  • Its crazy because Yan can actually grapple and we've seen that with how he was man handling Sterling in their first fight and was defending choke after choke on his back for 2 rounds in this fight to defending over 40 takedowns from Merab in one of his next fights. Really hope to see Yan bounce back cause this man is actually an animal inside that cage

Yan controlled the center of the ring the entire round, Aljo was on his heels scrambling around the edge in order to avoid engaging. Yan didn’t “dominate” the round or anything but he clearly won it. Yan won the fight winning 2 out of 3 rounds: (1)10/9, (2)9/10, (3)9/10, (4)10/9, (5)10/9

    • @@LiveFreeOrDie2AOctagon control and aggression are only taken into account if damage, effective striking/effective grappling are considered to be too even to lean to one side Aljo outstruck Yan, plain and simple. For the first half of round 1, Yan threw no strikes and was ‘aggressive’, walking Aljo down and controlling the Octagon….. while getting hit with strikes with no retaliation. It was during the second half of round 1 that Yan started striking back, but by then he didn’t have enough sig strikes or enough damaging strikes to make up the difference

  • As much as everyone loves to shit on aljo for taking the DQ win, he made a super smart business move. As he got an immediate rematch in which he won and ppv points. Anthony smith should have done the same thing he would have made millions on a rematch against Jon jones and who knows he could potentially beat him and if not who cares. Plus jones already has one bullshit loss on his record his legacy wouldn’t be affected by another.

    • @@Brizzy-Devil-Down-UnderJust cuz it’s a SD doesn’t mean it’s not convincing. Look at Aljo vs Cejudo. Watching it live everyone in the area I was watching it in scored it 4-1 Aljo. It was a pretty clear victor either way Look at Sandhagen vs Chito. Sandhagen demolished Chito and yet it was a SD. For the Yan 2 fight, Aljo out struck Yan in R1, arguably 10-8’d him in R2 with submission attempts and heavy ground and pound Yan couldn’t defend all that well, clearly won R3, and then lost 4 and 5. Clearly winning 3 rounds and also having the most dominant round of the fight is pretty convincing. Round 1 only seems close life but when you check the stats there’s not really any way to give it to Yan. Got hit more, landed less and neither wobbled, dropped or cut the other to win on damage. So it goes to who outstruck who

  • Just saying, I’ve never, not even once heard anyone say they’re a fan of Aljamain Sterling lol.. I really don’t like the guy but I also feel bad for the guy at the same time and don’t think he’s a bad guy lol. I’m just being brutally honest here when I say Sterling is pretty much just stalling the division bc he’s so boring and literally every single title fight win he has, has an asterics beside it bc there’s almost always something controversial in every title fight Sterling is in. I feel like this is why not many like Sterling just as a fighter in the ufc. I hope Henry Cejudo beats him bc honestly that would make the division so much more exiting than it is right now.

    • This fight was a robbery. Aljo “won” by split decision because 2/3 judges scored the first round 10-9 in his favor. HOW?!? Yan controlled the center of the ring the entire round, Aljo was on his heels scrambling around the edge in order to avoid engaging. Yan didn’t “dominate” the round or anything but he clearly won it. Yan won the fight winning 2 out of 3 rounds: (1)10/9, (2)9/10, (3)9/10, (4)10/9, (5)10/9
