Might be a bit slow, but I doubt any modern Ford will be running in 90 years.
Thats a fact.
Nothing made now will still function in 90 years. Well, maybe a few Toyotas, or a Caterpillar.
@@jeffrykopis5468 Facts on the toyotas. You could let a 90s yota sit forever and it'll still fire right up lmao
@@contraband1543 my 96 Corolla is one of the best cars I’ve ever had. Got it cheap as a beater and the thing just runs. When these little cars break they’re cheap to fix and can get parts anywhere. 90s Japanese cars have been good to me
No modern Ford would be running in 90 years from now.
My family of Dust Bowl Okies came west in a Model A truck. My grandmother told me how great gramps had to unload the truck and ferry loads to the top of the Rockies by driving in REVERSE because it was the only gear low enough to pull the hill at 10,000 feet. I appreciate the world they built.
Men of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s (and earlier) were a different breed of men. They had a physical and mental strength, grit, toughness, and courage that most modern men couldn't imagine. We are soft by comparison. Even my dad (1939-2018), a generation after the "Greatest Generation" possessed farmboy toughness, determination, resolve, resourcefulness, and worldly intuition that I could never match. He was and is my hero.
i think it was not because of the gear, those old engines didn't use fuel pumps, the fuel reached the engine by gravity and the fuel tank was in the back of the vehicle, so when the vehicle was facing a steep hill the engine had no fuel because the fuel tank was below the height of the engine, but in reverse the fuel tank was above the height of the engine and fuel reached the engine
when i read john steinbeck's cannery row i remember something like that they drive reverse to climb hill.
@@gma9504, this is why the fuel reception tube is always in the back of the fuel tank, so that you don't stall when you're climbing a hill and the fuel level is low. It's OK to stall going downhill, gravity will get you to where you're at a straight level. I doubt Ford engineers missed this trivial consideration.
I heard from my grandmother that my great grandfather drove coal trucks in reverse up hills because it was the lowest gear. They were Leyland trucks but it must have been how trucks where geared at the time. More modern trucks often have a crawler gear that's slower than reverse.
I am SO jealous. Even with all that's wrong, it still runs and drives. You better believe they don't make 'em like they used to! Looking forward to see the next chapter! Many, many thanks Mr. Jennings!
It's so reliable and fixable because it's so simple. But also because Henry Ford and his engineers were geniuses and prioritized simplicity and reliability before comfort and extra features.
Trade-offs. In reality, those vehicles were easily fixable, but required constant maintenance and frequent repairs. Vehicles now, commonly reach 100,000 miles *easily* and often 300,000 miles without the need for major repairs, but are very complex, and difficult to work on and repair.
@@spamtrap8021, you're very right, I should have mentioned that, too. Modern machines are complicated, but it doesn't mean they're unreliable. They're just harder to fix when they do break eventually.
@@VioletGiraffe Wait... what just happened? You didn't get all angry, and respond to me like I just insulted your grandmother. You just gave me some hope in humanity and made my day. Thanks!
Next video: We're gunna see if we can't get this old SD card runnin', which ain't been run in over 4 days
Not sure if you’ll read this but it’s so cool that you bring these vehicles back to life, especially these reallyyy old ones. They’re like time capsules and they’re so special. To think of that time when it was new, back in the 30’s, and to picture that truck hauling hay bales on a farm… really puts the term “another life” into perspective. Thanks for sharing with us and I hope you keep the videos coming for a long time. -Garrett
Don't worry about those old timers laughing kiddo. Your doing great. It's comforting to see some young throwbacks who still care about the old stuff. One day all us old folks will be gone and you'll carry on. You can't know where your going if you don't know where you've been. Pass on your knowledge to your kids.
Love old car restoration. Glad you bring them back to life.
I love these old 1920's and 30's cars and trucks! They are just amazing to see, and I really appreciate seeing them coming back to life. Just amazing.
With your SD card, check on the side of the card to see if there is a tiny switch. Sometimes those SD cards have a safety lock that prevents you from reading off of the card until you physically flip the switch.
That switch was my enemy for a good week or so
Reminds me of sticking a chewed up piece of paper in the square holes at the bottom of VHS tapes 😈
I had an AA just like this one, a 1930, with the " dual high" auxiliary transmission. Sadly, I sold her when I got married the first time. I should have kept the truck, and skipped the wedding!!!
Hard to say how much I love this channel and what you do for these old beauties, thank you so much!
You don't need to run expensive "high zinc" racing oil, just use a good diesel oil. It has the ZDDP flat-tappet cams need and is available anywhere.
Diesel oil?
@@lloydy___8720 oil designed for diesel engines....
I just use cheap oil in my flat tappet motors and add a zinc additive
@@joshbennett2762 ... I'd be using straight weight oils like a #30. Anything in oil these days will have 10 times the anti-wear compounds over the stuff from pre WWII.
Vice Grip uses Shell Rotella T6 meant for diesels.
I had no idea that these nostalgic vehicles were still available and just lying around. I would have thought everyone and their dog would have gone out as obsessed bounty car hunters and snatched them all up by now. That is one heck of a lovely 1931 model aa truck you have JMs. Would also love to see the entire 1917 v8 Cadillac rebuilt.
