Easily one of the greatest one round fights of all time with stakes and pressure weighted on a fighter more than I can remember in recent history. For Charles to go out there with everything on the line after everything that had been taken from him not even 24 hours before hand to then make someone, who had been questioning his heart for months, to submit him in their fight better than anyone had before was truly remarkable. Truly a poetic fight

@@dylantaft1867 because there's a lot of fighters who also missed weight in the same card and all of them said they weighed in exactly for the limit and all of them missed by either one pound or half a pound which is crazy. and Charles always weighs in exactly 155 I believe he never went down 154.5 since he stepped in the lightweight division. even Charles himself said he weighed in exactly 155 then he was confused when he announced his weight being overweight.

I can't see him beating Islam. The two of them are atleast two levels apart. The guy with the most submissions ever had the life squeezed out of him and he tapped super quick.....but....this is MMA and we all know that anything can happen. God bless 🙏🏼🏴👍🏼

@@bishyeahbish3758 I don't think so, personally. It was a quick, competitive but losing fight for Oliveira. Oliveira got foot swept in round 1 but also defended a foot sweep and a takedown in round 2, they both exchanged good knees in the clinch. Islam landed some good ground and pound but often missed while Oliveira was on the bottom but also worked on the triangle in round 1. Islam landed that great left hand in round 1 but Oliveira got the upkick in round 1 and good hammer/backfists from the bottom. The only area, bafflingly, that Islam generally outclassed him was striking, almost the entire time, although Oliveira did begin to land in the exchanges in round 2 but then got clipped. I think if he works on stuffing the takedowns (ala Volk) like he successfully did twice in round 2 instead of looking to go to the ground, and bull-rushes Islam like Volk did, with combos, instead of waiting at mid range, he can do it. Nothing about that fight other than some of the striking exchanges, the knockdown (Oliveira launched into a jump knee and wasn't even landed before getting clipped which meant his feet went out underneath him and he lost balance) and finish said Islam was better than Oliveira, let alone 2 levels above, which would be straight domination e.g. Max-Kattar or Conor-Alvarez.

14:17 one of the few staredowns I've seen Gaethje lose. There was something in Charles' eyes that must have made Gaethje unsettled. You can can see Gaethje get unsettled when Charles takes his shades off.

I think not. Oliveira isn't Ferguson who will keep march forward even he got stung badly by a punch. Oliveira will bide his time on either staying outside of the range and recognizing he got hit or will fake a knockdown to pull guard to recover momentarily. Gaethje's only chance to beat Oliveira is to follow Oliveira inside his guard and pound his face in, but that will never happen because the moment Oliveira locked him in his guard, one of Gaethje's limbs will get detached out of his body in an instant.

Oliveira got foot swept in round 1 but also defended a foot sweep and a takedown in round 2, they both exchanged good knees in the clinch. Islam landed some good ground and pound but often missed while Oliveira was on the bottom but also worked on the triangle in round 1. Islam landed that great left hand in round 1 but Oliveira got the upkick in round 1 and good hammer/backfists from the bottom. The only area, bafflingly, that Islam generally outclassed him was striking, almost the entire time, although Oliveira did begin to land in the exchanges in round 2 but then got clipped. I think if he works on stuffing the takedowns (ala Volk) like he successfully did twice in round 2 instead of looking to go to the ground, and bull-rushes Islam like Volk did, with combos, instead of waiting at mid range, he can do it. Nothing about that fight other than some of the striking exchanges, the knockdown (Oliveira launched into a jump knee and wasn't even landed before getting clipped which meant his feet went out underneath him and he lost balance) and finish said Islam was better than Oliveira, let alone 2 levels above, which would be straight domination e.g. Max-Kattar or Conor-Alvarez.
Oliveira will get the belt back. Volk whooped Islam's ass and there's no way Volk is that much better then Oliveira lol

Sorry, I'm a UFC casual. Charles weighed in at 155.5lbs and they said he missed weight. But I've seen so many fighters who weight in 0.5-1lbs above or below the required number and it being fine. Why is that?
Championship weight is different from normal weight because for non title bouts you can fight one pound above championship weight (156 vs 155 pounds)
It's ok in non-title fights . But when it's a championship match it has to be exact

I think not. Oliveira isn't Ferguson who will keep march forward even he got stung badly by a punch. Oliveira will bide his time on either staying outside of the range and recognizing he got hit or will fake a knockdown to pull guard to recover momentarily. Gaethje's only chance to beat Oliveira is to follow Oliveira inside his guard and pound his face in, but that will never happen because the moment Oliveira locked him in his guard, one of Gaethje's limbs will get detached out of his body in an instant.
Oliveira is a nightmare matchup for Gaethje. He has zero submission defense.
