  • After spending the majority of my 90+ hours on the creek i cannot thank you enough for this video, still learned several neat little things and after feeling the fun being drained out of the game for me this reignited it. You exactly showed how you should play against the bots on the creek. Hit and run guerilla warfare. Your point on 30:24 is probably one of the most important gameplay tips overall. You perfectly showcase how this game can be played without overwhelming frustration by acting level headed, adapting your tactics on the fly, repositioning and one of the most critical ones of all: picking your fights. No shame in running away and re-engage from a more favorable postion. Sadly so many players cant or wont really adapt to the different kind of strategic gameplay thats required when fighting against the automatons and go in these missions expecting to engage everything the same way you could against the bugs. And imo, if you have the general groove down how to fight in the creek nothing comes close to the satisfaction when your team is able to play like a godamn delta force blackops squad doing surgical strikes and vanishing in the jungles when you are dropping down to robonam in HD2. This video should be required watching before fighting the robots.

    @MadderR3d@MadderR3d2 ай бұрын
    • I appreciate that. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and found some of the tips useful! You're absolutely right and being able to reset the fight instead of playing HD2 like every other horde shooter is so important when things go the wrong way. It gives you the opportunity to learn from your mistakes and try a different approach, which adds a level of neucance and a skill curve I didn't know existed until the late game. There is so much more depth to this game than people realise!

      @Tomographic@Tomographic2 ай бұрын
    • @@Tomographic Exactly, you have think outside of the box, especially against the automatons. Many people dont even look at the smoke screen as one example and go "hey this could be a lifesaver if things get too out of control" The bugs are fairly predictable for the most part but the game feels vastly different against the bots. It really is a game thats easy to learn but hard to master and i can be so satisfying to overcome the odds highly stacked against your favor. Most of the players, me included, still have much to learn when it comes playing this game tactically. As the saying goes "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee" . Again, highly appreciated, made me activly want to go into the jungles of robonam and improve my game. Would never have thought that something as simple as this would re-ignite the spark in this capacity. Thanks from someone that grew up playing games on the c64,atari and nes!

  • I feel like this video in particular could be the most accurate representation of how much games have really progressed in absolutely all areas.... I used the game when I was younger ...now I just watch clips like this, filling that curiosity and getting to experience at least secondhand what gaming is really about, the agency that you can experience and the level of immersion... In the context of what I've just said I also want to highlight how far we've come the incremental improvements in games over the years if we were to look back to say Doom or Wolfenstein... The first Call of duty... And medal of Honor... For example. The difference is absolutely staggering, definitely gives some perspective and makes you appreciate how far gaming has come , particularly this game! When factoring in the resources required, it completely dwarfs some of larger studios capital they put into titles.. ... It's going to be so interesting, in the next 10 years for example chat GPT5 coming out the possibilities for coding and AI in some of the enemies for e.g. It's going to be even more crazy and progression in all aspects of game creation and user experiences. it's going to be orders of magnitude faster and better than any of us can really grasp... We really live in incredible times...

  • The fact that this game doesnt have stealth mechanics and just uses logic to detect and track you is amazing. It is brilliant that they do not immediately knnow where you are when u fire, just like in a real warzone most of the time

    @filippodaga1025@filippodaga1025Ай бұрын
    • it does tho. If it didn't have stealth mechanics, everyone would always know exactly where you are and what you're doing.

      @evanm1337@evanm1337Ай бұрын
    • I think the fact that there is a detection speed in the game though as he says his armor reduces the detection speed (30%), seems like a stealth mechanic to me. Melee attacks also have very little sound as I saw one guy test. I think there was also a leak that they were adding a suppressed gun as well but I’m not 100% sure about that that. Obviously it’s not stealth like ghost recon or splinter cell but I think it’s easy to argue that there are stealth mechanics in this game.

