  • If I sound a little weird it's because this video is originally from 2017! It was blocked worldwide, so we re-edited and here it is! Also, for those that guessed Knives Out was this week, you were right. "Stuff" came up and the video got a little bigger, so that will be next week!

    • Same, these movies are the "turn of your brain and enjoy what you see" types of movies, and the stories actually do make some semblance of sense if you don't think about it too much...unless you're The Last Knight, you can turn your brain off and it's still boring as fuck, mostly because there's barely anything to enjoy, the movie is like 2/3 senseless talking, and makes so little sense that you can't not pay attention to it. At least the previous 4 had stories that actually made some sort of sense but the 5th movie is just...something, clearly, just not the good kind of "something"

The CGI mixed with practical effects is STUNNING, the score STUNNING and the SOUND DESIGN THE GOD DAMN SOUND DESIGN MUAH. I'll say it-Transformers really revitalized the action genre. For those that might have forgotten Hollywood was just DEAD in the mid 2000s thanks to the Recession (as well as other huge events) back in the day-Transformers came along and changed EVERYTHING and in the following year we had not only Iron Man but Dark Knight too? Boom boom boom we are not pirates and Hollywood would never be the same again. Also I ate the WHOLE plate. The WHOLE plate is just iconic lol.

Not to mention all the CGI, compositing, rendering, editing, reshoots. Again, I like the sentiment but I don't think Transformers revitalized the action genre. At the very least it was at the forefront of the Action Renaissance.

And suddenly action was cool again. Fantasy had its moment after 9/11 and was still around thanks to Harry Potter but other than that it mostly died off. And then there was just nothing. Transformers coming around really helped move things along in the right direction for action-it was fun, big BOMBASTIC MR FANTASTIC it was fun, entertaining turn your brain off, make you think about life....and then in 2009 and 2010 animation even got into action a bit and took off it was so good. • Little kid me loved every single second of the movie, man. I think I was 5 when I first watched this? Now that I'm older and more jaded, the film's plot is mediocre at the best of times, the dialog can be stilted, some of the jokes don't land or haven't aged very well, and it leans a bit hard on Megan Fox's sex appeal sometimes, especially in future films. But I'll be damned if it isn't a spectacle from start to finish. The models and animation are fantastic, everything looks so hyper-real. Everything in the movie moves like it has real weight associated to it. The sound design, as pointed out in the video, is also incredible. Do I really care about the characters? Not really. In retrospect, the only reason why prime stood out to me so much (check the username) is because he had a badass sword and an awesome voice. But again, the visual feats the movie pulls off are absolutely incredible.

  • I loved seeing these movies as they came out while I was younger, and I think I enjoy them more now than I did when I was younger. The emotion, the action, it's this crazy movie that gets crazier the more that they continue (although I wasn't the biggest fan of Age of Extinction and haven't seen The Last Knight because of that, but still, the first three are amazing). Revenge of the Fallen moves from what was small battles in the first that climaxes to city street firefights, to big battles ending with the huge fight in Egypt that feels like a warzone! Even the world feels lived in as humans become more and more adept at taking out Decepticons. Dark of the Moon many of the Decepticons are killed by human special ops squads and it gives off this immense feeling of growth from "super heated weapons burn through the metal let's use that for everything", to "Snipers take out the eyes from a distance while a ground team destroys their legs and we execute them before they have the chance to react". They know that they're bigger, stronger, and more advanced, and like humans they adapt, use their heads, and beat the big baddies, and the fact that it took THREE MOVIES to get to that point feels just right. Again this universe feels lived in and I really do enjoy them. I hope that he makes a "Everything GREAT about Transformers Revenge of The Fallen" I'd love to hear his input on how that movie did with Sam's insanity that he shared with his great grandfather (or however many greats it was), the pacing of it, the backstory of The Fallen and The Primes, and so much more that I know he'd have a lot to say about.

However there is only so much missing lore I can take before I'm ready to pull my gun. Like for instance, what happened to Sam after "Dark side of the moon"? Where did Leo go after Revenge of the Fallen? Why is there NO mention of what happened of ANY of these characters? I mean, Sam.. the teenage boy who saved the world 3 fucking times alongside Optimus and the Autobots and what.. not even a SINGLE reference to him or what he did.. The first three films were okay, decent action, a cohesive story, and you feel like it is a whole process of "they won the battle but not the war". Age of Extinction and Last Night however are pretty terrible. The only good thing about age of extinction was we finally got to see the Dinobots in live action. Last Knight was even worse due it trying to suddenly add in lore to the films and also trying to put the idea in that Bumblebee was around during world war 2

  • Great video. Also, here is an additional win: There is a scene in the final battle where Megan Fox's character realises that Sam may not survive the battle, so she stops the car...and breaks down. Transformers is a franchise where one of its core themes is the devastating effects of war and in this scene we saw an example of just that. People go into battle and those who care about them live in agony if they'll make it out alive. Transformers 2007 is a movie that is mostly just loud dump fun, but this scene is quite, subtle and powerful and it proves that Micheal Bay, despite the flaws of his writing and directing, actually has capabilities and potential as a director and writer.

  • How could we forget to skip the voice of Prime? Peter Cullen’s preforming that captivating voice always kept the attention no matter which of the five or six movies that came out. And Bay respects that man’s voice enough to downplay the music and noise in the background to pull the audience away from the fighting and currents moments and ground you in the now.

    • I gotta agree, I enjoyed this movie just like the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maybe the 5th? But regardless, I thought it was always epic and awesome with the fights scene and music and the quotes. I would usually sometime RP scene and do stupid or cringe stuff. But thats what makes me a kid. Looking back it it, I don't really care if some of the plots were bad. I only enjoyed the action pack and cinematography.

Obviously it's not a Hollywood masterpiece, but I loved Anthony Hopkins in that movie, the new characters were fun, Josh Duhamel came back, Steve Jablonsky composed a banger soundtrack, and the visuals were awesome imo. The scenery in England, and the way they did Cybertron, was really great. The behind the scenes also made me appreciate the movie more than I originally did.
