  • As someone who has built one of these I look forward to seeing how you get on. I can vouch for the fun driving it around and yes, the replacement sprocket rings are steel as I can attest the original aluminium ones were too soft for the wear the tracks put on them.

    • Hi Daniel, thanks for watching and commenting. How did you get on with installing the Sprocket...I have read that some builders had issues with the taper lock? Early days, but really enjoying this build so far. Hope you continue to follow the build and hope I don't disappoint.

    • @@tonys_workshop I was one of the ones having issues with the locking bushes and I still can't tell you what differentiates from getting them to lock on vs. Them letting go. You will need to find a way of holding the sprocket in place when you torque up the bush. Chris at Armortek made a custom tool to hold the sprocket in place using a metal bar and a couple of bolts aligned with the holes. Also make sure the sprocket teeth are aligned on both sides, it is possible to mount them slightly off and this will cause all sorts of issues with the track jumping.

  • Yeeees another build-series! This will be great. I was also looking into the hetzer when I first started checking Armortek out. Sure price was lower but also that it seemed like a good "beginner kit". At the same time I felt with that kind of money one might as well save up get something one really really wants. But hey I think this will be awesome and I'm very happy to be able to follow the great Tony on another adventure! (Guess your wife is not as happy lol). Cheers // Kris

    • Hi Kris and thank you. I wanted to do this build as it is so different to the Tiger and the Pershing. Looking at the instructions ahead of the build, it is clear that there will be some different challenges and that is what I wanted. I live near IWM Duxford and they have a full size Swiss version of the Hetzer there. It was small but packed a real punch. Hope you enjoy the series.

    @Viewfromtheturret@Viewfromtheturret6 ай бұрын
    • The Hetzer is a great option for that reason and that it comes in at a lower price. I have started the build and absolutely love the process so far. Storage is always an issue as well as logistics of moving these beasts around. I do like the Churchill, especially the realistic track sounds generated by the rollers and suspension. Perhaps one for the future. Thanks for watching and following.

  • Haha, I had a feeling it'd be the Hetzer 38T, a very popular tank with its owner/users in real life, the Germans loved this very mobile, agile and well-protected tank, it also had suitable firepower too. Make sure to get the camouflage right, Tony. Happy building, wish I was doing this one!

I always used to think the Panzer iv was my favourite Tank but as i have learnt more about them i'd put a Sturmgeschütz, Hetzer and a 38T about equal for character but i'd always pick a Tiger 1 first {but then there are 3 main variations} but probably the early Tiger 1 because it has Character!
