    • The problem is with movies that are about climate change have to use metaphors or go OTT because if they made them with actual climate change in mind it would be a groundhog style movie where some guy keeps saying how an area will be underwater in 20 years and its our last chance to stop it. Every 20 years he would come back and say another 20 years and its definitely our last chance... Before eventually being buried in the same ground he said would be underwater. And that doesn't make people worried and hysterical does it

Also, as it’s a Netflix film people will have other distractions which makes it easier to turn it off. Guarantee these people wouldn’t leave the cinema twenty minutes in, and if they did would be smaller percentage than the ones claiming they turned it off

    • What we know about Socrates, we know thanks to one of his 'students' Plato. The ideas from one of the greatest minds have been distilled through the brain of another important 'thinker' of our species. Socrates is famous for encouraging people to doubt everything and everybody - even themselves. 'The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing!' One of the reasons why he was killed. Language is nothing but made up sounds and signs. Words have a meaning because we give them a meaning, ideas have power because we allow them to have power. It's true our species is superior in certain fields, but we aren't worth more than all the other Earthlings. At the end, we are nothing but cells, part of a bigger organism ... simply experiencing itself. Space travel is such a enticing fantasy, yet our bodies can only survive on this planet and only under certain circumstances.

Started consuming and demanding more and more. As a result, to see a totally natural area is almost impossible today. Even in a country like Turkey, every way you look around you see a mine, a factory, buildings, highways and such. It’s disturbing that majority still don’t realize that our lives depend on the nature. This makes me angry and most of the times sad. Yeah, the movie made me cry too 😢 Last year, Greece and Turkey had multiple wildfires. Turkish government claimed that they didn’t have fire planes while 12 of then laying in the capital city. The fires could be ended in a couple days but it lasted for 2 weeks! They just watched entire forests turned to dust. The temperatures jumped to 50 Celsius which has never been experienced in history. Eventually, it turned out that fire zones already determined as mining search areas🤦‍♂️ the fucking politics and some Canadian-Turkish company behind all this shit. This makes me emotional about the surroundings I guess 🤔

  • I want a bumper sticker that says, "Are those feathers?" Some scenes were absolutely hilarious, like when Meryl Streep (the president) gave a speech and it ended with a rousing number from the band and fireworks. I mean, seriously, isn't that _exactly_ what a ratings-driven politician would do? Other than that, most of the scenes were definitely art imitating life. My greatest distress came from watching the clips of animals, either when they were going about their lives near the end or when the end was directly upon them. And I'll never forget that innocent baby's face as long as I live. What an amazing movie.

It's a commentary on so many aspects of our culture from our short attention spans, to how all of our institutions that claim to have our best interests at heart really only care about themselves. It's crazy how we think of ourselves as so much smarter than animals and yet we could still suffer the same fate of the dinosaurs.

They're complaining about it not converting anyone and being spiteful and pointless. That's the point. It's already too late and the director is spiteful about that. They didn't get it. Because they're too self involved to know it's too late. They think it's not and we'll save the day like the movie they wanted. But like this movie, they'll be no happy endings or likable characters and you'll still be alive to watch the credits roll. You weren't supposed to enjoy it. You were supposed to find it uncomfortable. For the record I say 7.5/10 It was good. Not great. I think the team has satirical greatness in them though and I hope they give it another shot with another subject. Including Leo and JL. Nice to see huge stars in satire. If we're all doomed (and we almost certainly are if you read the data) then let's go out making f••king great satire about it. It's all we can do. Who does everyone remember most from the Titanic? The band. They're just cool. 7.7 is also a very good score considering the right-wing cuckoo brigade will be review bombing it with climate denial and complaints of "wokeness". The stupid are thankfully very predictable. ✌🏽
