For someone that's never played a clay tournament in her pro career until last week, this is surprisingly good. She certainly has the game, variety and the movement to do well on the surface.
Relax she beat a qualifier and a WC
I was thinking the same. She looked pretty darn good for not playing a ton on clay
@@farhatk6054 Qualifiers can be quite good, a qualifier won the US Open without dropping a set.
@@farhatk6054 anyone who qualifies for these tournaments are good these are top 100 women in the world
She beat someone who can't even walk well
Just watched the full match. That first set Emma played was the best tennis from her since the US Open by far -- the highlights don't capture that. Her first serves were huge. A bit of a letdown in the second set but she bounced back well mentally to dominate the third set. It was a significant win, partly because Tamara is a clay-court specialist who has won 10 ITF titles all on clay, so she's no pushover on this surface, having beaten Sakkari and Badosa before.
good comment i bet laura siegemund 13 and won 75
Yeah the first set highlights here are shocking, I guess they gotta keep it within around 8 minutes though. Something maybe really encouraging looking at her on the surface is some of her defensive shots she made, she made a brilliant defensive sliding shot and then went on to win the point, it was maybe the longest point of the match or the most gruelling one.
The best set she played since us open should be 1R at AO
@@gzhang6073 Considering this this is Emma’s first clay court tournament and against a player where clay is their specialty where she only won 7 points in the set, that was probably her best.
Tamara just played either hot or cold today. In the 1st set and much of the 3rd she could barely get a ball in court whereas in the 2nd she just started to hit out and git enough balls in to unsettle Raducanu who just had to be confident that the balls would soon stop hitting the lines. 3 set matches are what Raducanu needs this year to get used to the match court, it's just her inexperience in closing out 3 setters letting her down such as in her match against Martic where she was 2 points from a win while serving and hit the wrong forehand. Tomorrow she's finally in a match under no pressure which should help her to relax since Iga will be under pressure. Providing she doesn't get hammered the match should really help her especially if she can get a break or 2.
I always root for her, so proud of her, she’s so beautiful and talented! Even if she retired now she would still have a grand slam and most people don’t ever achieve that, so definitely excited for her future! People need to remember that when they are criticizing her.
why she would retire?
@@carlosroca9462 That was just hypothetical.
Very good point
She is pretty. That’s for sure. But she has to play at a higher level. This is tennis. If you don’t win, nothing else matters.
Lucklily being pretty does not guarantee success in the sport, what a shit comment that is
It’s so strange following a player who is a GS champion and is also so inexperienced that she’s never played a clay court tournament before. She may have lost a set here, but it’s great that her last two matches have shown flashes of the brilliance and dominance she showed in the USO. Every set she’s won has been very one-sided. Hopefully it continues throughout Stuttgart.
Because she's s fluke
Unfortunately she had Iga Swiatek next 🤣 I want her to do well though but just bad timing
@@landonlowe4029 doesn't matter, the pressure is on Iga not Emma.
im taking bets on what injury she will fake when Iga is whooping her arse!
Emma is rounding into shape- you know everything is about Wimbledon and US Open for the champ.
Clay is one of those surfaces that allows you to find form and perfect your shot production. I believe Radacanu will gain her confidence again and her ground strokes will only improve by playing on the clay. She'll have hit so many balls by the time the grass season comes her game should be near to where it was at the US Open.
For someone young and inexperienced she is really showing what major talent lies inside and it’s starting to surface she never got here by climbing the progressive steps like all others but was more like fired by a cannon straight up the rankings .. amazing story
You are spot on. Jumpstarted her major tournament debut from before Wimby at 361 ranked April 2021. Skipped thru all the progressive stages that all players take in the usual build up of their career. And she's working so hard to maintain her level at this current rank. Amazing journey ahead
Emma's still developing physically and experience wise, I can see her physique getting slowly more mature and muscular toned, rate of her physical growth since Wimbledon is astonishing! In another year or two she's gonna be so powerful with that big serve, especially on grass at Wimbledon! And on hard court like we saw at US Open her service is a monster, top 5 serve in women's Tennis at least at 19! Nothing to lose against Swiatek who is firm favourite, but against Emma? No one really knows, that's the beauty of watching her, Grand Slam Champion one day, loses in first round against No.80 in the World next time. It's going to be a fantastic ride following her career......most exciting thing in Tennis.....all Tennis! Openness of Women's tennis with so many potential winners makes the men's game boring to me, has done for years.🙏
Exactly. Iga is the 1st player she's played since the US Open who has nothing to gain by beating her and has no pressure at all when she steps in court since she's expected to get a double bagel.
