Having an Infinity Gauntlet themed attraction in Asgard (which lost half it's population to Thanos) is like having an Atomic Bomb themed kids attraction in Nagasaki.
They could call the ride "The Atom Smasher".

Sounds like that idea was discussed but scrapped, sadly. From Business Insider: Waititi did note that "there was talk about having [the Guardians] come back at the end" of "Love and Thunder." Ultimately, that didn't happen, mostly because Marvel heroes swooping in at the end of MCU movies to help out other heroes in need is something that has been done a bunch of times before. "No more. No more of the cavalry coming at the end," Waititi told Insider. "So we shelved that idea. We just wanted Jane to come in at the end."

@Gabe Mark i mean Thor 3 made shitloads of money and was pretty well liked by most people. The difference there was it was written by someone not Taika Waititi. He wrote Love and Thunder. His writing style doesnt suit the material. But he is a good director and his quirky spin on things is fun in reasonable doses.

The ending with all the kids getting superpowers and fighting really gave me the vibe that the movie was completely made for children, but then the whole topic of cancer/terminal illness’s effect on love and wellbeing is way too heavy for kids. So we ended up with something that was neither, and often felt like two entirely different narratives crashing into eachother, resulting in an overall mess.
I actually went and saw this movie as a "casual" fan (I don't really keep up with marvel all that much but i did watch ragnarok) and I thought it was hilarious. I guess I didn't really go to watch it "seriously," I thought most marvel movies are meant to be fun and jokes (Spiderman's awkwardness and Iron man's arrogance) and if you want serious and deep superhero movies, you watch DC. except DCEU sucks, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. edit: wow. the replies make me wish *i had cancer.* maybe they should've called this movie "life and death," it seems to be how critically the audience treated it.
@@hobomike6935 I didn’t go in expecting serious, I went in expecting fun. But there’s still a balance on humour and killing jokes by overdoing them and even explaining the jokes at times. Then to just interrupt that humour with super heavy cancer/breakup/loss narratives that go nowhere is just funky.
The ending of Jane felt very defeatist considering it dealt with such a serious and sensitive topic.
yup it's actually ridictlous they released this after watching it, they really could have just made it an entire show or something but they wouldn't have made nearly as much money off it, I also feel like the movie was a loss leader or a test of some sort to get a reaction on what or what not to do ? lmao?
Writers should never be afraid to have deep messages and serious topics IF it fits in the setting of the movie. Here, the cancer thing feels extremely out of place and would only work if Thor 4 was more serious

Exactly! I've always felt Thor 4 should have had Sam Rami and Multiverse of Madness should have had Taika Waititi. Thor 4 would have explored the butchering part of Gorr more and Multiverse of Madness could have had more fun with the Multiverses instead of only really seeing 2....

That would have been funny if we had established any sort of sapience from Stormbreaker or Johnatan previously.
I think the sentient thing could have worked well, if it had been discovered it's sentience was connected to Thors conciousness not Odin the whole time for worthiness. Would have explained why it moved for Cap in AOU then cap finally picked it up in Endgame as Thor was in awe of Caps bravery. Also why Vision could lift it due to him being awakened by Thors thunder and Jane being worthy because he loved and trusted her etc. But they didn't delve into that side. Just a stupid gag that each weapon are jealous of each other.. 🙄 all the gags seem to be centred around narcissism too, which definitely links to TW's personality.

funny that you think this was all his fault when he has almost zero creative control. The director gets to film very few scenes in anything disney. look at literally anything else hes made and theyve all been fantastic including ragnarok. Why? because he had control and could do what he wanted instead of disney suits over his shoulder telling him how to do everything.

And from everything I can find, L&T gave him MORE creative control than Thor 3. tl;dr: Cope harder. If you like the movie, like the movie. Don't make stuff up.
@EGRJ thor 3 had an unusable script that taika had to quickly rewrite and by the time they started filming they had not even half a script to work with and ended up improving the rest with the cast helping write their own lines.
I feel so bad that they wasted Christian Bale for this movie in the MCUniverse. I remember liking this movie when I first saw it, then hating it the more I thought about it. The kids scene fighting the monsters that should've been eating their souls inside out was like 'ugh really'
I don't know if it's worse than using Christopher Eccleston on The Dark World. Bale has enough brand name, while Ecclestone's finances were poor enough that he had to do audio dramas.

Not always. Ever heard of Ugandan movie 'Who Killed Captain Alex?' See, the film was made on very low budget, poor equipment, and utterly ridiculous writing and acting. But guess what? It is damn entertaining. The filmmakers knew what they were doing, but they clearly pour their hearts and souls into it. They gave it all. They knew the film is gonna be dumb, so they pulled no punch and went ball to the wall in order to make a film. Thor Love and Thunder is the result when you made a film about a woman dying of cancer and a father who saw his starved daughter died in his arms, yet you somehow think littering said film with juvenile humor with make it a good story.

The most frustrating part of this was getting occasional glimpses of the good movie(s) it should have been. The trouble, I think, is that it tries to do everything. Themes and tones can absolutely be juggled judiciously. The Tarantino-scale violence implied by a "god butcher," the ramifications of such powerful beings dying, the Looney Tunes elements of screaming goats and dumpling gods, the rock-n-roll superhero vibes, the Jane-has-the-hammer-now-what-does-that-mean story, the serious cancer and relationship drama, the continuing story of the Asgardian people.... any two could absolutely fit in one movie. A talented director -- and I think Waititi is -- could have done three. But he took ALL those balls, plus half a dozen more, hurled them into the air, and called it juggling. Taika. My dude. You've also got to CATCH them.

