I had a scaary experience too at age 19. I was working outside on the farm on a friggin hot summer day (it was like 35° Celsius) and I was a bit dehydrated but I kept doing my thing. Until a wasp got into my shirt and stang be right in the armpit. I never had problems with stings before so I just went in the house and let my Mom check if the spike was out, then I continued working. Suddenly I felt like something was more wrong than it was before, my field of view startet narrowing at the edges. I stopped the tractor, jumped down and sprinted into the house. When I opened the kitchen door (my Mom and my Sis were at home, nobody else on the farm that day) I just said: "I'm having a real problem, I can't see." Because at that point my sight just burst into pieces, like old cable TVs when they're off program. Had a shock from that bee sting and a few minutes in my heart rate went to practically 0, I could've been able to say a full sentence between the beats. If my Mom and my Sis weren't there that day keeping talking to me and getting me ice cold watered towels and a foot bath I might've died that day... Sry for the essay. That never happened to me again luckily but it's definitely scary as hell to have a near death experience at this age (I had motorbike accidents before but those are nothing compared to this). I hope the MOAR powa babbe guy will appear in vids again regularly. Best wishes to the crew 👍🏻
That's wild mate, glad you're still with us

@@rollei35mm don't know if you mean that I might be an Australian but I'll have to disappoint you on that one. I'm more of an Austrian. And not even that applies, I'm from Bavaria, Germany (next to Austria)
Glad your back James!! Guys don’t stop doing sad stuff! The history is real and needs to be told, and a lot of younger folks wouldn’t know this history if it wasn’t for you guys!! Keep up the amazing podcast. I’m a fan for life. Pop up up and down headlights!! Ugh!
I'm 31 and guess i lived kind of unhealthy like james did in the past, so it's good to know that i have 3 more years to life.
Expando shit fam İs it a type of cancer o smthn? Feel bad for you...

"Weed whacking" "High jacking" "Smokin and strokin"
Ok Booomer
"Kids"
Yeah, eating no meat is so unhealthy.
Damn Nolan do you smoke?
Damn hearing a story like this makes me wonder how Ford as a brand survives to this day. And this was before the Pinto too
Y’all need to do one on DeLorean.
they will...
A time machine can't help me get my 6 minutes back
They DID! (cool) kzhead.info/sun/msyrcrSXsZNtZ68/bejne.html
Chaim Loecher ikk but I was asking 4 months ago and they did it 2 months ago. Soo, they do listen to us in the comments.
Nice to see James gettin back Up To Speed again.
Fordlandia being less offensive than the Mustang Mach E, thank you for giving me one good laugh in the end!
Yeah I'm not a ford fanboy but I was so pissed when they called that thing a mustang
@@jackmoore9709 I wasn't, I think it's a cool car and I'm not a mustang weeb so I have no issues with it.
Please do the story of Mickey Thompson. Also glad to have you back DAD!
I had to get a pacemaker and defibrillator implant at 25 years old. I've had heart failure four times. I've been shocked by my defibrillator several times. Sucks being young with heart problems.
Glad we still have you with us!
Loperamide abuse? What drugs are you taking that are fucking up your heart buddy?
@@dcam1760 my Genetic Becker muscular dystrophy causes cardiomyopathy. And I made it worse. I was also a heavy smoker from 12, pint of whiskey everyday for 8 years . I've only done small bumps of Coke 18-21yo. Never enough to get my heart beating too fast and damaging my heart. But when I was younger I was told muscular dystrophy didn't affect the heart. But it does. If I would have known that I never would have smoked drank snorted anyting. I probably could have lived to 60+. I'm lucky if I make it another 10 years at 37.
It’s possible that Brazil hadn’t adopted the 1 hr time zones in that era. Prior to these time zones, each city would base their local time off when the sun was at its highest using telescopes/observatories to monitor this and drop a time ball at exactly noon to signal noon daily (the origin of dropping the ball on New Years). Unfortunately trains traveling between cities and sharing rails would risk crashing and so the railroads played a big role in standardizing the one hour time zone system in the US. This was in the late 1800s, though. Again, Brazil may have not adopted this system yet or they could be basing the “almost 1 hr” based on the pre-timezone system local solar noon. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
Watching Nolan fidget with things is quickly becoming my favorite part of these episodes
Best wishes to James!!!💪 And all the best to the whole Donut-Team!!!💪
Crazy story glad you guys featured this as it show a light on history that people would otherwise forget.