I hear you, but I prefer consistent, dominant champions like Ash, Serena, Vika, Iga over inconsistent ones any day.. so I genuinely hope Emma follows in the footsteps of the greats rather than win big, then lose against No.80 in the world.. in my opinion, the most exciting thing in the game of sports, all sports, is intriguing rivalries! WTA hasn't had that in years if not a couple of decades.. seriously hoping we get some good constant rivalries on WTA, and Iga-Emma would be a highly pleasurable one to watch :)
@@amerajanovic4841 Rivalries? That tells me that there are a few dominant players who play each other. And I don't think that's healthy, because it means there is no depth in the sport. When the level is so high at the top that anyone can beat anyone, it shows you how much depth the sport has.
Why do you believe her serve is a monster, top 5? There are plenty of players with bigger serves - just look at the speed gun. And what astonishing physical growth have you seen? I saw her training at Park Langley when she was 16 years old and my daughter was playing a tournament there on the same day, and she doesn't look much different to that for me. That aside, I should point out I'm a huge fan, and think what she has done is incredible. It's just that people come out with things that seem, to me, to have no evidence, and all you're doing is putting her up on a pedestal where it is all too easy for them to be knocked down. If you remember the hard time Andy got, when he won he was British, but when he lost he was Scottish. Very unfair treatment of individual athletes who are all doing their best.
@@NoOne-le2jv Nope. She is a 1-time gs champion too.
Good fight by Emma to push through the 3 set match, a good test for her mentally too. Tamara played well too, hope to see more of her on the tour. Emma will need to be sharp against Iga to stand a chance of winning. She seems to be moving well on clay too so I hope it’ll be a good match.
a chance of winning.... a few games.
She just needs to avoid bagels and bread sticks and I'd be so proud of her! 😅
Overall, this was a good win by Raducanu. Tamara has won 10 ITF titles, all on clay, as well as coming into this in great form having won an ITF event before losing in the final of a WTA 125, and then beating top 30 ranked Camila Giorgi in the 1st round. Only last year she took Pliskova to 3 close sets in this tournament. Her record on clay is far superior to her record on other surfaces.
A very tricky game with Korpatsch all guns blazing in the second set. Bravo Emma for holding and winning the match.
Impressed by how much work Emma gets on her forehand. The top spin is great for clay
!!CONGRATS EMMA!! It's a great pleasure to see you win.
And today she will loose again!....shes playing against Iga the world nr 1....
THE UMPIRE'S VOICE IS AMAZING!
There was huge cheer when he was introduced at the beginning of the match. He’s a fan favourite!!
Kader Nouni ,my favourite umpire
He should ask for a pay rise most of the fans came to see him at the tournament 😍
@@icecream9687 I think you mean “hear him”.
Raducanu looks comfortable on clay. She's putting good forms and mentality together. Let's keep it going!!
Glad to see Emma added some variety to her game.
great match from tamara too, who was also playing in one of her first big centre court main draw matches. incredible spirit the way she went for her shots. more of her please. :))
I dont think that Emma is going to be an easy player to beat by Iga. Emma has talent and should be a good game to watch.
I hope you're right but Iga is playing on another level and I'm afraid it could be a bit one sided.
Are you dreaming?...or just hoping she wont loose against Iga!....she will be out tomorrow when she plays Iga....she stands no chance!
If raducanu takes match to 3 sets or even just breaks igas serve once or twice it would be a performance no top 10 player has been able to do in the last 4 finals....that's how good IGA is playing who knows maybe she can trouble her a bit be fun to watch.....she has nothing to loose no one expects her to get a game so pressure is off .....
@@sohailhines iga will lose at one point maybe tonight’s that night
Another solid performance from Emma. Her 1st and 3rd sets were excellent, but just a tad concerned about another 2nd set give away. 🙌🙌💪🐬
Go Emma :) wishing you so well against Iga!
A thumb up for you, but I think Iga is in a very dominant form, even intimidating like an invincible one. >"
Emma Raducannu and Iga Swiatek have never played at the tour level. But they played once as juniors in Wimbledon. That didn't go well for Emma, she lost 6-0 and 6-1 on that occasion. I'm very curious to see how they will match up tomorrow, four years later and now both of them Grand Slam champions.