They literally made millions of model T's, A's and AA's. If you want one, you can find one. Just dont buy one from up north or the only thing left of it will be a pile of rust. 🤣
I can watch these all day long, everyday. That was my first ride in something so old, and I think I was born in the wrong era. I should have been born in 1905. The 20th century was the best engineering period of all time. From horse and buggy to standing on the moon. There is nothing like it.
as if you wouldve been able to afford one of these back then
I can see the Joad Family crawling west on 66 with something similar. Crazy. I discovered this channel a half-hour ago, and my mind is blown.
I Love Your Videos,, The Old Gems Coming Back To Life,, The Way They Look,, Sound,, Etc..Many Of These Show/Prove The Old Saying True,, "They Don't Make Em Like They Used To.
love seeing these old jems roll down the road again
Very nice truck. AA trucks are geared down compared to the cars, and so have a lower top speed. Spark advance needs to be adjusted (advanced) after starting, or it will be REALLY slow. Oil change requires only 4 qts, as some remains in the splash tray. Also, the updraft carb prevents fuel drips into the cylinders.
I see and hear that truck running, I think of the Waltons. A beautiful old truck and you will get it all right.
It's really great to learn how you get stuck engine back to life and running again, I'm a carpenter by trade but been working on cars and trucks since I was 10 which is 47 years and I picked up a couple tricks from you and I thank you very much. Keep up the good work and I'll keep on watching 👍☮️
That model aa is in surprisingly good shape
Jennings I enjoy all that you do getting the Ole girls going again. You are very knowledgeable about vehicles, especially when I was watching you building the Cuda back from nothing. Also the Diamond T awesome. " WOW " ... Just keep on keeping on!!! 😊
Highly addicted to your channel, love seeing these old beauties brought back to life!
I'm just loving to see such an old vehicle work, and it can be still be put to work.
To think that at one time this truck was a status symbol of wealth and also someone's pride and joy. Great work!
nice job, i appreciate seeing someone say "its going to the machine shop"
Epic! To think they was gonna crush it! Surely a mom an pop shop would love an old commercial like that for farmers markets and the like!
Use some Delvac diesel engine oil: it has plenty of zinc. I put some 10W-40 in a 1941 Graham Hollywood and it worked fine. I use it in my 2015 Yamaha MT-09 motorcycle, too. Shifts sooooo much smoother.
That good old double a needs some compression. New sleeves, new rings. A great old truck. Worthy of an investment. Thanks, feller. Enjoyed that.
She maybe old and slow but she is Absolutely beautiful and well worth restoring. Won't see a modern car lasting 90 odd years old.
I had the privilige to work on a 17' Stevens-Duryea charging system, I build them a electronic voltage regulator to replace the mercury float type regulator. Those old machines were amazing.
yayy, new video,, keep them up,, love watching your videos,, nice 1st person view, no fancy video editing/music etc... nice and real..
Drivin one of them old trucks down a country road is bucket list sh!t for me. That's so awesome.👍
This is AWESOME !!!. So excited to turn on KZhead and have a new video from you right at the top.
Any oil on the shelf today has more Zinc than any oil available when it was young. ZDDP started seing a little use in the mid 50s, and hit its peak in the 1980s. VR1 is pretty close to a 90s formulation.
I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL TRUCK! it has a low speed rear-end there were higher speed rear ends for these, My GREAT Friend Mike Hartmann here in Ola Arkansas makes the high speed worm drives for the TT trucks, It gives You a much more comfortable speed! I believe this Truck You have is a Ring and pinion rear end! Looking to find a set of the high speed gears for the 1930 to 1933 rear end! T hank You for preserving this beauty!
I'd love to drive this around like any other truck. Awesome.
Love that old truck !!! I bet there's hundreds of people seeing it "Thinking.... I'd give him this!! I'd give him this much .;;; She's a special little gem that truck .. has character !!! I'd give anything for it .. don't let no one low dollar you my friend, 🤪👍
I'm so happy you finally made a restoration video! I've been waiting for one for a while, and it was as good as I anticipated! Keep it up!
It's nice you get this old cars back up and running. Charming old lady, that car. Greetings from Norway. 🙂
You reminded me of the old t.v series the Walton's , and their family truck when you drove across that field .
Good job on freshening up the rims it looks good 👍
Great job.sure takes me back a few.thank you
That is a beautiful piece of history there. Hope you rebuild the engine and post a lot more videos.
Cars and trucks this sort of age with all original parts and original motor seem to be quite a common find in the US. Here in the UK we just don't see this sort of thing. We do get the occasional barn find but it's nothing like what you guys have over there with old trucks and cars just sitting on farms just about everywhere! One of the many things I envy about the US. I'd love to be able to rescue some old vehicles as often as you get to do it!
Really cool projects you guys are working on - really looking forward to seeing more about these old machines. I always appreciate that someone is bring them back and there aren't too many people that can do that. Really sorry about the lost footage - I feel that pain given all the work your doing on these machines!
