    • @Anthony K Doesn't matter how "overrated" the car is in almost every up to speed video he's extremely enthusiastic part of why most watch the show. Also most would expect him to be excited over a Supra because its one of the most recognizable cars of all time! And while yes they're somewhat overrated the Mk4 Supra 2Jz -GTE is an amazing car that takes a huge part in not only car culture but pop culture aswell.

    • @Anthony K 15 year multiple Supra owner here...you don't know what you're talking about. The 2JZ + Getrag combo is legendary for a good reason. It's so amazing that it's hard to OVERSTATE it. But, you call it a "piece of shit". lol - The MK3 overrated? It was in U.S. Magazines holding its own with the underwhelming Domestics of the day (C4/TA's/'Maros/'Stangs)...but, the MK3 wasn't a total package. Due to that, if anything, it was "underrated" in the U.S. from Domestic buyers/reviewers. Now, the MK4TT? *THAT* was in U.S. Magazines like R&T showing-up 911's, Vipers, ZR1's, etc. @ $40kMSRP in 1993. Get real. The thing was a MONSTER. Neither car was "overrated" in its day - they were properly "rated". They were/are both great cars. What I think you MEAN to say is you weren't around when the cars existed new and you're actually talking about Fast and the Furious effect (I could be wrong). Because, if you're talking about "overrated" in 1989-1993.5 - (when the cars were released/reviewed) you're dead wrong. You can go look at PDF scans if you doubt me.

  • 1:09 a black celica supra stood in a car dealership where I lived back in 2006 to around 2010, I was pretty interested, great condition, asking-price was around $3000 dollars, but I wanted the 3.0 turbo, they costed the same here in sweden back then with manual transmission, but I bought a Volvo 740 turbo instead LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! FML That black1st gen Supra at the dealership was SIIIIICK!

  • FYI for those that love the boxy look of the Mk3 supra. If you change out both stock seats for racing seats you'll shave 100lbs. Then, rip out the rest of interior trim and you're at Mk4 weight lol

    • When is that ever a problem, BMW is known for some iconic sports cars, and they know their stuff. Plus this engine is still a turbocharged inline 6, that is also highly tunable. Sure all the fanboys wanted it to be built by a more reliable car company, and some say the styling is weird and doesn’t make enough power from factory, but It still is genuinely a good car, it may not be what people wanted, but at least toyota brought back the supra

    • B58s are starting to grow like a 2JZ back in the 2000's. Now the B58 can become a fire breathing dragon just like its dad. Highly tunable just like its dad, and reliability well time will tell but i heard thar early model BMW B58's have coolant pump issues.

  • I had a 84 and a 89 when I was in highschool. I bought the 84 for $400 and the 89 for $800! I thought they were both amazing. The 89 was really pretty for an old car with the cool 17" wheels, almost black purple paint job and that super sweet targa top but it was an automatic. The 84 was a monster to me at the time! It was my first car. It definitely was a bit rough around the edges but, 2.8 sure loved living around redline and it had the 5 speed manual. I had a local muffler shop put a 40 series flowmaster on it and I loved the sound! I gave that car hell and I only broke the water pump, fan and radiator once (pump bearing broke and the fan hit the radiator). I honestly wish I kept that car forever.

  • Something about the A80 supra always gives me the fizz and makes me realise what people love about cars. It literally brought Japanese car culture to the west. Something with that much capability to be made truely unique to each owner is so incredibly special. As a kid growing up in Australia we got skylines and such but seeing a supra on the road with its futuristic curves and line of lights along the back felt truely special even then. There are other cars I want/am more likely to own one day but the supra is the one with the most special place in my heart for what it stands for. Plus a 2jz in anything will always have my attention. By comparison the A90 just feels soulless. I know it's not a bad car but it just doesn't feel as special.

  • I was never surprised the Supra was discontinued. Between emissions, high price and the SUV craze, it was bound to leave us. A fully loaded twin turbo was over $45K in 1998. I remember looking at the sticker on one with my jaw dropped. At the time, it was in Corvette territory. Look at this way: You have the money to buy either car, and the Supra is a better car all around, but you dreamed of owning the Vette. I doubt there was even one guy here in the States who hadn't dreamed of owning a Corvette at least once in his life back then. Corvette sales were down too, but I think most gravitated towards the Vette because of that.

    • DanB Juliano it makes close to 400... people were getting more than 350 whp when they first came out... And one can easily break 500whp barrier by a bigger turbo and a methanol for fuel... Add a gearbox cooler and you can easily run mid to low 9s in the quarter mile... while still being able to daily drive it

  • 1:20 you've lost me.... "Took the engine from their legendary 2000GT and gave it two extra cylinders just for the Supra"? All "M" family engines were 6 cylinder ranging from 2L to 3L in capacity. The 2000GT had the one of a kind 3M which was a 1988cc with dual cams and 12 valves. This engine never came in any other vehicle except almost all 2000GTs. The MA45 Celica XX (or Mark 1 for you 'Mericans) had the same old ordinary 4M (2.6 Litre) that you found in a Toyota Crown or a optional JDM version with an M-TEU (2 Litre EFI turbo).
