Chris Armstrong should definitely have seen red, and the ruckus after that distracted everyone form the fact that scummy desperate Spurs didn’t give the ball back to Arsenal who kicked it out for Vieira to receive treatment. They scored from that throw in.

Arsene Wenger inherited a wonderful squad but unfortunetly he never had a clear succession plan so he failed to maintain the standards of his team…its something that diffetentiate him with the likes of Pep and Sir Alex
@jessemhally538510 ай бұрын
No manager can compare to Ferguson, but Arsene only inherited a good to mediocre team. They had been 10th, 4th, 12th and 5th before he got there. He kept the goaltender and defenders, but when they won the league in 1998 there was only one midfielder (Parlour) and two forwards (Wright and Bergkamp) that he inherited. When they won the league in 2004 there were only four players left over from the ’98 winning team. The vast majority of players on their trophy winning teams were brought in by Arsene, not inherited. Without his constant recruitment, great game management and training methods (and nutrition and not drinking) Arsenal’s last league win would be 1991. The reason Arsenal fell off after 2004 is that they spent less money on players so they could pay for the Emirates. Essentially, the club chose a bigger stadium with a good-but-not-great team over a small stadium with a great team. Arsene clearly had a plan that kept them at or near the top of the league for eight years (and in the top four for 12 years after that, with three FA Cup wins in the 2010’s - and his seven wins is the most ever for a manager). Having said all that, I think he stayed a bit too long. It might have even been a good idea to leave when Henry left.

@ArturoGofunkez "Goaltender" 😂 DavidPlatt played for Arsenal before Wenger. Not just Parlour out of the midfielders and you can't leave Platt out he literally scored a massive goal vs ManUtd where they wouldn't have stood a chance of winning the PL without. Also Keown sometimes played midfield. Stephen Hughes also played for Arsenal before 97/98. They had a few low finishes in PL as you said 10th & 12th (out of 22, not 20) but they still won a couple of things 1of those years and the other at least got to a cup final.

@@FootkerSnookball You're right I should have at least mentioned Platt. He was great in his two years under Arsene, and the '98 win. And the word "goaltender" slipped out because I'm Canadian and that's what we call a so-called "goalkeeper" in hockey.
@ArturoGofunkez7 ай бұрын
@@ArturoGofunkez I know North American's call them goal tenders I just still found it funny when talking about this sport as the term is never used here it's goalkeeper, keeper, goalie (which I think you use as well) and as you're typing you could just be quick and say GK.
