    • @@lucalambo01it’s 690whp, so it has ~750 at the crank at best, it’s rwd plus it’s rear engined and doesn’t have a cardan shaft to have that much losses. The key to its speed is a very low curb weight

Go watch 720's launching on carwow etc where there is also an unprepared surface, they have to do all the work catching up AFTER the initial launch... I'm not saying anything about any other cars being able to be fast, just the 720 digging in like that was a surprise to see on a dusty, uneven air strip.

    • One of those cars is 15 years old lmao 😂. Nothing could launch2 like a GTR could back in 2007. It took McLaren, Lamborghini, Porsche ect... Multiple different chassis and models just to catch up. Weird flex to compare the two with almost 20 years between them let alone the price the weight the amount of seats front engine to mid engine like the list goes on

    • If you look at the RWD results table the 900bhp and 1000bhp McLaren's or only a small amount faster than the stock one. Which I thought was quite interesting. The 1000bhp one basically has around +50% power over stock but the times are only improving on the 1/4 by a couple of tenths. Interesting.

  • The 720 has been a marvel of engineering since the day it landed! 4 to beat two all-wheel drive cars off the line is stupendous never mind the fact it's damp out there..... Just crazy! And every race I see a 720s in it seems as though mclaren has them tuned almost like a boost by gear cuz the faster they go..... The faster they go as evidenced by how he started pulling on the GTR in the mid-range. Definitely one of the all-time greats!

  • I was rooting for the Bimmer from the beginning and is the car I would choose as my favorite out of that trio. The first few races were disappointing because I knew it should have done better, but it is what it is. The McLaren is no joke! It's amazing how well it hooked on damp pavement and out-dragged the two AWD cars, albeit one was kinda handicapped, though. These races were weird but very entertaining!

    • Races 3&4 the course is too wet and you hear the 720s sliding and wheel spinning in gears, although the M5 jumped in race 3. A mixture of poor conditions and jumping. It’s why the 720s was far faster 100-200 in 4.8s vs M5’s 5.6 which is a huge amount slower.

  • Haron must have set the record for the slowest acceleration of an F90 M5 ever filmed. I barely thought it was possible to double the 0-60 of a stock M5 and end up with a 13.09 1/4 mile but here we are. 😆 That said - awesome races, and the GTR engine compartment looks solid. All three cars sound vastly different but all amazing!

  • The LEAST predictable set of races ever. I'm still trying to get my head round all the different results. Usually you can tell who is going to win after the first race but not this time. Crazy good viewing. The M5 came back out of nowhere and was so good on the roll races. McLaren losing a few yards at the beginning of the roll races whilst struggle for traction. That was just quality.

    • The rain definitely started picking up during the roll races. If you watch again, you can hear the Mac’s traction control cutting and managing power more and more each subsequent roll race. On dry pavement, Mac will walk both of these cars at their current power ratings.

  • This was a sick race as much as that McLaren was rapid I would still pick GTR any day it may not be an R34 but I still love GTR’s regardless but you can’t knock that M5 it’s so versatile you could literally have the whole family in the car and go out handing out them gapperoni pizzas, so good
