When Nick puts a bit of effort in he's incredibly watchable and can take on anything. Journalist are always giving him a hard time but the truth of the matter they love him as he gives them so much material. Other players are super PC and safe with what they say in post match interviews. Nick is different. He simply refused to fall in line with the stereotypical tennis role model expectation pattern.

  • If players like Nadal keep going to the boxes to return the serves, this is a very potent option to bring them closer to the baseline..

    • If they try it more than once a match the opponent will spot it coming and move in quickly for an easy cross court shot close to the net. It’s throwing points away.

  • Surprised they don't do this more. If players did, I think it would change the dynamic of the game. It would force players like Nadal & Djokovic to move in which means they wouldn't be able to return as well which would give the server a big advantage.

    • Yeah in future underarm serve will be a norm, credit goes to Nick for bringing it out from the rule book. But he could have used in more especially in second serves as Nadal was still a good 4 metres away.

    • @@juanestebankruhsanmguel1960 If they can't return as good, that means the server would be able to dictate the point more often. Which would allow the server to hit more winners.

    • @@user-bu4fc6ki9z I can't see it becoming the norm but it would be another shot that players could use to keep opponents honest. Like the drop shot.

    • @@lynnturman8157 By norm I mean it will be used without any pejorative connotation attached to it. Right now many consider it to be not in the spirit of the game. Drop shot was also considered in the same vein but now it was normalised and accepted as genuine shot.