Emma will be loosing today against Iga thats for sure!....shes playing a world nr 1 ranked player....NO CHANCE TODAY!
No one has a chance against IGA in the last 4wta finals she demolished players ranked 4...5 And 6 best in the world they never broke her serve and 3 sets of those sets were 6.0 ! amazing....so if raducanu wins 4 games in 2 sets she is as good as any of the top 8 players in the world against IGA....if she breaks igas serve wow....kontaveit/Sakkari/ Pliskova /Osaka could not break her serve once!!
@@josephinesaayman5806 There's no shame in that if she'll lose. That will be her 3rd clay compared to 30 plus for Iga.

Amazing how an unseeded player, with faith, can hit such brilliant shots in that 2nd set - Emma was just dazed!
Emma was ok in the 2nd, Tamara was really good and loosened up. She’s no slouch on clay either, by far her best surface.
She managed it for one set. Emma managed it for 20 sets last September!
Raducanus ranking was 345 before Wimbledon and 180 at US open
That umpire really seems to enjoy using his deep voice, haha.
Congrats again Emma... Wish you Good luck in the QF...
It was good for Emma to go three sets. She needs to spend more time on Clay. Emma will need to step up her game to even give Swiatek a challenge. I like them both. I think Swiatek will win 6-3 6-2. And that's being optimistic.
Same here. I like both of them and will not miss the match. Iga is playing a superb tennis since the beginning of the season with a new fighting spirit. I can't see Iga loosing this match against Emma who is a newbie on clay and she needs to find back the level of tennis she showed at the US open. I just wish we can see great tennis.
@@SainyaHokage even if she plays the tennis she played at us open its gonna be a straight sets victory for swiatek still
@@notis6107 I did not say I wish she finds back her tennis from US open so she can beat Iga. I just said it because I wish she can play again a tennis better than what she showing now. Specifically against Iga, I think Emma's intelligence of game and her defense (especially important on clay) are not on par. Iga sees the game very well and also she has now a new coach and a new mentality to absolutely fight and win. I like both of them so I wish them good luck for tomorrow.
@@SainyaHokage swiatek is a better defender than raducanu and i dont understand the intelligence raducanu has, barty was an inteligent player not emma

Riccardo Piatti did a wonderful job with Emma
Is this enough to play against 1ga like equal to equal? I doubt it, but because of its specific surface this tournament is tricky and surprises are more possible than in any other classic clay tournament. May the better win... 1ga of course 😉

Emma raducanu wow wow what a fantastic shorts 💥this match emma very well played 👌👌👌
Lets put things in its place, Sanders is #197 and Korpatch #118, Emma won both matches, the second loosing a set and now she will face #1 and a clay specialist, I will be surprised if Emma wins more than 4 games in the match vs Iga
Hi Andres Igas record lately is incredible here are stats Pliskova Rome final IGA wins 6.0 6.0 Pliskova couldn't win one game next kontaveit final in Doha 6.2 6.0 next Miami final with Osaka 6.4 6.0 IGA wins next Indian Wells Final with Sakkari 6.4 6.1 IGA wins again...IGA is playing the top 8 players in the world and smashing them looking at the numbers if raducanu wins 4 games in 2 sets with IGA she's doing as good as any top 8 players .that's how good IGA is right now....! So Emma will not feel bad at all
@@vls3771 Yes, that's why I wrote that I would be surprised if Emma wins more than 4 games, maybe she does, who knows, Emma is super smart
Yea if she troubles igas serve in any way that would be a surprise who knows.........no one else has........
@@vls3771 She's got nothing to lose and for the first time in her WTA career can walk onto the court like she did at the US Open with no pressure and just play one point at a time going for her shots. If she gets a double bagel so what, but if she manages to get a game or 2 it could really boost her confidence.
@@vls3771 I think that on clay and without Barty, only Badosa and Krejcikova can be a challenge for Iga, maybe Jabeur and Sakkari on a very good day or Garbiñe if she can somehow play like she did at RG 2016, but I think Badosa might be the one with more chances in this clay season

Great play Emma congrats 👏
Maybe Raducanu might consider shortening backhand and relying more on backhand slice to push ball so as to position herself to rely on strong forehand. Let strong forehand and strong serve lead her game; use two backhand and slice backhand in a fashion that eliminates mistakes on that wing, but is meant purposefully to PUSH ball to "live for another" so her forehand can end points.
Superstar 😍😍😍😍😍
I don't think Emma's faced a top 10 player yet.

