We reached the end. The end of Bayformers. There is a reason why this was the last one.
Transformers: The Last Knight was meant to jumpstart a new universe, and instead it crashed and burned. It is truly a baffling experience.

One team wanted a cool Suicide Squad-style montage introducing the bad guys, the team for the next scene wanted the bad guys to get instantly curbstomped by the heroes. One wanted a ton of exposition, one wanted a humanoid robot voiced by the Downton Abbey butler, one wanted a scene with Evil Optimus.

Already questioning the choices), Inglorious Basterds.... and for whatever reason (the video didn't have any commentary or anything), the scene of Megatron listing off his "crew". That inclusion was so freakin' jarring and hilarious.

    • That's only in the IMAX 3D versions of Age of Extinction (and Revenge of the Fallen to be fair). And it only switches between IMAX and Panavision the same as The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises on blu-ray or 4K. I have Age of Extinction on 4K and there's no switching. The Last Knight switches between three non IMAX ratios and it does it no matter how you watch it. At least it made sense how it was employed on Age of Extinction. I think Michael Bay was on crack when he made The Last Knight (for many reasons) because the ratio switching is completely random in it. It's insanity..

Like how the bumblebee movie really focued on the human and bee bonding, and I got some Michaela vibes off of Charlie (young mechanic with parental issues) while her useless sidekick is a guy with a hopeless crush on her and they make a point of them not getting together at the end. (Edit) also the military is Not in on the Big Secret before everyone else and fucks up in a way that isnt simultaneously glorified. Rise of beast felt like an attempt at mixing the brutal and agressive Optimus with the classical type. Mirage bonded with a down on his luck guy having a hard time finding a job, he doesnt date the girl, the thing you mentioned about the robots not actually being behind human ingenuity... Its not a one on one, it feels like theyre trying to be their own thing, but it got little things that I feel like are meant to be a "we've improved" thing. Hopefully they dont go fully up their ass with self criticism/past shame. Though the Gi Joe teaser... I actually laughed in disbelief and then sighed in disappointed. Oh well. Have them be hunting the main cast throughout the movie. 2: Instead of making up a bunch of new Decepticons, why not make them the Combaticons? Onslaught is there, just add the rest. You can even have them combine into Bruticus for the final fight.

  • The whole bit about the Autobots being in the American Revolution helping out General George Washington is very batty. Was Bumblebee on the ship in the Boston Harbor, helping dump British tea during the Boston Tea Party? Was Ironhide riding with Paul Revere and William Dawes, warning about the Redcoats coming to Lexington and Concord? I actually would have been willing to watch a Transformers movie about that to see how that would have worked. I now all of sudden want to transport to an alternate universe where The Last Knight inexplicably became a billion dollar hit and we got that Bayformers Cinematic Universe just to see how nuts it would have gotten.

  • Sam dying off screen was one thing (a bad thing) but having Lennox switching sides to hunt down the Autobots when he was a professional soldier who fought against the Decepticons alongside the Autobots and had Ironhide lived with his family at some point was just a a kick in the balls.

And before anyone goes "Some people like watching movies that are so bad, they're good," no. She doesn't acknowledge that they're bad. She genuinely thinks they're good movies, even when they're horrible. I watch movie reviews all the time, including of ones her and I watch, and she gawks and squawks whenever I watch one that criticizes one of the awful ones. • What pisses me off about that scene is how poorly edited it is. There was a low angle shot behind Cade with a good angle on him as well as the transformer knight swinging the sword. Yet, for some inexplicable reason it was cut in the middle by another angle of just Cade swinging the sword, all that did was break the moment. This was supposed to be Cade coming out as the Last Knight (lol) yet all I think is how poor the editing is.
