  • We have made Turkey our home for the last six years and absolutely love it!We live in a mountain village above the Mediterranean, with our own olives, pomegranates, figs, grapes etc. We make our own olive oil and wine, swim in the sea year round and have a wonderful group of Turkish and foreign friends. We are almost finished converting a camper van and then we plan to explore more of this extraordinarily beautiful and diverse country, while wild camping. We are 66 and 71 and love our life here!

I decided to make Turkey my home 3 years ago. I have been going back to London to work 3 months of the year and going back to the freedom of striving without limits. Every time I go travel away, I only just keep thinking about coming back. I know economy hasnt been nice to Turkey, and ive seen it change, but I still love it. Thanks for sharing.

  • I'm English but have lived in Antalya, Turkey now for twenty years. I would never live anywhere else. Like all countries it has its negatives, for example at the moment the economy is falling on it's backside. However, my quality of life here is way better than I could experience in the UK. I have sea views at the front of my home, mountain views from the back. Now it's November and today 24 degrees! The people are friendly, welcoming and I've never experience one single problem with them in all the time I've been here. I live in a suberb, yet still within five minute walk from my home, I have four supermarkets, three chemist, two bakeries, two tailers, one gymnasium, two newsagents (bakkal), a massive park with four tennis courts, two smaller parks, a private hospital and the local weekly market. And just a ten minute walk to the beach! Advice though, learn the lanquage, the culture and the history!

  • One thing I love about Turkey is that they are PRODUCERS. They produce everything in Turkey. When u go to a store you will find almost everything is "Made In Turkey"...whether its a kitchen appliance or a pack of pencils. There is a certain pride they must have for being able to manufacture almost anything. Its the exact opposite of the U.S. where everything we buy is Made In China.🤷

      @good2goskee@good2goskee Жыл бұрын
    • @@good2goskeeas a turkish i think i can answer this one. So when the Ottoman Empire collapsed and new young Turkish Republic was established under our founder, Ataturk, he established everything based on independence. officially independence as a country and economicaly independence as turkish people. Economic indepence is one of our founding principles and its culturally important by both officials and people. Well it also has its historical reasons like one of the reasons our empire collapsed was we lost the world war one because we were so poor and we were so poor because we werent producing anything and buying everything from UK and France which were... our enemies who almost invaded and occupied Istanbul. So since 1923, one of the most focused thing in Turkey is independent economy. Independent from other countries like russia and china and anybody that can be a future enemy. And i wanna state what you have said is also true and massive boost to produce our own goods. But it is a new one unlike what i said above because our ecomony was not like this before, we were near euro countries economically.

      @pseidee@pseidee10 ай бұрын
    • @@pseidee interesting.... We are de-globalizing economically now for national security reasons. I think regional sectors will be more common such as the EURO-zone, NAFTA, or the BRICS being more autonomous from each other. I think if individual countries do not have regional economic alliances, they will be passed economically. For example, the USA will likely look inwards for production and lean on Canada and Mexico to consolidate more production partnerships vs depending relationships with China or India. Stability and reliability will be much more important for supply chains in our turbulent economic times, so counties will look to their reliable neighbours. Turkey will have to choose its economic partners. I don't think the Turks can sit on the fence like India.

  • i was born in australia. at the age of 14 my parentsdecided to go back to their homeland turkey. i am bosnian. half turk half yugo. you go we go we all go:) lived in a town called Karamursel up until age of 21. decided to go back to australia. got married and have two children now. i definitely want to go back to turkey and live their for good.australia is a fantastic country. if it werent for this country i wouldnt have had the opportunity with a total equity of estimated $2M if i decided to sell up all and go to Turkey for good. i could easily live a comfortable life until i pass onto the otherside without the worry of working anymore. live the travel life, how much i miss the free spa's in the mountains. never forget in the middle of winter we drove up the mountains and when we got to the peak i was dumbfounded. speechless. it was a full moon. i was drunk and laughing with a crowd of friends. it was like a huge lake with white stones and there were turtles swimming in this very warm water. there were bubbles everywhere coming to the surface. mate we had a ball to ourselves. we swam got out and repeat all night till morning. thats just one example that you just cannot do in melbourne. in turkey i was so happy. so much uplift in me. all went away in australia. you need big dollars to be able to do what cost a fraction in turkey. so if i sold up everything and decided to go back, that would be selfish towards my children. my daughter studies in monash university. to become hopefully one day a brain surgeon. my son is still in primary. hah! i dont think im going to be able to accomplish my goal. even though my wife and i really want to very much. it was always our dream. but that would probably effect the children in their education.

  • As much as I love Australia, its people,the way of life since my family migrated here when I was a child nearly 50 years ago, the politicians have made our beloved nation almost a communist state with the recent global event. Unlike Australia, the life seems to be continuing without Stasi type of policing in Turkey as we are experiencing here in Oz and being held in lockdowns at world record statistics.As much as I would prefer to stay in Oz, Turkey would be a consideration to migrate to, in joining the exodus, if things here do not improve, as Turkey is the next closest country to my heart as I was born there and have a sound all round knowledge and their language, it would be the place to decide upon at the very top of my list. Enjoy Turkey and the freedoms she provides along with the rest of what the wonderful nation and its people has to offer. Good luck and peace from Australia.

  • I'm happy you guys liked the country. I've moved to the U.S. and I already missed Turkey so much. I was born and raised in Turkey. So, only bad thing I can say about Turkey is; you can't make money there. Minimum wage is; $250 and more than 50 percent of people there is trying to live for $250 monthly. Minimum wage is way lower than poverty line in Turkey. I'm very sad about Turkish people.

I have been living between Canada and USA for the last two decades and looking forward to retire early or become a digital nomad very soon, I thought of Tbilisi, Georgia or Antalya , Turkey or hopefully swing between them. Did you create a video on Antalya? Also how much is an average price for a home or a villain Antalya? Great video, thanks a lot.