Just have to say, this thumbnail brought a huge smile to my face!!! Keep doing what you are doing!!! 🤟
Absolutely beautiful. Glad I found your channel admist the new job search
My wife's grandfather was around these as a child. His family used them on the farm. In the 40s. Died in his 90s
So cool that you got this one driving again. I love those AA's.
Saw a Model A Sedan In shanghai automotive museum , very nice car, it would be love to have one like that.
This old truck is so awesome and is in such good shape for how old it is.
I appreciate your respect for these old cars. Love your videos
🇬🇧😷🇬🇧 lovely little truck 👍 well done you to you , 🇬🇧🌹🇺🇸🗽,
I drove mine from 1984 to 2008, late 31 with Garwood heavy duty dump hoist. Very dependable. I've now got a 46 but prefer the double a. Enjoy it
Living The Good Life Sir, Appreciate You Having us Along. Catch You On The Next One, Keep It Safe Out There
That's is an awesome truck. Just hearing it run was good enough for me but, actually driving it around is way too cool.
So glad to see you going up in subs. Been here since 6k and have loved every video so far. Been a pleasure to watch you grow, can't wait to see what's next!
So cool how OLD that truck sounds - very 1930's! Hope you get it going faster!
Awesome had many trips in model A it's still on the road in England reg no GV 1154
Dude! Super impressed watching your videos!
This is amazing. ATB from the UK
Awesome truck! Thank you kind sir!
I love that old truck. I hope you were able to restore her. Thank you for posting.
Go for a T4 diesel oil. It's got the zinc that those old engines need. It's a lot cheaper than that other oil. Vice grip garage uses it all the time.
my dream truck, just beautiful
An excellent truck is very similar to our ZiS 5, which was operated in the Soviet Union in the thirties, and later in the Second World War. For an analogue we took from Autocar Company: Autocar 5A. Greetings from Russia.
Hi from uk bin subscribed for while tho first comment on page goin to start givin comment or 👍👋 just so u know am here rather than just like vids good job mate at least not raining now for you !👍👍
Excellent video Jennings :) also check with Ford Tractor dealership or John Deere or Massey Ferguson for a Zenith updraft carb 1 barrel carb been around for over 50 years for 1931 Model AA truck also next engine oil change put 80w90 differential fluid of 200ml in before drain it when running in stand still or get WYNNES brand of Engine Flush bottle to run for 5 mins then drain completely to ! Plus old AA may need fluid change or top in transmission plus Differential fluid to add to or change too! Then run excellent and get in fuel tank every month a grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank run it it make that oldie purring like kitty cat Lol!
Great video of the beautiful old truck. You have a really good voice for commentary.
Beautiful truck, I’d love to drive that around.
Great upload 🙂 Congrats from a car detailer from Norway 😀
Would love to see a restoration on that old 1929 gmc from 5 months ago, keep it up man love the vids!
Nice work on saving old cars and truck. The green truck is nice for age and I know you will getting running right sounds great.👍
Great video! Looking foward to your next upload 💙
Thanks for all your doing here
I really enjoy watching these videos! Keep up the good work!
Absolutely beautiful. How many cars do you have that are running and/or restored?
Damn, she’s gorgeous on that 1 ton frame!
I am jealous , awesome truck! Great job getting it going again.
I like the way you try to make all these relics run. Not sure where in Ark. you are but I am south of you I believe. I would sure like to meet you sometime and see your collection
Thank you for preserving history.🙏
When I was a boy [circa 15 - 72 now] I got myself a Model A Truck, a bit like this one. It cost me the roofing iron of an old house my farther was demolishing to build a new house in its place. I tried to drive it home and never realised just how long that trip would be! We lived on Mt Cargill in Dunedin and I had to climb the hill in first gear - I swear I could have got out and walked faster! Anyway, it was beyond me fixing so I sold it for 5 pounds!
your awsome man love your videos your a entertaning funny guy always make me laugh keep it up man!
A michell overdrive is available for Model AA Ford Trucks. This will increase your speed by giving your truck a high and low gear. It is a beautiful truck of my favorite year, 1931, green with black fenders.
That's a classy old dust bowl escape vehicle. I love it.
thanks for the video, that is a beautiful truck i love the classics.
Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Take care 👍
Wow! Man it’s coming out looking beautiful! Great job!👏😎👍
That is a sweet truck! I would love one of those, I'd definitely put the dually wheels on it but that is one sweet truck
Great job on renovation.
Really like that sweet green truck
Great to see an update on this. Looking forward to your next video.
Any old timer stuff like this right behind you !! Thanks for the update!!!
Amazing truck thanks for let me ride with you
Been waiting on this Love the videos keep up the hard work
Enjoying all the old iron that your working on!
Use Rotella T for a less costly oil for old flat tappet engines.. That is sweet old truck.
Nice AA Truck you have there! If you turn your coil upside down like the original coils were mounted, it makes the wiring a lot neater. As for the oil, if the engine is old, best to use non-detergent oil. If the engine is fresh, a good 10-30 detergent is all you need. You DON'T need any extra zinc or ZDDP in a Model A engine. Wasn't around in 1931.
The old girl cleaned up nice.
