(Original airdate: 12/10/03) Bob Odenkirk's previous appearance got him banned from the show for a couple of years. Plus, Bob shows a clip from the Frank International Film Festival. Watch more classic clips @ conanclassic.com.
So Bob's strategy was to look really old for his age at 30ish then not age for 20 years.

I get the feeling that Bob lives a lot of his life just seeing sketches in his mind, always writing on some level. Discovered him on Tim and Eric, had no idea about his career, guy is pretty prolific and talented to say the least.

Same here. I didn't watch Mr. Show growing up but that joint is hilarious too.
Odenkirk is completely under-rated as an actor. He deserves a lot more.
I think these days he’s under rated as a comedian
I agree he’s really captivating
He's got one of the biggest shows on television right now and has won dozens of awards, I think he's doing fine for recognition
It's going well for Bob these days. Great for him. He deserves it.

It's amazing how similar the fictional episode looks and feels like the Eric Andre Show. I wouldn't be surprised if Eric watched this and got the idea for his show.
Eric Andre got the idea for his show by watching Tom Green on MTV.
He credits Conan as one of his inspirations, though
Eric credits Tom Green as one of his biggest inspirations. Tom started as a cable access show in Ottawa and ran for a long time before getting a show for the comedy network in Canada and then MTV. If you like eric andre you'll really like Tom Greens cable access show
Yes, because everyone can only directly copy one little thing they saw (which is always accidentally something you also came across), brains and the whole depth of time, everything that happens outside of your computer screen, are a myth.
Can’t forget the Space Ghost Coast to Coast influence for Eric Andre

I used to work at Deja Vu, a dance club in Columbia, Mo back when I was a student at U. of Missouri. There was a comedy club on the top floor, and we would have live stand up every week. I always looked forward to Odenkirk's gigs, he was head and shoulders above the average touring comedian. Just brilliant. So satisfying to watch him become the megastar he is today, he earned every bit of it.
When were you there?? I was at Mizzou from 1991-95. I basically lived at Shattered and the Blue Note. Wish I had been clued in more to small, live stand-up at that time, who knows who I missed back then.
Man I miss that place! Had some really good shows there!
I hate that the Deja Vu closed down. So many GREAT comedians came through there due to it being a major college town and located directly in the center of the Midwest. I met Chris Kattan there. That was huge for me. Also discovered Nick Tune there. Saw Ralphie May both times. Great club. Also loved that fucking Billy Zane grape drink and wish I had the recipe!

Never heard of him … Kevin Costner is a good actor though.

"You can come up with technical terms, if you want" is such a quick-witted and funny response.
I love Bob Odenkirk. Seriously he is one of the most talented actors there are right now.
He’s so good and underrated that he moved Gary Oldman to my second favorite actor.
Better call Saul
Gary Oldman is super overrated
That first zinger by Bob Odenkirk was so perfect! "Did my snoring bother you? When you'd read your comedy stuff to me" so perfect!
Geez didn’t even catch that till I read your comment hah.
This guy is very convincing..I would put him in a show as a lawyer
Awful !
Dunno, seems kinda sketchy…
Don't worry about people calling your joke awful s'all good man!
Shut up
Bob Odenkirk today finally getting the recognition he deserves from his performance on Better Call Saul
I don't want to be that "guy" and say "just keep watching it gets better", but it does pay off. Keep watching if you like, but in my opinion (as some random Jerk Off online); it gets much better. You're right, it's slow and boring at first. My cousin told me to watch it and I thought I was going to be a half ass lawyer show, but, I was wrong. You're halfway through, so if you're not sold on it right now; then it's just not your thing.
I'll be honest, I didn't go for Better call Saul...but I'll tell you that Bob's character as Saul was one of the highlights of Breaking Bad. hands down.
@Thegga Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two very different shows. Better Call Saul is an extremely great show but you have to be a person who likes story without action and unnecessary drama. The way it goes about the storytelling is more akin to something like There Will Be Blood or Licorice Pizza I think if you like or hate Better Call Saul will depend on your tastes and if you like shows that are faster tempo or like slower tempo shows more that have a different and unique storytelling approach (non-verbal shots that tell story, shots that seem insignificant or irrelevant but are actually telling important character development but you will realise it later) It's basically like a puzzle that is being built before your eyes and by the end you see the entire puzzle for the first time. That's the best metaphor I can come up with
@Thegga each their own. I actually like better call saul way more than BB. BB only first season was good..
I love Bob but I really want him and David to go back and make more Mr Show lol. BCS is awesome too, but I really really miss Mr sHow
Dude Fred Armisen hasn't entered my mind in years. He and Bill Hader where one of SNL's best duos ever. I'm gonna go binge watch him now.

I think Bob has been severely underrated for many years. I liked him back on the Ben Stiller show back in the 90's. It's nice to see him coming into his own now.
And Stiller is way overrated, with the fifteen Oscar awards he won for "Zoolander."
@@wzpu3283 zoolander is overrated but Stiller is consistently 10 yrs ahead of his time
I love Bob in everything he's done, but two of my favorites are his brief roles on Arrested Development as Tobias and Lindsey's marriage counselor, LOL, and even more hilarious than that was when he played Pam's new boss on The Office! OMG, I wanted a spin-off series of that character so bad! Lmao!
Wait, there was a Ben Stiller show? The things that I've missed in Australia with only (by choice) free-to-air TV.

Not sure why Conan refuses to acknowledge his Vaudeville days. I was just a tot then, but my family did go to the old fairgrounds every summer, and I remember seeing Coco doing standup next to the "Guess Your Weight" man.
I wonder when he made the transition from the gallows, I never did complete my set of tin types that explained his origin from the shoeshine giveaways

Random thought - with his face and voice intonation he would have made a great actor for Steve Jobs
Nah he'd need to be much more frail & have that stupid vapid look behind his eyes that say "I continue to consume a diet that more than likely contributed to my cancer in an attempt to cure my cancer despite every medical doctor's advice while simultaneously creating and proffitng off an industry of planned obsolescence that spawned the largest spike in slavery since the sail boat was invented."