  • Hell yeah! That was so fun to watch. I'm only a level 10 and still blowing myself up, but love seeing how nuanced this game is. With the right approach and perseverance comes victory. • I also discovered how effective the Autocannon is against the bots! VERY nicely done! Love and appreciate the commentary! Thank you! I like your loadout, but personally I went for the Eagle Airstrike + Rocket Pods instead of the Laser / Smoke - helps me destroy those objectives VERY quickly. 👍 OH, ALSO: If you throw your Orbital Railcannon strike at the bot drop location BEFORE they drop, the Railcannon will focus the dropship, one-shotting it and killing everything on the ship. 👌

    @ShAd0w0100@ShAd0w01002 ай бұрын

    • @@Vel0cir A single Expendable AT shot at the engines will destroy a dropship. And with one of the more recent patches, those units will be destroyed when the dropship falls also. Before you would only sometimes be able to trap the units underneath, now they get destroyed properly if you shoot it down early enough. I haven't had much success with shooting the engines out with the autocannon. I think you need to be at the perfect angle for that.

    @BlackJack55_55@BlackJack55_552 ай бұрын
    • He mentions it, however it's very finicky. Sometimes you really don't want to stick around and sometimes the nade bounces off the bots coming out from the fab. If you have ample time, then there's nothing wrong with it, saves you some grenades, because usually you miss with the first impact.

  • I didn't know this game had this much strategy. Me and my friends have just been running around blowing shit up and getting surrounded. You actually seem like you're in control. You sneak in (which is honestly surprising because this game didn't come off as one with stealth), stay out of line if sight (i didn't know event awareness was technical, i figured one you blew shit up they just knew where you were), use specific weapons for enemies, and prevent them from reinforcing (which i also didn't know you could do). Like for real i thought this game was a mindless shooter where the most strategy employed was making sure you had your stategems when you needed them most, you've proven that there are actually different approaches to the game.

  • Pro tip... Enemies have reduced vision on the hellpod drop, but see all other drops just fine. So calling in a support drop near a patrol will cause them to come to your location to investigate. Love these mechanics!!!

    • I believe only the first Helldiver drop is "for free" (i.e. they are oblivious to it). The devs said this was done to be more fair to the players in a video from OperatorDrewski. But people usually start dropping their supports and this is what aggravates the bots and makes for a hectic start.

  • Helldivers brought back the love and joy for gaming for me. This game and its community is soo fucking good! And hearing that Helldivers 1 was supported for over 9 years makes me really excited for the future of this game! BTW big balls for doing SOLO on this difficulty.

  • I’m a very new helldiver, however I must say I commend your skill! I’m level 8 and playing as a duo, we can defeat terminid missions on challenging difficulty at this point (all bases cleared and objectives complete, however we have never collected all samples) fairly consistently. We’re really struggling with automatons however even on the difficulty lower we can complete and evac but can’t get nearly the same level of completion, I think we’ve been treating it the same as terminids trying to kite them and I’ve never thought of employing the type of guerilla warfare tactics that you’ve demonstrated! I’m really excited to try this approach! Thank you, patriot! With your help I hope to spread managed democracy in a much more efficient manner! (Where hopefully I die a lot less…)

  • God damn this is a good game. What else universally created that relief/amazement upon completion of mission. Only thing close was Dark Souls 1 and 3 / Bloodborne year one before so the walk throughs and exploits. I think this is even more intense. High praise.

  • I often have to tell the group to disengage because if a fight takes too long more patrols will show up and the reinforcement calls (drop ships/bug breaches) will come off cooldown. Doing a "dog leg" maneuver like you showed where you basically turn 90 degrees and run for a bit, then turn 90 degrees to reengage from a different angle/bypass the pursuit can save a LOT of time and reinforcement.

  • Great content, I actually thought you wouldn't make it but damn you did. One tip, at 35:00 you later left one fabricator alive and re-armed your Eagle Smoke. Eagle Smoke can destroy fabricators if the smoke shell lands on the buildings, so you could've used the last Eagle Smoke on that instead of re-arming.

    • It is! I'm always saying this, sometimes I'm after the experience of going through it but don't have the nerves/reflexes to actually do it on my own. It's a different sort of experience, this is like watching a movie, it tickles you, but there is no actual stress and/or frustration. I kinda prefer no commentary format, but Tomo's commentary is excellent.
