub your channel-

  • I understand that Nathan is on a different level than I have ever been. When I lived in So Cal, some friends took me along to Puerto a few times. I never saw it this big (Thank God), and I never saw it break left, Puerto was always a right. That was truly a mutant swell. But 9:49 !!! Why Nathan, why ?? Dude, I get it, but you've got nothing to prove to anyone. That day was a 'Shore Pound Closeout Sale' if I ever saw one. We used to call it 'Putting Your Board on the Altar.' And I had a 'huge' quiver of 7 boards, really just loaners, learners, 2 longboards, and my custom board. Nathan Florence must have good karma with the surf gods to escape that wave with EVERYTHING intact. Thank you very very much for keeping this landlocked old man & his younger friends happy. I try and explain the nuances of your surfing to them, so they'll have some knowledge & etiquette when they paddle out.

  • As usual I watched with mouth agape. I would have drowned. I have to remember that you’re human, as you survive what would easily kill the majority of your viewers. Mr. Cool Ivan paddling a mile at the end, shows how sick the shorebreak had become. No channel, all sand bar, no escape, brutal close-outs turning yellow from dredging sand. Insanity, so compelling and beautiful in raw power. Love the POV and land footage mix. Thanks again Nate and team for this epic vid that im rewatching immediately 😂 💫🤙🙌✨️

  • To everyone reading this! please like this comment if you appreciate the raw and authentic style this video had as much as I did. Showing the details of what goes into a surf in waters as heavy as this makes me appreciate it so much more. Not many channels show what happens after a wipeout like that. Everything from seeing how long he stayed under water, how he got back to shore and seeing that Nate had to push himself mentally paddle back out. These details make such a big difference for getting an accurate understanding of what goes into a session like this and how tough it can be, even for experienced surfers like Nate and Ivan. Much respect for allowing us to see both the good and the bad. Nate obviously didn’t feel like talking to the camera after those heavy beat downs, but still decided to include it in the video. Please continue this style for future videos guys 🙏🏼

  • Props to the camera shots between the on-beach and the GoPro and that finesse in editing. Perfectly captured that awe and fear of seeing the amount of white water from the back of exploding huge waves while paddling out on such a big day, and that sinking-stomach feel of potentially getting caught inside. Each camera in isolation doesn’t convey how heavy it is to the average viewer, but with masterful editing you guys did it so well.
