  • I like how every clip without the VR headset on he had red marks from the pressure it puts on his face because it isn't supported well. I have noticed now that it's been out for a few weeks no one is talking about it, as Linus said there's nothing to do it.

      @icdal.@icdal.2 ай бұрын
    • In my experience I get marks like that on my face with any VR/MR headset if I wear it for longer than 5 minutes. Unless it’s got a headband more like the PSVR which you wear almost like a hat/helmet it’s going to leave pressure marks on your face.

      @jfbski@jfbski2 ай бұрын
    • @icdal. Linus showed the other headband and said its not really any better because it still doesn't articulate.

      @Skylancer727@Skylancer7272 ай бұрын
    • @jfbski I've actually been using a VR headset of that design for about 5 years now and honestly think it may be even more inferior. The issue with mine is it doesn't quite fit the shape of my head so the band at the rear either feels really high and puts all the pressure on my forehead, or it sits on my nose but feels like it will fall off on the rear. I think it's a better design to hold it on the head securely and to not mess up your hair, but I do think other designs are better for taking off the force. Also it has the major issue of bouncing when really active or swinging your head. Mine doesn't even flip up like the PSVR does yet it still bounces a lot just because it's only attached to the band at the top.

      @Skylancer727@Skylancer7272 ай бұрын
    • @@jfbski It also depends on the face gasket. Even if you're not using a PSVR-style halo strap, if the face gasket is softer plastic, instead of hard plastic with a thin piece of foam, that's going to put significantly less pressure on your face.

  • What's so nice about this channel, is that it actually cares about the viewer's experience when it comes to sponsorship plugs. Many KZhead content creators have their production costs supplimented by living at home with mom and dad. They have no need for the sponsorship, yet they slam an ad right in the middle of their content. They seem oblivious to the fact that I PAY for a KZhead premium subscription in order to avoid ads. Linus, on the other hand, clearly needs the ad revenue to keep the quality as high as it is. He also segways into the ad in ways that make it far less intrusive. So bravo to Linus for striking an acceptable ballance.

The work that was put in the transitions and the physical illustrations (the 3 displays with the mask and the one-shot setup of a living room with people coming in as you review the product) were exceptional, funny and added so much value! Would it then "click" and then let you see a FOV well over 180 degrees (essentially being able to see behind you) while still feeling natural? And if that could be done, would it also be possible to use different types of cameras to let you see new colors or perhaps even light outside the visible spectrum?

My configuration of storage and prescription lenses was about $4k. It feels like they're waiting on the community to find all the best use cases for it and buy more time for when they could release a cheaper version that will be more of a consumer headset. The people who bought it now are the guinea pigs, which is what makes it exciting for the enthusiasts anyways.

      @AndrewSouthworth@AndrewSouthworth2 ай бұрын
    • @@AndrewSouthworth I think it was a wise move to price it so high. It was always going to be an initial test run product that would give them feedback for a later, more useful version. If they'd priced it at a more accessible level, more people in the general public would have bought it, been disappointed, and passed on later models. The price point they set means that most people that bought are in the same category as Linus. Tech nerds that are disappointed, but also excited to see what comes next.

  • A good and honest review, well balanced and well said. I have known from the beginning that I did not have a use case for the Vision Pro. I know my Quest 3 is not on the same level in many ways, but I do have a use case for it, as I like to exercise, play games (stand alone and pcvr) and enjoy watching movies as well, and with Big Screen I can do it with others at same time. Yes I know the fidelity is not on par but once again to be able to watch a movie in a theater with my brother who lives 800 miles away is still pretty cool. I imagine that the Vision Pro has set a new bar and I hope that by the time the Quest 5 comes out, we will have all the pluses of the Vision Pro with all the pluses of the Quest 3. The isolating aspect of headsets really is a huge drawback now, but imagine sitting at a table with everyone and "turning your monitor around" to show something to the group, all while keeping your other windows in place and no one having to stand up or move around. I see a lot of potential with new window types, like a floating display that is always facing you--put it in the center of the table and everyone sees it the way you do! The technology in this device is unlike anything in the world thats on the market and the immersive technological achievement of this device is incredible. Obviously its not priced for the average consumer but I use this as an example. If someone said why would someone ever buy a Mercedes Benz and just get a Toyota Camry instead. The Toyota Camry is 20 to 30,000 dollars less both have four tires and an engine and can get you from point a to z. All thats try but why people buy a Mercedes is not just because its a car but because of the added amenities heated seats, technology in the vehicle, abode surround sound, etc. that the Toyota Camry does not have. Just like the vision pro its priced that way because compared to meta quest the visual clarity, eye tracking, immersive experience is unlike anything out. Not to mention this is only the first gen device and will only get more advanced and better over time with future models.

There's eye FOV, camera FOV, then there is like some kind of fish eye effect from those two values combine. I stared at the 4:34 for a bit to get a comparison to the Meta Quest 3 Optics. Honestly, I'm not too concerned about low FOV for my eyes because eyes fatigue quite quickly. It might be a good eye health thing to keep the eye FOV down. News readers had one, the were being used in supermarket checkouts, people who could just as easily use a notepad had one. 10 years later and I can't remember the last time I saw one in use other than a friend who uses one to read magazines. Same thing with voice assistants on phones. Nobody wants the attention of talking to their people in public. Even at home people in general don't want to talk to their phone. Today it's a forgotten fad. Where tablets got maybe a decade, the idea of sitting in a meeting wearing a headset probably won't get any traction and that selling point won't be mentioned in as little as a year.