Located in Asgard, a place that had half of it's population killed by Thanos in cold blood, and then another half snapped away. Hell, I'm certain that Heimdall's son has actually been to an ice cream shop based off the guy who killed his freakin' father.
fr, it’s like they tried to insert the real world into the MCU there. But Thanos hasn’t traumatized everyone in the real world like he did in the MCU (especially Asgard who already had lost 50% of the population before the snap, meaning they got reduced to 25% of their population). That gauntlet would be downright offensive to pretty much everyone. If you were gonna have a gauntlet it would be the Iron Man one since it killed Thanos.

Worst thing about this movie, that it had like a ton of great ideas and concepts. Difference between gods and powerful aliens, Gorr, Eternity, a whole city of gods, a norse ship sailing the bifrost between worlds, Jane Foster having to choose between living longer or being a hero, shadow world, etc. It just took a huge, gross, steaming dump on each and every one of those.
Also to explore what New Asgard and their people are like in the modern human world. Nope just a big stupid theme park. New Asgard should have been building up to be like Wakanda in terms of respect, advancement and nobility. Urks me. Gorr and Zeus were the biggest wastes though.
@@Natta44 exactly! Especially considering that judging by some of the kidnapped kids, and that light elf subplot from She-Hulk, New Asgard is now basically a gateway for aliens to Earth.

@@vza7938 at first we were told that Thor, Loki, Heimdall, etc are not gods, just aliens with basically magitek or psionics. Then they became sort of aliens with abilities other Asgardians and Frost Giants lacked. Eventually they started to be called gods again, with drawing strength from their people. But they were still aliens, and their powers being explicitly magic... Then we also got Egyptian gods, magical and otherworldly, and looking different from each other, so they aren't some alien species... Then we got greek/roman gods, but at least two of them are actually Earth-bound Eternals... So what ARE gods? What makes a being qualify as a god? Thanos apparently isn't one, despite being able to kill gods easily. Is Captain Marvel a goddess? Is Valkyrie? If so, was their force an entire army of goddesses? Where did Gorr and Necrosword draw the lines? Literally nothing of this is explained.
Opening up an ice cream shop themed around a genocidal space man with a savior complex is like having a japanese restaurant themed around Emperor Hirohito.
The video didn't even mock the worst part: The fact there was a place that granted wishes, yet Thanos never thought to go there to accomplish his goal. He, instead, devised a more elaborate and time-consuming plan. He must like wasting his time, I guess.
And when we know it requires Bifrost, how come none of Asgardians never thought about going there? Also why Thor never before thought about giving even a small piece of his power to allies in previous battle? How come those kids know to fight at all, and none of them were turned inside out? Way to ruin even previous movies....
Honestly the thing that broke me was the kids being kidnapped. The (god butcher) kidnapped a bunch of kids and kept them in a little cage so we can have a scene where the kids in whiny little voices say "Thor will come for us and then you'll be sowwy you big meanie" and gorr hams it up like "oh reaaaally? You think Thor is a match for me mwahahaha" like go back to fighting the power rangers Ivan ooze. TF
And whole point of kidnapping them was to lure Thor in. Why would Thor come for them? Because he cares. But whole crux of Gorr's crusade is that he is 100% convinced that gods don't care. THEN WHY WOULD HE DEVISE A PLAN THAT HINGES ON ONE CARING?!

Gorr finding the oasis shortly after loosing his daughter is part hus tragedy. He was so close to saving her, jet not close enough. This scene is also closely adepted to the original comic.

what bothers me is that they make gorr's necrosword literally look like a normal sword while hela's necroswords look like gorr's actual comic accurate necrosword.
Good point. They could have linked the 2 even. Hela was off-the-charts powerful and had the chops to be a god-butcher herself. Her demise from Surtur could have passed along her power (necrosword) in the same way that the Odinforce passed over to Thor. That would have been an interesting storyline.
She Hulk, Eternals, Captain Marvel, Thor Love and Thunder are masterpieces. I watched them hundreds of times and I did it because I liked it, hell I loved it, I'm itching to do it again.

Eternals are actually pretty decent and were they a Disney+ show with enough time to develop all characters a bit, they would've been up there with Wandavision for me. As a movie they were still in the better half of Marvel movies, from my point of view.

I've never been mad watching a movie until Love and Thunder. The ridiculous humor and Thor being a complete doofus was physically frustrating to watch. I wasn't even watching in a theatre and I still wanted to walk out by how annoying it was. Ragnarok was already pushing it for me (IMO), but this movie just dialled it up in the worst way

As someone who never got the hype for Ragnarok and thought it was trying hard to be goofy and subversive of everything we expect of Thor. I'll say, that film was largely decent outside it's comedy, Love and Thunder feels like they shot the film with an early, unpolished draft. And I'm enjoying this current anti-Taika Thor era.

I can relate to that. I did think they overdid the humor in Ragnorok. Not saying it wasn't funny, I just don't think it should've been THAT funny. At least most of the humor in Ragnorok landed though, Love and Thunder had so much unnecessary humor that a lot of the time never really landed

I remember back in the phase 3 years when Age of Ultron was the movie that everyone said wasn’t serious enough and sacrificed the feeling of urgency for a bunch of jokes. But when it came to Hulk’s trauma, Nat’s upbringing, Ultron’s liminal comprehension, and Thor’s visions, even Joss Whedon knew it was time to pause the jokes and focus on the gravity of the situation or character development. Plus, the jokes were actually still funny back then

I actually liked Bale's Gorr in the movie. Its just really too bad his character got butchered by a bunch of unfunny jokes and plot convenience.
Regarding the Infinity Gauntlet's image being turned into an ad gimmick: We live in a world where a Roman torture/execution device is one of the most-marketed symbols that exists, I don't think we can really talk
