That was very good shot tactically speaking since he had hit monster serves the last 3 points and Nadal was a solid metre or so behind the baseline.
Not a metre away he was 4 metres away from the baseline. Underarm serve will be very potent against Nadal. Others should use against him.

I'm glad this is on trending cos I love this sport and I'm glad it's getting this kind of attention.
Nick is fantastic for tennis. Brings true level of style and behavioural diversity to the table. It's incredible how much natural talent and untapped potential there is in him. When Nick puts a bit of effort in he's incredibly watchable and can take on anything. Journalist are always giving him a hard time but the truth of the matter they love him as he gives them so much material. Other players are super PC and safe with what they say in post match interviews. Nick is different. He simply refused to fall in line with the stereotypical tennis role model expectation pattern.
Nick has the perfect service game. Can literally hit anywhere in the court + the underarm, i think its a good tactic.

The difference between Nadal and Kyrgios: Nadal: Wins grand slam matches and is humble about it in the press. Kyrgios: Wins underhand serves when he's 40 love and makes a big deal out of it in the press.
The press was asking why he only did 2 underarm serve when both of them got him the point. He didn't make a big deal out of it, he just didn't feel like doing a 3rd one
@@allanyang21 Kyrgios must have at least a little bit pf pride and does not want to admit that underarm serves are his best tactic against Nadal, because Nick could not possibly out play him without it. He likes to pretend he cares about nothing but, either he is stupid to not use the underarm more to have a better chance of winning, or he is somewhat ashamed that his underarm tactic is superior to his A game. If Nick is wiling to use it once or twice, then why not use it more? A genuine bad boy who does not care would use it all match.

If players like Nadal keep going to the boxes to return the serves, this is a very potent option to bring them closer to the baseline..
If they try it more than once a match the opponent will spot it coming and move in quickly for an easy cross court shot close to the net. It’s throwing points away.

Yeah in future underarm serve will be a norm, credit goes to Nick for bringing it out from the rule book. But he could have used in more especially in second serves as Nadal was still a good 4 metres away.
