How to Effectively SOLO Difficulty 7+ in Helldivers 2 - A Guide with Tips

Today we conquer the Suicide Mission difficulty (7) all by myself in Helldivers 2. I give a fully voiced guide with tips for the pre-mission planning all the way through till victory.
These tips will remain consistent for difficulty 8 and 9 as well.

The Rail Gun, Shield Backpack, and base Breaker shotgun all got nerfed pretty heavily today, so anyone watching now, all the tips and strategies recommended here are still valid, but I just swapped the rail gun for the default precision orbital, or Eagle 500KG bomb to make up for the loss in power vs heavy enemies. Maybe I can make a new video to update the builds portion though!
Did any weapons get good buffs?
Dam so the three I use the most got needed. And this why I stopped playing alone of my shooter games
Of course they did. 'Hard game' and '5 minute tutorial to solo max difficulty' are incompatible. It was trivial to deal with them, now its hard.
They didn't get nerfed that bad honestly. Still all top tier. Try it and see for yourself.

Great mission - some advise though: Go to your HUD settings and turn on Ordinal Compass Points... NE, SE etc - it helps... as does enabling 'crosshairs' at all times.

Super destroyer names are my favorite. Mine goes between "fist of family values" and "elected representative of destruction"

This was genuinely very helpful, i find that i struggle in solo missions as i want to run what’s fun over the ‘meta’ if you can even call it that but having a good explanation for why you should run x y or z is very nice. Thanks much!

if you are looking for the ore samples, screenshot that rock on 14:41 - that black rock with white marbling is the spot that they spawn. You will find that rock on lower difficulties as well (without the samples), so make a habbit of identifying it. It really stands out. As to where it spawns, I think its random, but I believe it cannot be on a point of interest (it can be close by though)

Ha, awesome video. Really enjoyed the narration and you explaining your thought processes. Someone on another video or post called the red material rock "butt plug" rock so that is what is known as in my games hence forward.
Testicle rock, it has silver veins on it 😂 It does show as a point of interest or a diamond on the map once it's revealed. 😊
It's a minor point of interest if you look at it on the map
Fun fact, for the Rogue Research sub-mission you can also use the 500kg Eagle bomb, you're not limited to just the free Hellbomb or Precision Orbital Strike. I might have to do some testing to see how tight the margin is though, all I know for sure is if the stratagem ends up right next to it the blast at ground zero is enough to Democratize any building
Works with orbital rail cannon as well with the right placement
unless the area is swarming with enemies, there really isnt a reason to not take the free infinite hellbombs

@@louiesatterwhite3885use your god given eyes to read text. if it doesnt give you the hellbomb, its the antenna one, which means just lob a grenade at it, no hellbomb required.

Was about to comment regarding yesterdays patch and your take on it. I've only been playing a few days so the patch doesn't really change much for me, but your video was the most interesting to watch so far, and would definitely be interested to see you do a new video of the same type following the update! Love the video, have watched it a few times to get a handle on things :)

TBH not much with this build changed. the breaker shotgun is still just as usable but now more ammo hungry (smaller mags). the biggest hit was the rail gun (and shield backpack) but tbh i got kinda bored of using it anyways and swapped back to the default precision orbital. i get more enjoyment out of baiting chargers to charge like a bull then side stepping and tossing the precision on them. by the time they stop and turn around it usually will oneshot them. I will try to make a new video soon!

Yeah, I've been running Suicide solo too. Which mission type you choose is super important with how possible it is to do the mission. I too find the ICBM launch missions the easiest out of the missions to solo on level 7. Mine also take about 40 minutes. I also take cluster bombs, I take a orbital laser strike as I find it helps with big ones and also little horde clear too. I take the rail gun and I also take the shield backpack. The increase in survivability is fantastic with the shield. But watching this, maybe I'll try a run with the laser guard dog. It's what I ran before I unlocked the shield backpack and I like it for the consistent dps it provides. I tried and completed an egg nest destroy mission on solo suicide too. It was extremely difficult. I even kitted out for it specifically. I took the 120 and 380 orbital barrages as well as an eagle cluster. I'd use both barrages on the nest center but even then the barrages just don't hit the nest. Kind of a waste. I was thinking that I'd try to clear the nest via a bombardment so I don't have to go in, which is tantamount to suicide as a solo high player. Bombardments didn't work for shit though. So I had to go in anway. I had impact grenades though so I got in and cleared all of them. Very rough though. I wish the bombardments were more concise and accurate or there was some way to actually hit the eggs from outside of the nest. I also take trailblazer armor and helmet for the speed and stamina regen. I take stamina booster for the prolonged running. Due to the high speed of the armor, you can outrun a lot of engagements until they de aggro. Good vid. Glad to see someone come to the same conclusion armor and strategem wise that I have. FYI, if you're using the trailblazer, if you crouch you can sneak up on those research stations and stealth drop a hellbomb outside of the station without even alerting bugs. The bomb may or may not destroy all the buildings needed to complete the objective. I did one yesterday and stealthed the objective in one hellbomb.
The grenade launcher works very well against the eggs and bug holes, tho it does mean you might have to drop the railgun which might not be advisable. Probably better if you have a teammate so one of you can take railgun and the other takes 'nade launcher.
44 yo Democracy spreader checking in... I do this as well(solo,fast armor,suicide runs). I drop a 500kg at the entrance to the nest, clean up the stragglers with the grenade launcher, then run in there and spread Democracy all over. If I die I make sure to land on top of a spire(power steering helps with this)and finish the job. Rinse and repeat... P.S. Any bug tunneling up the spire to get you hates being meleed. It will one shot most bugs if they are still climbing out.
Idk why everyone has problems with stalkers ive always been able to easily take them out. Hordes of hunters are the vain of my existence though.
It’s because of the stagger when they hit you, it’s hard to recover. Also they probably have a subpar weapon that doesn’t kill them fast enough or stagger them.

