On Land, In the Air & All At Sea (January - March 1941) World War II

2022 ж. 15 Жел.

The Luftwaffe continued its attempts to bomb Britain into submission, while the German Afrika Korps strengthened its position as Rommel, Hitler's "Desert Fox", took charge. At sea the naval forces battle each other and the elements, as the Japanese embark upon a spy mission to gather information about the American Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

  • 4:40 “Poland ... had been neatly carved up between Hitler and Stalin, and its inhabitants were now experiencing the horrors of Nazi occupation.” What’s wrong with that sentence? They suffered plenty of horrors of SOVIET occupation too. In fact far more people would suffer soviet horrors and for far longer than Nazi horrors. This is a huge problem with WW2 historiography in general - the complete erasure of the enormous, gargantuan crimes committed by the Soviet Union. This erasure is so deep, even when we start a sentence by mentioning that Poland was carved up between Berlin and Moscow, we still end the sentence by mentioning only Nazi occupation and Nazi horror.

  • You can't help but almost laugh at Benito Mussolini. I mean here was this powerful leader of Italy. A quick glance from afar you might think that. Then you watch over and over you don't see the clever dictator, but a bumbling idiot who got what he deserved. I mean Hitler worshipped the dude and crazy as Hitler was, as much as he lies to his adversaries, he's quite a loyal dude to the core bailing out Benito Mussolini many many times. Even when he was in prison there is an amazing story how he was broken out of a jail way in the mountains. Those Germans are something to look into as there is so much rich history. I love this series more than anything I've seen. Love the coverage and how it's broken down to the narrator. I don't know his name but when you hear his voice you know it's gonna be good stuff on history. You can feel his passion as he reads. He's more than just reading some script. Thank you for making these able to view here.

Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Class A research project. Orator presented the documentary very well. Special thanks to the allied forces who fought/perished/survived fighting the axis powers. Also the civilian resistance who contributed to the eventual defeat of the axis powers. Along with the motion & still photographers who made this documentary possible. Thank goodness Germany jumped too far too fast.

Poland could have signed any number of peace deals by Germany but chose not to because they believed Britain would help them. And even if they hadn't come to peace there is no reason a border dispute had to become a world War. 3. It was the Allies who wanted to ethnically cleanse Germans from the world. • This is so astonishingly made... Truly, you don't see that art anymore in modern films. Look at the build up after 9:00 with the music and the people and the picture of Hitler. I am German and I loved to become the superpower, it's my country and of course, it was a evil time but it's still my country... but I understand the threat and evil of Hitler. If Hitler wasn't there, Germany would have delevoped naturally into a superpower (look at the Jewish scientists that fled Germany, so Germany would be the first with the atombomb, beside having rockets!). Hitler kinda destroyed everything and without Hitler, Germany would have become a natural, maybe better superpower than the split between America and Russia. As I said... It's still my country, even in darkest times like now and like in '41/'42 to '45.

  • 1:46 Cowering in fear?! The video shows women sewing, playing with their children. I see no cowering! People are chatting & sleeping. I remember seeing a Facebook post some years ago showing these in the shelters reading, knitting, chatting, and napping. The poster pointed it out, saying, "These people had balls of steel." Your script / narrative completely contradicts the images in your own video! No people could have won a war like that if they were cowering in fear. They did what had to be done & made the best of their sitution. They were never broken.
