Harry's protection is evaluated every time he comes to the UK. Plus, Harry is not asking for just himself but his entire family. He and the family would be given full protection if he came over specifically to see the King or a Royal function.

Well you cannot say with any certainty that the King refused to see Harry - neither can you claim to know his reasons. From the outside we all appreciate the King showing Harry it’s not ok to treat your family, your Father and your country the way he is and not face the consequences of his actions. Mark - if you knew anyone who has survived cancer (as I have) you would understand that peace is critical and a lot of stress is to be avoided at all costs.
