But, underneath, the new Supra has a significant number of BMW-stamped parts. The inline-six engine, for example, is sourced from BMW - although Toyota's engineers tuned it specifically for the Supra. ........... right

    • Kind of. They've always had a "sports car" or two being made. The MR2 lasted until 2007. That was overlapped by the Scion tC in 2004. While not exactly a sports car people have taken them to race events.

    • Amazing sports cars 🤣 where? LFA that came out way to late under powered and interior sucked with low grade tech for the attention to detail yet forgetting that other companies evolve which landed it a flop while being expensive and RCF still slower than a 5.0 and cost more. Dude races in Turing events to learn but doesn’t think about the type of racing conducted in the location he sells his cars which means he’s one dimensional and a poor business man which is why Tesla has been leading over Toyota because their only foot hold on the market was in the way of gas mileage and reliability therefore hp isn’t a fundamental. Then they think in 2022 that anything less than 650hp factory/ performance isn’t shit if we wanted to turn we would buy a Porsche.

  • As part of Toyota’s effort to develop hydrogen technology and explore options to keep the internal combustion engine relevant, Toyota put together a team under the Rookie Racing banner (Rookie being the name of Akio’s pet dog) and raced with a Hydrogen engine powered Corolla Sport called the Corolla H2 Concept. It has a hydrogen fuel tank from the Mirai and a modified engine from the GR Yaris in the Corolla Hatchback chassis. They raced it along side a modified GR Supra the team entered as well for the first time in 2021 in Japan’s premier endurance race series, Super Taikyu. Akio was aware of the public’s fear about the perceived dangers of hydrogen. So to prove to them that hydrogen is safe and not as dangerous as people think they are, he (Morizo) personally raced the Corolla H2. At the 24 Hours of Fuji, Morizo in the Corolla H2 competing in the special non-homologation ST-Q class, crossed the finish line along side it’s GR Supra teammate. As a car enthusiast and Toyota fan, watching that moment live, I got teary eyed seeing how much Toyota and it’s badass CEO are so committed to making fun to drive, ever better cars and it definitely shows today with Toyota Gazoo Racing. I am so excited what future holds for the company and the brand.
