  • Btw - It‘s not that Leonardo‘s and Jennifer‘s real life interview that went wrong . It‘s their characters‘ (‘staged’) interview depicted in a scene of that movie that is scripted to go wrong . That movie is funny, scary and depressing at the same time, because it shows and reminds us how nowadays bipartisan politics can override or confuse common sense of the science . Science is typically established by mostly the respected university community and has gone through their strict peer reviews. The general public acceptance of that science used to be pretty straight forward , just as we all agree that the earth rotates around the sun , without having to proof it ourselves , and by just reading scientific articles about it. By using KZhead or Facebook on a computer we indirectly accept that electricity was discovered based on science. By driving a car and flying on airplanes we blindly accept that they are built based on a technology that‘s resulted out of science.

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance’ Carl Sagan

  • Switching to renewable energy is necessary whether or not the planet is being destroyed, so I don’t see the need to be alarmist. There’s a way to approach the problem that doesn’t divide people into believers and nonbelievers.

    • You’re exactly like the character they showed being interviewed who had an up arrow and a down arrow. Basically, part of the problem.

    • @@CgColleenGorman Anyone who incites a reaction out of you through the use of fear is not your friend. It was written: ‘when a thief wishes to steal from you, first he must bind your hands.’ Truth is never fear mongering, not even in the face of great danger. Truth is merely spoken, and those who have ears to listen do so.
