That said, RT has consistently shown he cannot play rhythm games. From Punch Out which practically is one to Rhythm Heaven. There's some learning sure but when he seems to struggle with timing simple things there really are some concerns about why he can't do some of those.

  • Unless you've got the actual drum controller for _Taiko no Tatsujin,_ you're really better off using a standard controller rather than motion controls -- it's no guarantee you won't still suck, of course, but it's more precise than Dan's patented 'Flail-'n-Fail' technique.

    • @@gregoryford2532 As has been established, Dan has absolutely no sense of rhythm -- his reaction time for rhythm games always seems to be about a quarter-second slow, an eighth at best.

      @Nitrinoxus@Nitrinoxus3 жыл бұрын
    • @@gregoryford2532 My experience with motion controls tends to go the other direction: because the required actions are necessarily looser, the game won't necessarily register your input as the correct one. With a standard controller, at least each action is mapped to specific buttons, so the input's predictable -- and with the drum controller, you've got a tangible object that correlates directly to what you're trying to do in the game. I suspect Dan had better success with the motion controls because the looseness of the correlation between input and outcome registered at least some of his frantic flailing as the correct drumbeats. Precision in rhythm games is crucial for success, but it's an area he consistently struggles with, due to the aforementioned delay in his reaction time -- if he wants to pass any of these levels, he needs to find the spot on the board where his reaction time lines up with the correct timing and keep his focus trained slightly ahead of there, so he can identify and react to each beat in time.

      @Nitrinoxus@Nitrinoxus3 жыл бұрын

Motion control has come a long way, but it's nowhere near precise enough for a game like this. Plus, Taiko's a game you really need a peripheral for, otherwise I can't imagine it'd feel right.
