Just adding my 2 cents as a New Yorker battling rats in my garden, under my cars and occasionally in my basement. Those green block bait stations have been of extremely limited use to me. But the RatX product has always worked well. If I bait with that product, I see results in a couple of days. My exterminator tries to disprove it, but his bait stations sit untouched. My city rats will also dig or chew through drywall, canned spray foam, insulation and window screening. Often solutions include cement with broken glass mixed into it. It cuts their mouths. I've also flooded their dens. (My garden hose ran at full blast for nearly 4 hours.) I will try your corn bread mix and baking soda solution next. If it works well I'll pass it along to neighbors as well as some NYC inspectors I know. It's got to be cheaper than pumping CO² into the holes!

Thank you for being so detailed I appreciate your videos very much. My war is on I have a rat or rats up in our attic can't hear anything but the turds are there!! We have chickens and that's been a challenge around them we've seen a big rat climbing up a damm tree 😲 I think the plastic container with the end cut out is great so my chickens can't get to it and it will stay dry. I'll use the corn bread mix and baking soda. I also have problems with Voles, Chippies & Squirrels in my Garden I can't even get any tomatoes from my plants their being consumed the seeds and skins left on the soil under the plants if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it. I do have 2 small animal traps I just bought.

My mom has big rats in her house but she has a cat and 2 small dogs will it harm them if they get into it and she has roaches really bad, so bad they are in her stove!!
All the evidence points to it as working. Costs very little to try and results should be noticed within hours or a few days if the infestations are bad. If the roaches feed from the same source as the the rats /mice .. their presence will also diminish although no saying how long it will take to notice. Baking soda and sugar help combat ant infestations too. Doesn't hurt to try

I mix the Jiffy cornmeal mix, baking soda, and powdered sugar.. They've been under my kitchen cabinet. There's a hole in the floor up under there I can't get to, but I'm not hearing them as often now, so i've no doubt dispatched several by now.

Thanks for your advice Jerry. 😊I live in Denmark in the countryside and get mice in the house every winter when it starts to get cold outside. My house is partially half-timbered and brick and it is next to impossible to secure it against mice. The house is from 1873 and in good condition because it is not as insulated as modern houses, because it would not be able to withstand that. It pulls in a little here and there when the wind really picks up, but you learn to live with that, because the wind keeps the woodwork dry and healthy. On the other hand, it is difficult to accept the mice that run around on the peaked ceiling and down in the kitchen, where they hide behind refrigerators and stoves. My little Czech rat dog gets completely hysterical with frustration at not being able to catch them from where they are hiding, and it is a bit of a strain on my relationship with the little dog. Therefore, I will try your advice and if it works as I hope, I will let you know! 👌👌

If there is a new food source available, the older rats will not touch it. They send the young ones out to eat it and if they die (young ones) within minutes or hours the older rats will not eat the new food. We do not want the concoction or any type of poison to kill the rats immediately. Even though rats are filthy, destructive, disease carrying rodents we must have patience to successfully eradicate them. It may take several weeks to totally exterminate all the rats on one’s property. Now mice on the other hand are not particularly intelligent. They will eat a new food source as they watch their buddies die next to them.

Wish I would have found this video while I was dealing with this mouse this week, but the Master Catcher Multi-Catch Trap ended up being the thing that caught that dastardly mouse when nothing else worked. I only saw the one, so if I end up seeing another I'll definitely use the Baking Soda + Corn Muffin Mix.

We have a small baby rat in our homestead. It has evaded everything we’ve done. Snap traps, poison, those dumb plug ins, I tried the baking soda and sugar. Still tormenting my house. I will try this baking soda and corn meal

I am trying the Cornmeal and Baking Soda this week. One I saw ants get in. The others I haven't seen a rat and the babies eat it at all. I have seen one little rat escaping the regular small rat metal cage, going in and out when it wants too eating bread like crazy. I guess it doesn't weigh enough to throw the trap. Two birds and squirrel have been caught which we let out. Trying your way for a month.
I have 16 free range chickens and wild rabbits that eat together. They use teamwork to keep an eye on predators. I think the cornbread and baking soda would be best for my application.
I actually had a wonderful conversation with the Owner, CEO and President of Jiffy Mix this afternoon. Really nice and kind guy. Yes it also works at getting rid of Voles, food moths, Roaches and Roaches. The Jiffy mix does not kill. It's the baking soda that does them in.
Too much food on the ramp 😂 I think their full before they get to the can. Also, ramps not needed. Can't wait to try these tricks, ty.

Chinchillas can't burp or fart either :P Snapper traps are my fave item in the arsenal, but have been thinking of making a poison for mice as well. I don't want to harm any other animals that might end up eating them though. The baking soda a attractant should do the trick! Thank you!

With the snapper traps my mice would scoot them to where the cat or dogs could paw at the trap. Got one of my pups. Not happy day. I'll use this. I plugged up their holes with great stuff though.

On your seven gallon bucket system, I think you gave them too much "bait" on the ramp. They are going to get full before they make it to the can. lol
I have a show I'm producing which I place three trail cameras capturing video of rats, mice and squirrels cleaning the peanutbutter off the can and doing balancing acts to keep from falling in. Epic film. Now I know why my pail is a fail. The rodents here on my farm are just way too wise.

My you tube bucket works very well on mice peanut butter exactly the way you did ex eat no seeds and way less peanut butter. A few dobbs is all that’s Necessary. Also I cut a hole down lower on the bucket just big enough for a 2” x 3/4 board plus about a 1-1/2 in height for them to get through. This makes for less incline. I’ve caught up to 5 a night in my shop work area. Pour out and set again. Easy it’s currently at my neighbors house workin on them there. I need to make a few more. Good luck.

