If you come here legally then that is fine, you belong here.....but if you had to sneak in to the country then no you shouldn't be here, because then you are taking away resources from people who are supposed to be here need. • More like the US colonizes PR and we are half citizen's. We can't vote for the US president...so please mayo face don't do oversimplification of our status to make a point. We are Puerto Ricans and we should be respected for being puerto Ricans, not Americans. This is problem. Native Hawaiians hated their colonial status now their power on the island is at all time low. Imagine calling them American to hault hate even tho US is the country who invaded and colonized. Puerto Ricans who read their history know relationship with the US has a toxic beginning and you should read up on it too, because yes "technically" puerto ricans are US citizens. But we aren't given full citizenship rights and it delays our way of living. Look up the Jones Act and it's sad people dare to comment on PRs but don't even know the policies that affect them. The Jones Act still affects us today. We are Boriku and refuse our colonial status...so no Yankee we denounce your label. US has bombed our island for centuries. We are citizen's but never were treated like citizen's...so chill. Just say we are Puerto Rican and that's more than enough reason to not hate on us. We don't need to be labeled American to get people to care more. Being Rican should be more than enough. It's just an ignorant take and it should go. It would help give Ricans space to be themselves instead of fit a label that oppressed and continously oppressed them. USA isn't good to PR and it's always been that.

In case you didn't know, racism affect every aspect of POC's lives. You can't "ignore it", when it's pushed into your face every damn day. What you saw in this video is minor. It's just the pick of the iceberg. People of colour and especially black people get poor treatment solely based on their skin colour. It start at a young age being humiliated because of their ethnic traits, their names, skin colour, irrational stereotypes disguise as a "joke", even their own teacher could be racist. Then comes the adult life, denied jobs, denied a place to live, pulled by the police for no valid reason, being followed in the damn store because apparently dark skin makes makes people look "suspicious" and the list goes on. In can even affect your dating life, where parents refuse to let you date their daughter or son because of your skin colour! It's not normal. Racists people shouldn't be shield nor tolerate. I have seen dash cam of a white female take her truck and ram it into a police car after they tried to stop her. She lived to go to jail. Two white children shooting at the police lived to go to jail. I don’t want any child harm but just another example. The 12 year old black child playing in the park with a toy gun shot and killed. A white man shoot up a mall and live. The life is taken out of a black man for a $20 bill or selling CD’s but as they “why don’t they just do what they are told” I guess the part that upset me so is when people what to say there is no racism.