Yes!! That's the journey to the first drop sorted tomorrow love donut podcasts and the channel itself obviously
I get unbelievably excited each time these are released
"I had to spend 2 weeks at home. I got so bored." You caused this JAMES.
Damn I’m really glad James pulled through. Couldn’t imagine if anything bad happened to anyone at Donut. Stay safe guys and keep bringing us the content!!!

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I for one am quite thankful that James is alive... its pretty cool that he survived....😂
History aint always good but keep telling these stories alot of people probably never heard some of these stories
Greatto have you back James! Its only Mo Powa Babeh from here on out
I'm surprised there was no mention of the wonderful book, by Greg Grandin, Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford's Forgotten Jungle City. Other wise, great episode!!
I had one of those when I was walking around last year with a brain aneurysm, the wrist through the arteries. Nurses didn’t know how to do it well so I got stuck 4 times due to it
"I got so bored. I was home for 2 weeks" well...that didnt age well
Im glad you have such a great attitude. Keep being badass man. We love u
This is a very real and raw James. I’m the same age as James and I can see the genuine emotion in his face at the beginning of this podcast. He hasn’t really put the character of “James” on in this episode and as a long time fan it’s refreshing to see.
My dads a mechanic so you are more like the car uncle to me, anyways i know im watching these later but I did miss the episodes you were gone on! Glad you’re back and looking much better now! 👍🏽
hope you get better you and nolan are my fav people from donut you guys are funny and chill👌👌👌👌👌
Nolan needs a fidget spinner! Also welcome back James!
I just spotted that what's he doing is that sticker falling off his laptop or what lol
scott matthews I noticed that too! Also his phone, headphone cable and his fingers. I do it myself too but he just can’t seem to stop haha
Glad you made it to the hospital and are doing better James.
who thinks james and nolan would be better leaders to start a donutlandia
Man, James saying "what a bunch of maroons" really brought back some not so great memories of my grandpa
Your grandpa was based
I am Brazilian, I live in Brazil, city of Jales. Brazil does not preserve its own memory. it's unfortunate. my name is Eliel-Pina
I've been going back through all of your podcasts. The production quality is amazing and the subjects and research behind are brilliant. Thank you so much for this podcast. Literally my favourite of all time.
i live in a town that use to have a factor whistle that went off at set times, and wildlife didnt seem to care.. saw and still see all sorts of wild animals here... even some that... normally stay higher up in the hills...
Best episode out
Great episode guys! Great info. Very interested in the subject. @Donut Podcasts, Can I ask what your main source for this info was? Some of this info I have never heard before! Thanks a lot! :)
God, do i love your podcasts
My dad recently had a scare with a near complete blockage. Jay Bouwmeester had a heart attack on the bench in a blues hockey game the other day and a couple other people I have heard about with surprise heart issues. I’ve been walking around hyper aware of my pulse lately.
I had 2 non fatal heart attacks in my life, Im glad to be alive, dont take life for granted, im grateful that it wasn't worse than what it is
Yo thank god you got there in time. 🙏🏾
😲🤩😲😍 Best Wishes too the QB (James)
I also have a stint. Mine is in my aorta. Needed it when I was 16. Hope you're doing well
Give Nolan a raise!
Some time zones are split by half an hour, and I think theres even a few 15-minute ones.
Great episode... wow ... so Ford has a great "E"lectric car name in their stash of trademarks but all they can think of is the poor Mustang. WOW, I would love to watch a similar episode on Jim Haccket
I would really like to see a project mini-series dedicated to designing and building and racing a baja 500 car truck or suv. I know that your show doesn't revolve around my wants and needs, but I'll buy you guys lunch anywhere you want if you do it.
James, just gonna point out. Carol Shelby had heart problems in his 30s and he still turned performance into his business. Maybe it’s a right of passage
I already listened to this on Spotify
No one cares
Do you want a gold star buddy
Yes I would love a gold ⭐️
Ok
PAST GAS. POD CAST. sounds like WAYNE'S WORLD WAYNE'S WORLD 👍
He is back.
