I heard BTD for the first time over 5 years ago and will never forget the feeling I experienced when I first listened. I had no taste in music at that point in my life but Lana's music made me appreciate the power of music on such a higher level. Her music's sound literally takes you to a different mindset. I feel so good when I listen. At first listen, I was also obsessed with Radio. I will never be able to describe the feeling I got when listening to that sugary chorus. It's indescribable. I also was obsessed with Off To The Races because it was so dark and odd-sounding so it really enticed me. My favorites to this day are: 1.) Off To The Races 2.) Summertime Sadness 3.) Video Games 4.) National Anthem 5.) Radio

IMO, this is Lana's most upbeat album. She's clearly inspired by trip hop (especially Portishead). Her later albums kinda go in a more atmospheric, dreamy direction. Her later stuff is not bad, I just prefer this album.
@DavidTourian6 жыл бұрын
I feel like BTD, Paradise, and L4L is pop Lana, whereas Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, and now NFR is poetry Lana, like her two sides. Obviously she's poetic in all her music, but I feel like I personally prefer her less hooky, more lyrically dense, moody albums that really get me in my deep feels. Though her poppy stuff is definitely good and I'm never really not in the mood for it. I do think her poppy stuff is easier for people to listen to generally.

A little insight to her second full album. Ultraviolence is significantly different to Born to Die. The instrumentals and rhythm of things take a slower tone and pace, and she's a lot more explicit, whereas in Born to Die she would hint at things here and there. Ultraviolence is claimed to probably be her darkest album about relationships. She doesn't hold back on telling us how no matter how much physical, mental, and emotional abuse and manipulation happens, she's in love with him and she'll do anything and everything for him. Also please react to the deluxe songs on the Ultraviolence album because there are two songs ('Black Beauty' and 'Is This Happiness') that are absolute heaven even though it's not anything to be happy about. As a short summary I would describe this album as depressing but angelic at the same time. But that's just my analysis on the album, you may think something completely different. 💝

My favorites to this day are: 1.) Off To The Races 2.) Summertime Sadness 3.) Video Games 4.) National Anthem 5.) Radio
i’ve never related to anything else so much

IMO, this is Lana's most upbeat album. She's clearly inspired by trip hop (especially Portishead). Her later albums kinda go in a more atmospheric, dreamy direction. Her later stuff is not bad, I just prefer this album.
I do think her poppy stuff is easier for people to listen to generally.
i prefer ultraviolence for personal reasons, BTD is perfect
Same
The only album I have in its entirety of Hers. Her other albums have nice moments but this album Is truly exceptional
LFL has huge hip hop influence as compared to BTD
