  • I get the feeling that Bob lives a lot of his life just seeing sketches in his mind, always writing on some level. Discovered him on Tim and Eric, had no idea about his career, guy is pretty prolific and talented to say the least.

  • I used to work at Deja Vu, a dance club in Columbia, Mo back when I was a student at U. of Missouri. There was a comedy club on the top floor, and we would have live stand up every week. I always looked forward to Odenkirk's gigs, he was head and shoulders above the average touring comedian. Just brilliant. So satisfying to watch him become the megastar he is today, he earned every bit of it.

    • I hate that the Deja Vu closed down. So many GREAT comedians came through there due to it being a major college town and located directly in the center of the Midwest. I met Chris Kattan there. That was huge for me. Also discovered Nick Tune there. Saw Ralphie May both times. Great club. Also loved that fucking Billy Zane grape drink and wish I had the recipe!

    • I don't want to be that "guy" and say "just keep watching it gets better", but it does pay off. Keep watching if you like, but in my opinion (as some random Jerk Off online); it gets much better. You're right, it's slow and boring at first. My cousin told me to watch it and I thought I was going to be a half ass lawyer show, but, I was wrong. You're halfway through, so if you're not sold on it right now; then it's just not your thing.

    • @Thegga Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two very different shows. Better Call Saul is an extremely great show but you have to be a person who likes story without action and unnecessary drama. The way it goes about the storytelling is more akin to something like There Will Be Blood or Licorice Pizza I think if you like or hate Better Call Saul will depend on your tastes and if you like shows that are faster tempo or like slower tempo shows more that have a different and unique storytelling approach (non-verbal shots that tell story, shots that seem insignificant or irrelevant but are actually telling important character development but you will realise it later) It's basically like a puzzle that is being built before your eyes and by the end you see the entire puzzle for the first time. That's the best metaphor I can come up with

  • Mr. Show really is one of the greatest comedy shows of all time. It mixed stage comedy with pre-recorded stuff. And they seamlessly flowed together in front of a live audience. It was amazing. David Cross too. WATCH IT.

    • I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Odenkirk at around this time at a reception after the Clash of the Titans benefit back in November of 2002. The bill was KITH, Janeane Garofalo, Robert Sigel (Triumph) and Mr. Show, and I met them all. Bob, Robert, Janeane, Mr. and Mrs Kenney, Scott Thompson, and John Ennis were especially kind. If I got Brain Candy side effects, I'd want to be frozen in that time.

  • That was refreshing. I could've watched more of them interacting. Maybe they'll come up with a sitcom show, as co-workers, even as actors dealing with stale writers on a sitcom. Anything involving them both & bring in all their friends over time. So enjoy these guys. Didn't know they'd worked together on SNL. Love Mr Show. Haven't thought of them in many years. Now I want to watch them all. Such a good palate cleanser after all the politics I've ingested over the past several years. They really compliment each other's styles.

  • Idk if it was Bob or Bill, but some time around 1990-ish, I saw one of them on some televised late night stand-up comedy show. (The Laugh Factory maybe?) Anyway, I NEVER forgot the name Odenkirk after his performance. Wish I could find it on youtube. The ENTIRE show was literally just him introducing himself and saying "Odenkirk" repeatedly, and he managed to make it HILARIOUS! It was one of the most memorable stand up shows I've ever seen. He said "you won't forget the name Odenkirk" and he was correct. Talk about getting your name out there!