Additional info and pictures here: www.businessinsider.com/fordlandia-henry-ford-city-brazil-rainforest-ghost-town-photos-2018-12 "Fordlandia residents were fed a meatless diet, modeled after Ford's vegetarian eating, and were served things like brown rice, whole-wheat bread, and oatmeal. They were pushed to attend poetry readings and English-language-only singing sessions, and alcohol and prostitution were prohibited. Many workers railed against those restrictions, and some established a bar and a brothel on a nearby island. They called it "the Island of Innocence." Ford also built a dance hall in hopes that his Brazilian workers would take to square dancing as much as he had. In fact, Ford hoped that Brazilians working in the settlement would adhere to every one of the societal expectations he set. But ultimately, workers clashed culturally with Ford's American vision of idealism. The tipping point came in 1930 when the dining hall stopped its wait service and shifted to a self-serve cafeteria style."
Me sitting here wandering why they only got 52k on this channel and not at least 500k or the full 3mil like on donut media
What a way to close it indeed!!! 😄
James you are beast
good on you to talk about healthy diet. proud of you guys.
When they say "you can't a Ford it." How can you afford not to a Ford it!
Can we get one on Soichiro Honda?
I need this.
James get well plssss
I think I'm going to the doctor thank you James
james is a chief!
Timezones are split up by an hour apart on the north and south America side of the globe.there are 4 time zones that differ an hour from each other and 3 hours from east coast to west coast
You know the Jame is great when he can say and old meme and it is still funny
you guys need to show example pics of the thing you’re mentioning pleaseeee!!
I had bypass surgery. I had a coarctation of the aorta so the rerouted the artery in my left arm to fix the issue. Now I have a large scar going around Me 👌
I'm so sorry to hear your situation bro ❤ Best of luck with your recovery and life moving forwards. Plz take care of yourself, as you 2 as motivated us all watching 👀 😇😇 Down here from 🇦🇺🇦🇺😎❤ Maybe you are no longer the QB, You are becoming MORBUIS the OG
The guy from Flipping Mastery TV looks exactly like James without glasses tho
"Ford realized he was screwed by Brazilian politicians" Brazilians: welcome to the club dude
Newfoundland, Canada runs on it's own specific time zone, Newfoundland Time, and it's actually a half-hour ahead of Atlantic Time. Fun fact
Time zones are generally 1hr, but there are half hour zones too
Or in Nepal they have a 45 min time zone as in UTC +05:45
@@joonaaskr Canada has like,3 more zones than America on the east coast alone
Afghanistan is in one of those weird .5 hour time zones.
@@joshsamuelson1793 see James!!!
Do the Nissan plant in Smyrna Tennessee
if i was in the hospital like that Endurance sports car races, indycar and Flo Racing i still wouldn't get caught up
over 1000 races a year on Flo
Annnnnd that's the last time a new Ford is gonna be on the channel
The time zone thing makes sense because time zones are done on the x axis not the y axis across the globe and because Brazil is pretty much directly south of Michigan it is not far off their time zone.
Brazilian here. The Brasilia standard time is one hour ahead of Michigan. It works, but it's unnecessary exactly because of this reason
No one is gonna mention NOS?
You know what, I’m gonna say it. NOS shot themselves in the foot. Glad you’re okay, James. Love from Louisville.
James, we love ya bro, welcome back! health and godspeed! The Donut crew rox!

I am going back and starting from the beginning on Past Gas. This may be two of the most painful hours of my life, especially in light of recent events. No wonder Hank the Deuce ends up being such an ass.
Dear James, Did you not only predict the bats that changed our lives with their squeaks, but you also predicted staying at home for two weeks for our health. A true profit and I cannot wait for the next update.
Docking talk just made me shoot coke (the drink) over my desk, thanks guys.
Did James have a classic car movie marathon? Did you watch The Mandalorian?
Nolan's ADD is showing. Rubbing the edge of the sticker on the back of the laptop lol
Get this man a fidget spinner
DADS BACK!!
The Fire Festival of auto manufacturing.
If James has a heart attack, we all have a heart attack.
Communism
Quit playing with your phone!!! Yeah,,, You Nolan!!!
Newfoundland is 30 minutes ahead of EST.
Is anyone else annoyed that their tables aren’t straight in relation to each other? Lol
Mumbai is in a half hour different timezone than it's surrounding areas. Fun fact.
Timezones are sectioned by hour but think about this Texas and Alabama are in the same time zone Alabama is closer to eastern time than Texas so there's probably 30 mins different of time based on the sun
what car did you drive to the hospital??
Now I’m wondering how many heart attacks I’ve had? Cause this is all very familiar🤨 Hmm. Sucks not driving?
Maybe you should go for a check up too then?
goddamnit henry
That outro music cuts in way too soon
