    @davidmellish3295@davidmellish329512 күн бұрын
    • He has probably earned enough money before this to pay them back already. He has been a top 16 player for last 6 or 7 years. Just winning it and being world champion is the ultimate payback and the reason they sacrificed.

      @gamblinggod960@gamblinggod96012 күн бұрын
    • @gamblinggod960 Yes that's what I meant when I said about paying them back mate. I wasn't talking financially, I was referring to the fact that he's world champion, how that made all their sacrifices worth it. As you say he's been a top player for a while now and he's earned decent money through prizes and sponsorship, endorsement deals etc. I saw an interview with him at home a few years ago and his house is very nice with a full size snooker table and a couple of decent cars in the drive,so I'm sure as you say ,financially he's been able to pay them back a few years ago ( that's even if they wanted it back,he is their son so as parents they've supported him for love and not money ) But the real payback is to show them that it was all worth it,he's now a world champion and every sacrifice was more than worth it

I've just always questioned if or not he had that killer instinct to win that makes a real champion. I still do question it to some degree but I hope he goes on from this. He has every right to lift that trophy 3 or more times.

He cried when he went through on a fluke against McGill. Very nice, but if that was Hendy or O'Sullivan they put their hands up to apologise but inside they're laughing their fucking arses off about it. • Reminds me of the year Neil Robertson won the title. Neil's run that year was: Fergal O'Brien, Martin Gould, Steve Davis, Ali Carter, Graeme Dott ... not the trickiest run, took advantage of his opponents where he could and he stayed relatively fresh throughout (beat Davis early, quick first round match etc) Kyren's run was Dominic Dale, Joe O'Connor, John Higgins, Dave Gilbert, Jak Jones so a very similar run. He was helped immensely by having the easiest opponent possible in the first round (no offence to Dom... he's not the same player that he was) and he was still very fresh by the time he played Higgins who had only just scraped past Mark Allen 13-12.

I watched all his matches & the amount of times he missed when in & wasn't punished was hard to believe, he even made hard work of this after goin 7-0 up on Jones who was absolutely shattered after Saturday night & his extra 2 qualifying matches! Fair play to him this was the trophy he wanted & proved that hardwork pays off when u don't have natural talent. His cue action is very unnatural & robotic, just not so easy on the eye! A bizarre Championship with 12th in the world being highest ranked of the Semifinal lineup!

  • Well, I reckon the happiest man of all will be his brother who lives his life travelling around with Kyren. Nice work if you can get it!

  • I saw Kyren play in a leisure centre in Barnsley with a £10 half-day ticket a few years ago. While my gf and friend were securing seats to see Ronnie play I was watching Wilson on a side table- I forget who he was playing. He made a break of 140. When I got back to my seat, I told my gf that Kyren would be world champion one day. Yesterday he stopped me being a liar!

    • @@johnmc3862 Hendry peaked too early but had to or else he wouldn't have made it to the final. He was running on empty as Stave Davis mentioned in the studio after raising it to come through against Doherty and then extra psyching himself up to defeat O'Sullivsb. It's difficult to peak for 3 rounds at the fag end of the world championships to win it. An immediate century was most unlikely in frsme 35, a century has never been done in frame 35 before, a tsll order at such a late stage of a world chsmpionship final Ebdon was hsrdly somebody who you would expect to lose 18-3 in any case. Talking like leading into 2002 world chsnoinship finsl that it was unfinished business from 1996 world final as though Hendry winning it 18-12 waa a terrible perfoemance, as if an 18-3 thrashing coming in was ever a realistic prospect. Hendry was great, but fully expecting him to chase an 18-3 to equal or bresk Steve Davi's 18-3 finsl win from 1989 and achieve it was ridiculous. Being lucky as though they don't deserve to be world champion doesn't come into it, because there's no such thing as the real world chsmpion ss though the actuel world chsmpion is not a the real world champion. The sctual world champion is the real world champion. There's bo such thing as a bad world champion. There's no players making the world championship finsl floating about likely to lose 18-2 or 18-3. Congratulate Wilson please, this world championship final was not the equivalent of sn 18-3 had one of the big nsmes had got to the final instesd of either Wilson or Jones and played the other. Ebdon and both Doherty got lukewarm congrstulations in 1997 and 2002 for their world title wins it was ridiculous. If you become world snooker champion you deserve to do so.

    • Ebdon wasn't exactly a no hoper. Saying "He was lucky" to diminish a player's achievement of winning the world championship title is ridiculous. Wilson's wotld title success shouldn't be diminished by ridiculous claims of "18-2 or 18-3"' either. Bad players don't become world snooker champion. I haven't seen a bad world snooker champion yet.