I know it’s a bit limited by supplies but a well placed impact nade can really thin the herd when timed correctly I like to keep one in the back pocket for this. Just run far enough they seperate out from the defenders.
@@ufckinwhat i need to start running impacts on bugs. i got the incendiary and have been using that but impacting a hunter swarm sounds perfect actually

In a pinch you can use any hellpod that hits the ground to close holes. In this case your railgun or guard dog would have closed the hole.
You can use the minicliff rocks especially ones you can climb up and jump down withought getting hurt vs chargers. They get confused on pathway and stop charges dumbfounded for easy snipes.
Really wish the jet pack was more viable or the recharge could be faster I like running it with the arc thrower. Flame thrower is great too it’s just ineffective against heavy target 🎯
Fun fact: with the trailblazer armor + gps booster you can find the pink ressource rock on the mini map every run in about 1-3 minutes by checking map correctly if there are no spores ofc
Wouldn't it only show up as a point of interest? Or do you mean by the lack of enemies at a point of interest?

@@oliviapenelopehope4497You don't need a specific kind of armor or GPS booster to have things marked as "Point of interest" on the map when hovering over them. I don't know who had the idea that you had to have that booster/armor, since in neither descriptions it is mentioned.

The time on the map dosen't really effect the bug count other then increased patrols but those can be avoided. Completing the main objectives raises your heat level significantly.
Check the map when you land. Stalker nests will be a small red patch. When you ping that patch there will only be one dot.
It won't always be a red patch. I find it best to ping every black circle on the map, til it marks a stalker nest
Note the TYPES of bugs you see will tell you what evolutions to be on the watch. When you see Pouncers, the 'Mini Hunters' that is usually a planet with Stalkers as well. I also like using the UZI for when there are only tiny bugs to save shotty ammo.
The soundtrack in this video definitely makes the gameplay seem more lighthearted lol
I love how this game can be played basically any way you want. I just watched a video for solo helldiver where he used gas and napalm and was tier 10 for spreading democracy!

The music kinda reminds me of the “Baird turn that shit off!!” moment in the first Gears of War game.
I remember once joining a mission where I found Stalkers and advised to take out the nest and that was Ignored and knowing full well what would happen, lets just say the mission failed lol.
38:30 for democracy, oil and element 710 are worth fighting for
Light armor, shield, grenade launcher, and stamina booster handle pretty much any large map missions. The arena missions suck on solo unless you have some camping set up where no enemies can get to you or you fortify yourself with turrets and emplacements
What do you do when you come across medium or heavy bug nests that you want to take out, but run out of grenades for the bug holes? When I play in a team I always take a grenade launcher to use against bug holes and clear out groups as well as bile spewers, and leave the railguns to my teammates. Also I think a case could be made for Shield backpacks and jetpacks. The shield has saved my life many times over against things like Hunters, Stalkers, Bile Spewers, Bile Titans, and more than a few times against Chargers. The jetpack on the other hand greatly improves your mobility, whether that be dodging attacks, getting to advantageous positions like on top of rocks, or getting around the map faster.
the shield backpack is good if you run a light armor/speed build, you need the shield to not die with this setup. and recently I've ditched the railgun for the regular orbital precision strike just for fun, it and the eagle airstrike are great for bug holes.
I just started playing this game yesterday with a buddy who has been playing for awhile. He was dropping me the Anti Material Rifle, that is a bad assed weapon. I can only imagine how brutal some of the other weapons are.

Also if you stim before you run into fire to either get your things you dropped when died or to run through fire to get through it to the objective the stim saves you and you don’t die
great playthrough, picked up a lot of good tips. What's a good loadout for chargers and bile titans at lvl 15, before you have the railgun, orbital rail cannon, and shield backback?

Use the autocannon (it comes with a backpack with ammo) and the orbital laser strike. I actually prefer the laser over orbital rail cannon. It completely kills a titan and can take out 2 chargers
ive gotten really good at using the regular starting precision orbital strike to deal with chargers, if you run around them while they are charging they stop and turn around and wont move again till they line up with you. i take this time to throw the precision at them and just run a half circle around them so they spin, and before they charge again the orbital will one shot them even at full health.
bile titans can be a little tough at lower levels but a combination of eagle airstrike/500kg bomb, precision orbital, and the impact grenades on their squishy bits if they survive both generally will finish them off.

