  • What did you think of Loki Season 2?? Is Loki the saving grace of a failing MCU? Comment below! 💥

    • It’s been the most engaged I’ve been in an MCU project since Guardians. It’s really reignited my appreciation for Loki as a character and it makes me excited to potentially see more of him in the future.

    • I mean there was guardians which was great as well and Marvel's was meant to be a goofy fun film which it was. I'd say that it is starting to find its rhythm again as the percentage of decent to great content has increased. They lost a lot of people's trust so of course people are not willing to believe that they are improving but I feel like we are getting out of the slump. We will see when the next marvel stuff comes out and while I don't expect anything too astounding I think it will be enjoyable for most families.

  • I know visuals aren’t everything, but in an era where MCU projects are stylistically bland with middling CGI, I love how beautifully cinematic Loki is. Fantastic use of colors, great camera work, unique aesthetic, impressive set design, and finished CGI do so much to enhance an already great story.

    • I love everything about the visuals of this show. The way they did the closeups of Mobius' and Loki's faces during their last conversation in S2E6, it just felt right. It shows that the general aesthetic vision was good, and not just the quality of the GCI.

  • Just to add in, I feel like Natalie Holt deserves ALL the praise for her phenomenal soundtrack. Absolutely amazing work, especially how she blended the synth and orchestral elements to create really unique soundscapes. And she sold the fuck out of the emotions, which was crucial in a series that risked losing the audience by being too cerebral and esoteric. (As an aside, if Disney ever does that long-rumored Tron 3, I'd totally want to see her score it.)

  • I think its very telling that two of the most successful Post-Endgame MCU projects, GotG Volume 3 and Loki, both feel super diffrent compared to the rest of the boring, predictable, tropey movies and series that have been rolling out of Marvel Studios the last few years. You hit the nail on the head when you said that the old movies all had their own distinct style and as a result they all felt unique. I think Disney Corporate basically created a MCU 'mold' that takes successful aspects from all previous movies, combines them together and now they try to fit every unique story into that generic mold. Nothing feels special anymore because the basic plot of all these projects are structured exactly the same, which is why stuff like Loki and Guardians, that shatter that mold, feel like the old MCU. Absolutely loved this series and hopefully Marvel will realize stuff like this is what we all want

Second season is like the Endgame of D+ shows and further pushed the narrative of the overall MCU of which none of other shows or movies can (because they're busy with mindless cgi fights, crazy but unnecessary cameos, half cooked plots, sticking with the old formula when they literally called themselves out in She-Hulk, etc...). What a good story can be when you focus on the individual characters journey, and forget about everything else that really isn’t so important maybe they’ll become important one day but it’s just enough to be good and how it really is just a simple as that I don’t know why this is so hard for the rest of the MCU to understand

She is a very selfish character, which I don't actually have a problem with, but then she proceeds to have no growth while still trying to be an authority in the different moral debates that you mentioned. Whatever happens next is up to your imagination, it’s a multiverse now and anything can happen. Its an open ending to a franchise that kind of can’t close in its perpetual state of bigger villains and hero’s battling it out, it leaves the opportunity for more but also the closure it needs for if there is no more to come. And it all ended beautifully as the finale of one the MCUs most beloved characters

  • While it was a powerful end, keep in mind that this is still an ouroboros. He Who Remains did not try to stop Loki from doing it different.. because he will be coming back to depose Loki. Renslayer was a pivotal partner for He Who Remains. We saw her be sent to the void at the end of time. And the Kang that got sucked into his multiversal core most likely will end up in the same void to team up with Renslayer and tame Alioth again. It's basically leading to the upcoming Avengers films, but the inkling is that something will change this time and Loki will have help. The latter part is speculative, but the first seems to be set in stone that it is still basically a contingency for He Who Remains, just like the Loom was.

The continuous time slip of trying to make things right is an example of our constant rebirth and the cycle breaks when he realizes there is no end. He only realizes he can control both actions and taughts in the present not rewrite the past or move forward into the future he realizes his action now is his choice.and to attain peace of self and love is to perform Selfless deeds . His action is his free will and he chose to make the biggest sacrifice, sacrifice self without expectations..Loki excepting his faith by selfless actions. leads to peace and love in his heart ( Content) this transformation is as some call Awaken! Realization of a greater power within !!!

  • 21:04, It would seem as though some of this could be the case, as the series seems to suggest the Quantum Realm adjacent the Avengers universe has several similar versions of that dimension that are adjacent to other universes and timelines (as if every universe or timeline also contains their own versions of the kind of alien dimensions seen in the Avengers universe’s continuity such as the Mirror or Dark Dimensions, or are completely absent of these dimensions and have completely different ones). This would be one such way to make the different realities out their distinct from the Avengers universe, even if certain rules regarding the multiverse and timelines remain the same.

