    • Let's start with the fact that there are no weak players at this type of tournament and the tennis elite plays themselves in the last matches. Smaller fish manage to qualify, but they fall off very quickly and only the best of the best are left. Which does not change the fact that even these smaller fish gain experience and sophistication in deep waters and it is + for them. JAZDA IGA

    • Iga made much more errors than in her peak/optimal form. This made Raducanu appear to be relevant but in fact it is just a false positive impression. Raducanu had 0% control in his match from the beginning till the end. Most of time time she was pushed and stretched or out of balance. If it wasn't for Iga's unforced mistakes (mostly returns but also a bunch of clean "winners" surprisingly missed) Raducanu would have got no more than 2-3 games in that match. Probably even less if Iga played error-free. Iga played just solid but it's more than obvious she is still rusty and she is still to find for her optimal form ...

    • @@philshyu5248 Yes, that’s very effective, Iga mentioned only one other WTA player using that grip, and rare also at ATP. You are right, it looks similar to Rafa. There is YT video “Iga Swiatek forehand analysis”. You can see how difficult it is to perform. Swing is almost 360 degrees. In Madrid the courts are in the top condition, so it will be a clay player’s paradise. And as WTA1000 there will be line sensors, so all close calls can be checked. The other clay weapon is her kick serve on the second serve. Ball bounces high above shoulder level, so the one who is receiving must basically not step into the court. We saw that in Miami final, even it’s a hard court, Naomi had to go two steps behind the baseline. In the first set she was on the court.

She's had 3 matches this year where she was within 2 points of winning but for poor shot selection. 🤞 she'll win a round or 2 in Madrid next week. Hopefully this match has given her some belief since she's had 3 different experiences this week; an easy win, a hard win where she could have lost her way & had to survive a period where her opponent couldn't miss and a close loss where but for the odd ball flicking off a line she could have taken it to a 3rd against a woman dominating the tour this year

Never would have imagined her going on a 21 match winning streak to kickstart 2022. Double sunshine champion which only 3 female tennis players have acheived before her. • Iga won the 2018 French Open girls' doubles and 2018 Wimbledon girls' singles, then the 2020 French Open without dropping a set. After seeing her performance in the 2020 French Open, I thought she was going to be a top player. Her movement and extremely fast top spin rotation, taking the ball very quickly, make her a nightmare matchup, especially on clay, which is not what she played on today. That was a hybrid surface, with much less friction than a traditional outdoor clay surface. On the other hand, her three Master's Series match wins were all on hard courts. Her serving needs improvement; it's not a consistent weapon. The hitch in her motion is unnatural and a hindrance. If she develops a fluid serve and adds 5-10 mph, she could be a champion at the level of Steffi Graf and Justine Henin, IMO.

    • As anyone who plays tennis knows, it's alot easier to hit the ball back where it came from rather than having to change its direction, especially when the ball is coming at speed like for a serve. Not saying it's impossible, but its a tough shot to just take over on return like that, only the best returners really try that. Many players are happy just hitting it back crosscourt with pace and play out the point from there.

    • @@JustMe-jy5qk Well lets not act like Emma had the draw from hell coming into this match. She had to play a qualifier and a lucky loser. Literally the only difference between Iga's and Emma's draw is that Emma had to play one more match since Iga had a 1st round bye (which she more than earned). Meanwhile Iga came into this match with a 20 match win streak, while Raducanu had a lot of rest before Stuttgart. So if the question is who had the energy advantage between the two, the answer is definitely Emma.

    • @@mirrorzedge523 having a extra day off helps with body and mind recovery. We are talking about high level tennis here. Emma has a tougher 3 sets then into QF. Iga had that day off. Hence not surprised emma had a stiffer back. Not an excuse. But small edge can make the difference. For Emma, she had to dig deep with extra effort as it was only her 3rd wta pro clay. Ofc iga has the advantage with all her 20 wins. But not to take away any credit fr Emma for rattling the no. 1 who probably was expecting to serve her bagels or breadsticks. No free lunch yesterday. • @@JustMe-jy5qk Oh don't get me wrong Emma definitely impressed me and I was skeptical of her in the past. I'm just saying Emma was absolutely fresher than Iga coming into this match. Emma having to play one extra match versus a lucky loser does not compare to Iga's 20 match winning streak, in terms of physical toll. There's no chance Iga is fresh for this match and is probably in some kind of niggling pain. That's just the reality. But I give credit where it's due, Emma still has talent and potential, which is why I'd like to see her when she's more experienced versus a fresh Iga in their next match.

She played some insane tennis today but many of her balls were too long, she made 34 unforced errors her backhand wasn't working and she was sliding a lot on this slippery court. Emma put up a good fight and credit to her but there was a nervousness in Iga's play. The match was hyped up due to Emma's poularity as her fans were looking to break the win steak. Emma's serve was great, backhand down the line was joy to watch but there is a difference in quality of tennis they both play. It was Iga's 2nd match on clay this year so i hope she is still looking to find the rythm. I was glad she trains with Badosa but no training can compare with a real match. Hope she eventually work her game out on clay and we will see more unbelievable tennis from her. GO IGA 😍😍😍

Both women gave us a real good show. Iga seemed bit out of youch today. Distracted, bit nervous or maybe too focused on the goal and less focused on the game. A worse day maybe...? Who knows. There were moments that Emma was delightful to watch. Her game still needs some minor things to polish - but she gave a No.1 a little thriller. Made Iga's head quite shaky for a moment and put just a tiny bit of humbleness in her heart It was ...a good fight overall. Not thrilling. Maybe not so entertaining as Junior Wimbledon Final, but many thanks to both players. Congratulations To Iga and Emma. In my opinnion both have a bright future ahead. And I sincerely hope both of You will give us many unforgettable moments in your careers soon enought. Thank You.

Świątek had lost just three games in her previous six sets, and Emma’s 8 games is, in fact, more than the number Świątek dropped against her last ten opponents COMBINED. Moreover, this was Emma’s first ever match against a player ranked in the top ten, and also her FIRST WTA professional tournament on clay (and she was playing against a previous winner of Clay’s only Grand Slam!) By any standards, this was an excellent performance from Emma Raducanu.