I've tried the bucket pop can trap a few times with no luck. Poisons are not created equal; the poisons available to consumers are weak and ineffective. The poisons that the pest control people use is much stronger and will kill the rodent with one feeding. I've been experimenting with this baking soda concoction, but I just don't have many if any mice around here anymore. Great video by the way.

As soon as they eat it they begin to feel uncomfortable and usually return to the nest because it's their safe place. They will die within the day. If you don't notice a change it simply means you are dealing with a colony of rats. Soon, one-by-one they will find it, eat it and die. It took me three weeks to rid them rascals from my tractor barn and a week and a half to get rid of them in the attic of the rabbit shed. If they begin stinking, that odor only haunts for around ten days. Sounds like you just have a infestation more than one mice.
Little Giant trap at 05:09 catches rabbits going after the rat bait. Now rats wont go inside after all the rabbit catch and release excitement going on.

I feel much better trying your natural receipe over poisons outside that might harm other critters...... What if there is mice in the house? Do you put this mixture in the house, attic, and basement? Found mouse droppings in the basement & ranch house main floor. I'm afraid to even look in the attic.
Try it. I placed some under my house and plugged the gaps that they were getting in. Also placed it in my barn and shed. Today I'm placing some more in the garden. Good luck.

Just an fyi.....The cats brought in fleas to the house. I set off a bunch of flea killer foggers (which are good for other bugs, spiders, those horrible jumping camel crickets, etc. too ) - more than the recommended amount for a 2600 ranch sq. ft. house. Place a few in the basement, too, just to be sure I covered all of my bases)....Well, in the next week, I found 3 dead mice. I was horrified but pleasantly surprised at the same time. I know for sure these mice were not cat prizes that were brought in the house. Was pleased to see the flea foggers gassed those mice! ...Certainly wouldn't consider this as a first choice in eliminating mice inside a house & I'm not thrilled with using chemicals around my pets but with fleas, you have no really have no choice. I've tried all the home remedy flea remedies which minimally help. Fleas can be tough to get rid of!
I use it all the time. Refreshing the bait once a month. No more rats. Hey, it also kills mice, roaches, ants and food moths.

@@emresoylu9661 I mean it worked as in the mice ate it, but I didn’t find any dead ones. I found the Victor Quick Kill mouse traps worked well, caught total of 4 over 2 months. I used peanut butter and trail mix as bait. Also used a combination of small and large bait stations

I put Pepsi caps with water by the little containers of plaster Paris and other mixes I have around. Just started getting them last year. Got them gone and then we start seeing them again when it started getting cold out. I think we found wjere they were getting in at fingers crossed

Thanks for the video. Do you think this works on squirrels? They're too smart for the snap traps. When I've tried to catch them with those, all I find is the activated trap without the bait. Since squirrels are rodents, I was wondering if it works on them too.

Put your aluminum can farther down in your bucket. That will force them to want to get on the can and then it will roll. Dropping them into the bucket. I believe your kin is too close to the top of the bucket. If you would touch base and let me know how it worked out!

The bad thing that if they are already in side.under your floors in between your walls that's bad! Because they'll or may die in there wherever they maybe! Then you'll end up having another problem on having someone to search and take them.out!!! Before they start smelling up your surroundings yuck!!!!

Keep all your windows open in the meantime, just be sure you have good screens! Or I guess you could turn on your AC & Exhaust fans, then go on vacation awhile. If you can’t get the time off work, you could camp at a nearby state park while your house stink is clearing out. If you use enough of this mixture, you should only need to clear out one time!

Move the ramp to the 90 Degrees left or right from where you have it.also so it extends over top the roller. and high enough so they have to jump on to the roller. IT works for me. maybe the mice are smarter there!

The water bucket works. Only put 10 inches of water in it. I have caught 2 at a time!

@@pinemeadowshobbyfarmafruga8319 If you're in a "wet" environment, it probably won't work for you. Here in mega dry AZ, I just fill a 5 gallon bucket 1/3 to 1/2 full and they jump right in. No ramp, spinning can, or bait needed. I've had many jump in a bucket overnight. :D

Yup, you can do that. I also mentioned how dangerous they are to humans, the recipe and show the outcome in my other shows I produced on the Subject as well as an explanation. It's all about the digestive system and the complexity of it. Rodents having a longer digestive tract than other critters are subjected to a rapid buildup of gas from the baking soda having the reaction with the stomach acid. Rodents cannot burp or throw up, but they do eventually fart. You have a trail cam correct? You have traps correct? Easy peasy proof of what you're saying is catch a mouse or rat, leave a trail cam on it the entire time, wait 24-48 hours so we know you didn't poison them first, put your concoction in there after the 24-48 hours and make sure you leave the camera rolling the entire time over the 3-4days until it dies. Put up one UNINTERRUPTED video speed up for the ones who can't watch the 3-4 day long video but also put up the original video in regular speed so we can keep coming back to it until we're able to finish it.

This method works but it is cruel and inhumane. After ingesting the baking soda, the rat will have severe pain. This pain will continue until death which can take days or weeks to occur. I'd rather use an alternate quick method or humane trapping.
It's better for me this way I get rid of the disease spreading rascals. They spread things like the plague. ARGH. They destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of items in my storage shed (TWO LOADS TO THE DUMP) not to mention the chewed everything soft in the engine compartment of a car totaling it. No sympathy from this dude. None.
