This week's outing to our local brocante is especially fruitful. Philip and I return with a huge haul of goodies to embellish the chateau! And the green sofa that we bought on a previous charity shop trip is finally delivered and arranged beautifully in the sitting room of the Marquis' Apartment...
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
In 'Sundays at the Chateau', chatelaine Stephanie answers all your questions about life in the 16th century Chateau de Lalande, and introduces you to the cultural and gastronomic treasures of France ❤️
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. You have made The Chateau Diaries one of the top 500 Patreon accounts in the world, and have transformed not only out lives here, but the future of this beautiful chateau! I’m overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

  • I Absolutely HATED to see this video end. Your 'Brocante Episodes' are getting SO GOOD. I loved watching them before, but now I am coming to adore them. Just an iDEA: I think you should set aside a little more funds for purchases for those episodes. The restoring bits whether painting, staining, waxing, refashioning, tearing apart and remaking, reupholstering et all just set them off so well. Seeing the whole process from finding the item, fixing the item, placing the item, and finishing the item with decorations -"PERFECTION."

    • Yes, Kristen Hudson, I agree with you fully. The same goes for a before and after doing each room at the chateau and the process of course. Everything there is made so interesting by Stephanie et all. Absolute perfection even with the difficult moments that are meant to happen to give them all the stamina and determination needed to carry on. I also HATE to see her shows coming to an end.

    • Living close to the Brocante & not buy anything would require killer discipline.🥑Avo-toast is a staple for me! 🍵Hard not to try hot tea when it is served with such glorious pomp & ceremony. Ordinarily, I'm not much for a hot beverage. 🎉 Making a beautiful table & breaking bread together with fine company is a lovely thing❣ [sigh] That is part of the joy of living with others. Left to my own devices, I just can't be bothered. Anything to reduce labor &/or dirty the least amount of dishes👍. There is always something better to do, like getting lost in a book📚, than create more work for myself. Don't begrudge going to the extra effort for others, esp. for those who appreciate a little TLC. ☮💛🌼

  • i have noticed on several occasions how beautiful the rolling clouds and the cloudscapes are in the vids. to me, many seem to have a beautiful lilac color and some unusually beautiful grey tones. many times i get completely distracted by the background, and i often wonder if anyone there stops their activities just to see the beauty surrounding the chateau. as a fairly serious student of art (oils, etc.), i do so enjoy the lay of the land, and i am often daydreaming about the many years past. i know that i am romanticizing an era when many daily activities were quite burdensome, but it is so nice to see folk breathing life back into this old lady.

    • They are super comfy chairs. I sat in those for quite a while because I went to the same Brocante, probably earlier on the same day as Stephanie. The chairs are also featured in my vlog this Wednesday evening. I loved them and really wanted to buy them but my husband didn't like the colour!!

  • I went to our Emmaus yesterday and found an old round metal garden table with layers and layers of chipped paint on it, lovely colours, for ten euros. I then found a large ceramic sort of mid century lamp base which was 9 euros and I hesitated then bought it then at home thought that it was fabulous. I found an old Ikat silk scarf to cover a shade. As you say Stephanie you have to imagine these finds out of context and home ! Love these stores as you NEVER know what you will find next! xoxoxo

The snow should not wet your rug ! Clean both side with brooms ! And make sure you shake the rug before it comes back to the house !

  • The carpet cleaner you were using....well...it's for spot cleaning only. You were also doing it wrong. You spray an area and gently scrub then go over the area dragging the head toward you with it flat down on the rug....this will suck up the water/ cleaner.