Yea no shame in loss to IGA in the last 4WTA finals she played rank4 5 and 6 in world not just won those finals but 3sets of matches were 6.0 to IGA but heres the thing ..no one even broke her serve ...not once!! If raducanu breaks her serve or wins more than 5 games in two sets she will be doing better than the top 8 players in the world against IGA .
When Emma Raducanu places the balls in the center of the opposing field, she is overrun and almost always loses the point! And if she decides to place away from the opponent she becomes very difficult to beat because she is precise... Congratulations Emma! confidence returns!
Looks like her feet feel better, that's good.
Swiatek will crush Raducanu in the next round.
Totally agree, im just curious what injury she will most likely fake when shes getting whooped as she normally does these days!
I wouldn't be so sure, she might not win as Iga is clearly heads and shoulders above everyone else at the moment as well as playing on her favorite surface but as long as Emma can keep a reasonably respectable score line then she should be proud of herself as this will only be Emma's fifth match on clay as a professional tennis player!
@@eyeofthetiger6002 Emma doesn't have the mentality to be a consistent winner of tournaments. She does not have the right attitude to be a great champion. She may win a few tournaments in her career, but she will not be a great champion like Graf, Navratilova, Seles, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Justine Henin etc. Swiatek will be the next dominant champion in women's tennis, and Raducanu will be just another inconsistent player who may win a tournament once every 3 or 4 years.
It’s the umpire with the super bass voice.
Bravo Emma.
once again, I heard this attractive contrabassoon umpire's voice. Very happy to Emma's consecutive wins. Next match she will play against Iga, a real deal, hopefully the tragedy of 2018 Wimbledon junior match won't happen again. My prayers to God.

It is fine to defeat the "no name" low-rankers, but lovely Emma needs to get the magic back, mow down all the big names like at last year's US Open, and crack the top five..and then some. Emma takes on my second favorite player today, so it is my top two, head-to-head. Iga is certainly on a major roll. It is my current ultimate matchup though, with my top two favorite ladies facing each other. :-]
In fact, she wasn't drawn to many big names at last year's UO. It's still a little too early to expect her being top 5.
Maybe I am thinking of her semifinal, and perhaps quarterfinal.
Tamara Korpatsch 😘
Brilliant Emma
Emma! Emma! Emma!
Today...Iga Swiatek...Poland...! 🌎🌍🌏
Go Emma. Great game!
Learned Experience! Emma relaxed and took foot of pedal after cruising first set! Had to reset and play and extra set. She won't do that again! Last time she played Swiatek was Wimbledon "Girls" and got crushed! If she only loses 6-3 6-3 she"LL have done well and got more Top level experience, not just on clay, but more Top Level experience full stop! It's gonna be hottest ticket in town, but expect Swiatek to win comfortably; she's untouchable at minute and only player who is more athletic and faster than Emma at getting almost impossible returns! Reaching quarter finals is a good step forward for Emma in her first tour year, and if she hadn't won US open and lost in first round as the "experts" predicted! We would be marvelling at her doing so well at Stuttgart! Hope she gives Swiatek a decent game, her confidence is up again now, so anything is possible, and I saw a few shots here reminiscent of her US Open run, but I also saw a lot of loose shots and timid/not attacking shots in 2nd set......if she does that against Swiatek she could get crushed again. Hope not cus she's the most beautiful phenomenon in Women's tennis right now! 🙏❤️
btw, the chair umpire's voice!
Iga is gonna snatch her up next round!
Emma will definately loose today against Iga the nr 1 player in the world!...she will be knocked out today!
Wonderful Emma first set Emma was incredible totally dominated her german opponent, its great to see her serving so well, the best she has served in any match since the US OPEN, and its a delight to see, Emma is rapidly learning how to play on clay, I like her moonballing with various spins she is using on the ball pushing the opponent back, also her drop shots are well timed and executed and Emmas ability to wrong foot her opponent is superb, what a talent this lovely girl has, I give lots of credit to her opponent who fought like a tiger in set 2, and as Emma said made life very difficult, now the ultimate teat for Emma against IGA, Emma has nothing to lose playing the world no 1 and can have a free swing at it, If Emma can somehow nullify IGA,S hard powerful ground strokes and read her serve she may have a chance, whatever we now know Emma is the real deal on any surface and thats tremendously exciting, GO EMMA GO.
2 of her matches here are her best serving definitely this year. 4 aces last match and 5 here with a bunch that were unreturned.