I’m not saying I wanna one shot everything, but, hmg and anti materiel rifle need to have at least a little armor penetration per round. I want to run with something other than the railgun, it’s all I use and it’s boring. I had a really good squad the other day and was able to use the flamethrower and focus on swarm clearing while my teammates dealt with heavies. It was the most fun I’ve had so far.
i have also made some adjustments to my playstyle. while i still think this video is accurate i got bored of using the railgun so i switched to light armor and a shield backpack, and i try to use the regular precision strike to deal with chargers and clean up titans. I still bring the orbital railgun though cause it's really unmatched f or titans.
I throw down the samples in the extraction a lot, in front of where the door of the pelican will open, if I know the direction, that way if any of us die we can just grab those on our way in.
My squad and I once ran a Helldive Difficulty mission and we got absolutely overwhelmed by Stalkers. After we failed the mission we found that there were 4 stalker nests out of the 5 side objectives. Keep in mind we were all level 50s are the time.
You may wanna try the punisher shotgun (I think one of the first weapons you get), for hunters and soloing, makes it super easy.

a combo of the default precision orbital, eagle airstrike, or 500kg bomb. you can bait the chargers to charge you then sidestep them and toss the precision, by the time it takes for them to stop and turn around it will one shot them (unless you have mission mod that slows orbital call ins or makes them inaccurate lol)
Not sure if someone else has commented this, but you should consider turning Bloom off in your graphic settings
I've had maps where there were Three stalker nests. Alongside the bile titans.
Hey, I heard you don’t like the Hunters. They’re very annoying because they will outchase you and hurt you before you can fight back. Best way to deal with them is a quick melee when they get close! It stuns them for a few and gives you time to stim/reload/shoot!
Run a flamethrower, gas strike , guard dog, and airstrike mission.
I can solo Suicide missions quite comfortably but I’ll never go above my station and try to solo Helldive. I’m fine staying at Suicide even if to some Helldive is “easy”.

I wonder how the other two missions looked like. I started finding good solo equipment with the extermination/defend maps. Very very hard. My best try was the last one but I accidentally swapped my orbital laser to the tesla sentry. bad choice xD
idk if u covered this or not but the super rare samples ONLY spawn by one particular looking rock in each map. it always looks like a mushroom cloud...or a phallic object everyone else calls it

As much as i love the drones, i trust the gatling turret more. Relative low cooldown & I can generally see where the damn thing is going to shoot and duck out of the way. Occasionally I do love running the Drones, theyre just so dang cool but I dont think im comfortable enough to run it on solo runs
i feel like if they just patched them to hover like 2-4 feet higher than they do, all problems would be solved lol

I found out Chargers can set off the Hellbombs found on the map if they charge into them, one of my WTF just happened deaths.

I would've appreciated a bit more explanation on your equipment loadout, such as your primary and secondary guns, armor class and which armor passives you recommend, and why you're taking those things along, the pros/cons and things like that. If you're going to make a guide, things like that are kind of a glaring omission.
A lot of those things are personal preference and anything can work.
Question please, what was the main gun and when you bring down the rail gun how do you switch between the two main ones? I find i switch between only the main and secondary

the main gun is the free warbond SG-228 breaker. it is overall the most well balanced gun for any situation, but some other guns do perform better/worse under specific circumstances. also go into the settings and you can change the weapon swap between the two main weapons to just press, and pull out the pistol with long press instead. i find this helps my gameplay a lot!

The lights won't affect enemies . Terminids go by "smell" and the automatons go by sound.
Why is everybody sleeping on the ammo pack? Those also give you stims and clutch nades when you need to take out hives not to mention being able to use your railgun more liberally since you have effectively 60 potential ammo.
You cant supply yourself with it tho?

Bc the shield and rover give you way more value and survivability. Ammo is not the issue at all with solo runs.
Whats the difference between the Eagle airstrike and the Eagle Napalm airtrike? Isn't napalm more effective?
napalm wont destroy buildings or bug holes/automaton factories. napalm also is just generally is better for groups of smaller bugs but not the bigger armored enemies or most automatons either.

I wish some team mates that I've had knew the value of pink samples I've literally been left on planet 3 different times trying to get to the extraction with the samples told them to wait also told them what I found and people just leave with out you
railgun got nerfed might wanna remake the video
all the other tips and guide work still hold up. tbh since i made this i got bored of the railgun and swapped it back to the starter precision orbital. more fun and more useful vs bug holes and robot factories. I think the shield backpack nerf is even more painful. perhaps I will make something new though to update everything!

My strat for hunters when I start to notice I'm getting overwhelmed is to spam the stim button until one goes off to buy some time then burst them down.
Quasar cannon with the dog I've found better results at helldiver, suicide is for fun. You do you tho. Rail gun had a major nerf last patch. Would like to see you do helldiver automatons solo
