Biden Can't Believe Trump Said No One’s Going to Touch Your Guns
Joe Biden, During an exclusive interview with Univision, stated that he would consider taking further executive action on guns and criticized 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump because Trump “famously told the NRA that, don’t worry, no one’s going to touch your guns” if Trump won.
Interviewer Enrique Acevedo asked, “[G]un violence remains the number one cause of death for children in America. Latinos have made it a top priority across the country, especially in places like El Paso and Uvalde in Texas. Your administration called on Congress to pass common-sense gun laws, but that’s unlikely to happen in the next few months. If you’re re-elected, would you consider taking further executive action on this issue?”
Biden responded, “Absolutely. Look, I, along with Dianne Feinstein, passed the first limitation on assault weapons and the number of bullets that could be in a rifle. The idea anybody needs 100 rounds in a rifle, in an AR-15, I was out in Uvalde. I met with every one of those families. I spent four hours with them. I looked at the pain in their faces. I saw what they felt. I could feel it. And the idea that - and his phrase [in] another context where there was a mass shooting, I think it was in El Paso, he said - they said, what to do about it, and he said, just get over it, you’ve got to get over it, the idea we don’t have background checks for anybody purchasing a weapon, the idea that we’re going to be in a position where he says that - he famously told the NRA that, don’t worry, no one’s going to touch your guns if I - from the very beginning, I used to teach the Second Amendment in law school, from the very beginning, there were limitations. You couldn’t own a cannon. You couldn’t - you could own a rifle or a gun, but there were certain things you couldn’t do. They weren’t weapons of war. And so, look, we passed the first major gun legislation in over 30 years when we passed the law that we recently passed that outlaws weapons that are made that you can’t trace and so on and so forth. And - but it’s not enough. I think we have to do more, and I am absolutely committed. And I’ve asked the Congress, and if I get a Congress and get re-elected, we’re going to do it again. We’re going to make sure we eliminate these weapons.”

The argument of “You don’t need it” puzzles me every time. This is America I don’t NEED anything I WANT it.
When they say that, they are effectively saying "you don't need your rights". The rights given to citizens are NOT there to make it easy on the government.
Don’t need more than one pair of shoes either. Don’t even need a house. Don’t need a car. Really, the only thing you “NEED” is food and water.
That “argument” isn’t an argument. They don’t get to make that decision on our behalf.

You can own a car even though you don’t need it, but you like having one. You like the comfort it brings, but it can also be a deadly weapon in the wrong hands. Same as a gun. “But a cars primary use isn’t to kill people!” Neither is a gun. It’s to hunt for food, sporting, AND protection. Thousands of rounds get fired every day without incident.

The US government used to sell cannons to citizens. The same US government literally sold surplus army rifles to its citizens, and even broke its own NFA in the process. Reminder: The rules on short barreled rifles being less than 16" in barrel length literally came about because the US government sold a bunch of carbines to the public that had barrel lengths of 16.5", and the law at the time had rifles requiring the same 18" barrel as shotguns. Instead of the US government acknowledging that their regulation was de facto purposeless, they changed the law to 16" before their new customers could sue them for selling them "contraband".

My aunt was one of those who believed there was no background check when buying a firearm. I told her there was and took to a FFL Dealer and told her to walk up to the clerk and ask to purchase a firearm. She did, the clerk wiped out form 4473 and she asked what it was clerk answered it's the criminal background check required to purchase a firearm. My aunt looked at me in complete shock. At that moment she realized democrats were lying to her

This has been said too many times, but to anyone under the impression that you can buy a gun (any gun) without passing a background check, take an hour out of your day, go down to your local armory, and try. At this point there is no excuse to be under this delusion. People are either lazy, stupid, lying, or a combination of all of the above. Hell,I don't even have anything on my record that would disqualify me from owning a firearm, and I was denied (pretty common I hear) and had to appeal.

The Second Amendment protects our right to bear arms, and excessive regulations infringe upon that right. Gun violence is a serious issue, but addressing it through measures that restrict law-abiding citizens' access to firearms isn't the solution.

When I got to my new home, one of the first things I brought up to my neighbors was that when election time comes, I want them to tell me how to vote because I moved here for a reason and I'd like to keep it how I found it. People are ignorant of the law because they're too ignorant to do their own research. They're afraid that what they've been told to believe might actually be a LIE.
The background check arguement is so stupid... I fail my initial background check everytime I have one, then the appeal is overturned in a week or so... The only people that believe there are no BG checks, are people that have never legally purchased a firearm 🙄
My man, the 2A ponts , views and comments your bring forth make sense and are spot on...having grown up and lived in AK , but now reside in CA, I've found these CA gun laws are just insanely ridiculous...your continued comments about it will hopefully awaken the majority of Californians who vote these people in office....keep doing what you do, your voice is being heard (at least by those of us who have sense). That's not true about the 'assault weapon ban' of '94. ALL my friends and I bought guns that we weren't previously planning on buying. just.in.case.
