    • Maybe in an instinctive way, but if I remberer correctly the tethered version of Adelaide wasn't really aware that she wasn't her surface counterpart. I think the ending kind of implied that after the swapping the tethered Adelaide suppressed with time the memories of her childhood in the tunnels, and the memories started to surface again only after she killed her non-tethered version.

    • I realise the movie intended the fact that they switched to be a twist, but I just didn't find it a very good twist because when I watched I honestly thought from the start we were supposed to gather that they switched. I mean it just seemed obvious - the two looked exactly alike and we never actually saw Adelaide escape so seemed like the logical conclusion. Especially when Adelaide's mother said "I just want my daughter back" or something along those lines to the therapist, I thought to myself "ok for sure that's not the real Adelaide". So during my whole first time watching I already was going on that assumption so the "twist" at the ending was pretty dissatisfying. I can't be the only one.

  • I haven’t seen this movie but y’all don’t realise how scary home invasions are until you’ve experienced one, especially if you’re at a disadvantage. Here’s a little story for ya from my pre-teen years. I guarantee you this is 100% true, and just goes to show that you shouldn’t disable one of your senses when home alone at night. (You’ll see what i mean by that in a bit) When i was younger, probably about 12 or 11, i was home alone because my parents and younger sister were a few houses down at a get together with our neighbours. I was quite the introvert back then so i had requested to stay home so i could chill out and play video games. I was upstairs with headphones on playing Halo 2 when i heard something. It’s hard to explain what exactly but it was incongruous enough thwt i took my headphones off and listened for a bit. I had a record of getting scared when i was alone and calling my mum, and i didn’t want to look like a sook, so i decided to man up and just ignore whatever it was, hoping it was my cat or something. However, i decide to keep playing my game without my headphones, just in case. Only a few moments later i hear talking, and oddly enough i wasn’t that scared, because of how casual the voices were. There were two people, a man and a woman, just talking to eachother about my house. They were talking so loudly and normally that i guess it tricked my brain into thinking everything was fine. Anyway, i quickly overcame this and began freaking out, and became very self aware. I turned off my tv but not my xbox because it would make a sound, and i was too afraid to move. I listened sharply, hoping that somehow it was just people walking outside, as we lived near a train station so a lot of people went past our house. But it wasn’t. I heard the woman tell the man to check upstairs and that’s when i knew i needed to move. My house was pretty big but we weren’t rich or anything, not even close. My dad was just a builder and had done most of it himself. The upstairs area consisted of a small rumpus area with the tv and a beanbag and stuff, and then there were three bedrooms and a bathroom, two of the rooms were me and my sister’s and the third was a guest bedroom. As i hear the woman moving things around downstairs and going through stuff, i hear the man walking slowly but loudly up the stairs. They weren’t being very quiet about it, as obviously they assumed my family was away. I retreat slowly and quietly to my room and just barely make it in as the man reaches the living area. My room was pretty big and had a small ensuite with my clothes in it, and a big window that could open out. I heard him enter the guest room, and realised he was searching every room. He leaves the guest room quickly because there was like nothing in there except a bed and two lamps. I decide that i can either hide in my cupboard and hope he doesn’t go through my shit, or i can try and sneak out onto the roof through my window, which i had only ever done once by accident when i fell out of it and injured myself on a trampoline below. I decide to choose the second option, as even at that age i was quite a tall kid and my ensuite was too open to hide me well enough. I start to unwind the window when it makes a huge sound and the whole house goes silent as i hyperventilate. I hear the woman call out to the man and she asks a question, but i’m too scared to understand or even listen to her. Then my body takes over and i go nuts, unwinding the window as fast and as loud as i can as the man turns the corner of my room to see me practically leap out of my window onto the tin roof, which was really slippery and sloped. I get a foothold on the gutter and book it around the house, as he comes out onto a balcony and tries to talk to me. Me, being a scared little idiot, stops and listens to him. He says something about being my dad’s friend or some shit, but i nervously muster up the balls to tell him to go fuck himself as i start climbing down the side of my house. You see, i remembered when i was a kid i used to pretend to be spiderman by climbing up the side wall of my house, which had these rather large gaps between wood slats in it as there was nothing behind it and they were just there for looks. However i quickly realise that these gaps are way smaller for a pubescant kid than they were for a seven year old in a spiderman outfit, and i fall about 7 feet into our garden. I climb my neighbours fence, again from experience as a child, and then book it across two backyards and a patio to my parents down the street. And the rest is history, the people in our house were never found, and the police assume they took off after i made it to the first neighbour’s house. They stole my iPad, which had been charging downstairs, two phones, my nintendo ds and my panasonic cd walkman, which was a gift from my dad and probably my most prized possession. About a year later we moved out of that house, which i also suspect was haunted (if you wanna know that story tell me and i’ll give a short rundown, because i don’t really believe in ghosts but i find it hard to explain that shit).

      @biddumohan5157@biddumohan51574 жыл бұрын
    • Biddu Mohan Righto, so when i was young, probably around six or seven years old, i was up late one night playing or something in my room. I used to do it a lot but i would always make it into bed in time to pretend to be asleep before my parents came in. This was before our renovation so my room was still on the first floor as the second didn’t exist yet. Our house was pretty old, at least by Australian standards, and i had always had an uncomfortable feeling there. This one particular night, i hear heavy footsteps coming down the hallway, and, certain that it’s my dad, i quietly climb into bed to pretend to be asleep. The door swings open very slowly and i open my eyes just barely enough to see, as this behaviour was a bit odd. I see the silhouette of a man in my doorway, but it’s strange and even though it’s completely black as a shadow i can tell it isn’t my dad. It’s unnaturally tall and very thin. I’m petrified, literally frozen with fear and it takes a really long time for this person to leave. Now, if this was the only encounter i’d chalk it up to a child’s imagination or a fear of the dark or whatever, something that makes sense. But it wasn’t. For about a year or two i keep seeing this figure, and my parents learn of him quickly. As i was still a kid and totally unaware of social norms, i refer to him as “the black man”. Looking back it probably wasn’t the best name but he was literally totally black, like a void. Anyway, he never moves, just stands there, no facial features or anything. My dad doesn’t take it seriously, understandably, and says it’s an imaginary friend. My mum is a bit more superstitious though, and one day as i sit at the kitchen counter and she cuts up carrots or something with a large knife, i suddenly turn to her and say “the black man doesn’t like you doing that.” She stops for a moment before asking me where he is, and i tell her he’s behind her. She thrusts the knife around and i can’t remember much else about that. Shortly afterwards he stopped appearing, and i guess my family got over it. But as i got older i became more interested in this, and did some research on my house. It turns out that an elderly man had passed away in my bedroom, which used to be a living room. He had died in his chair. Now, i am aware that people die everywhere, and that ghosts aren’t real, and i don’t believe in them. But i also heard other stories of people encountering the same figures in their homes. I don’t think he was harmful or ever had any malicious intent, he never did anything. He just stood there, like a watcher. My memory of him, or it, or whatever, is fading and so i am trying to get as many details as i can remember down. But yeah, that’s my little ghost story. So not all ghosts are bad i guess, although he wasn’t necessarily good, either.

Being taken away from your normal life to get stuck in literal hell, evil doppelgangers who want to kill you, home invasion with no real weapons, uncontrolable mass murder caused by a effed up science experiment gone wrong like terrifying.