  • Season 2 felt very disorganized to me. Overall, it was pretty good, but I wish its story elements were more cohesive. The problem, in short, is that there's really two stories being told in season 2, and then a lot of fluff that didn't need to be included. The first story ran from episode 1 through most of episode 4, which can be summarized as "how do we prevent the loom from being destroyed?" We have Loki and Mobius running around, trying to find a way to fix it, with Renslayer and Ms. Minutes acting as the antagonists and causing issues. Everything leads up to a final confrontation in episode 4 where, well, both Ms. Minutes and Renslayer were disposed of relatively easily, and then the last bit of the episode was them trying to fix the loom now that they were free to do so without having to worry about interference from the antagonists. The funny thing is - both our heros and the antagonists wanted the same thing - to fix the Loom. The antagonists were evil, sure, but still, if Loki had let them just fix it without interfering, perhaps it would have been fixed sooner (well, except for the fact that it turns out you can't really fix the loom as we learn later). We were told that if the antagonists succeeded, that that would have been a stepping stone for them in taking back control of the TVA, but we weren't really given an explanation of why that would be the case. The last bit of episode 4 where they were trying to fix the loom but it blows up in their face is where our second story starts. The second story can be summarized as "the loom is dead, now what?" After we've set the scene, we go into episode 5, which was mostly Loki dabbling in the past and showing us the background for various different characters. Yes, some important stuff did happen in this episode - mostly the fact that Loki was learning to control his powers, but most of the episode felt like the creators were using Loki's time slipping as an excuse to try and dump a bunch of semi-interesting backstory elements on us that, while amusing, aren't details that were all that essential for the overall story. I think the series would have been stronger if this episode just got dropped and replaced with something that was more important to the story being told. The idea that Loki was learning to control his time slipping could have been conveyed in five minutes or less, it didn't need this whole episode. And can I also briefly mention how annoying the whole timeslipping thing was as well? It suddenly started happening to Loki for some reason that was never explained to us, which caused him to travel to the past or future but in the same point in space. Then they cured Loki. Then he started doing it again despite having been "cured", but this time he could only travel to points in time he's already experienced, but not into his own body. There's just no consistency in how this thing works. Honestly, if they had just dropped timeslipping from the first episode, things would have made a lot more sense. In fact, they probably could have dropped the first episode entirely, moving the more essential bits of it into other episodes. Anyways, I digress. After episode 5 we get to the season finale, which was an awesome finale, but it wasn't really a finale for the whole season, it was really just a finale for this second story line that started in the last part of episode 4. To try and tie this all together: A good story should have an overall arch, and everything within the story should have strong ties to that arch in one way or another (or maybe I would be ok with two story archs as long as both archs are good, strong archs). Loki season 2 gave us episodes 1 and 5 which were mostly fluff and didn't contain much content that were very important to the overall story arch(s), and episodes 2 through 4 contained an interesting story with a very weak conclusion. And then we have the end of episode 4 and the finale which was the highlight of the show. Overall, a pretty good season, but it could have been better if the content was better tied together.

  • Implying the universe will somehow punish a protagonist with failure unless he is 100% absolutely saintly selfless is deeply troubling. (And the question can you even _be_ perfectly selfless, as someone can always redefine your best intentions as "selfish" if they twist the rhetoric long enough[1].) Because it implies that to be accepted as a hero you must be held to unrealistic standards of "selflessness". Worse, this is commonly _only_ applied to former villains who try to redeem themselves! It's rarely applied to characters who were already labeled as "hero" when the story started; _they_ can commit questionable acts because they're labeled the "hero" and thus all their actions are by default defined as "good". [1] Take the typical D&D paladin for example, selfless, upright, lawful good, willing to become a martyr to the cause to protect.... but paladins _know_ their soul will go to Heaven and be with their deity when they die. Similarly, in real life many believers seem to do "good deeds" (whatever their religion defines as such) to collect points for the afterlife.

  • I can understand why this finale wasn’t for everyone, it’s hard when we see these characters that we’ve come to love not get their happy endings. When it comes to Loki, I feel as a group we’re pretty used to Loki not getting a satisfying ending. As a character he has gotten tortured over and over, sometimes at his own hands. However, the lack of a happy ending can still feel like a gut punch. For me, not only did it work, but it made sense. This is not the end of the story for these characters. I fully believe that Marvel Studios will be bringing them back down the road, at least for Secret Wars. There is plenty of time to see them grow and breathe, and get those happy endings. However, on the flip side, not every ending in life is happy and that’s a fact that we have to come to terms with. I think Loki’s second season was the perfect swan song for this chapter in Loki’s life and I’m beyond excited to see what comes next.
