The daughter of Dubai’s ruler who tried to flee the country in 2018 later sent secret video messages to friends accusing her father of holding her “hostage” as she feared for her life.
In footage shared with BBC Panorama, Princess Latifa Al Maktoum says commandos drugged her as she fled by boat and flew her back to detention.
The secret messages have stopped - and friends are urging the UN to step in.
Dubai and the UAE have previously said she is safe in the care of family.

Its very obvious why as well because anyone would want to tread carefully around a bipolar person because anything could trigger them. That's exactly why they said what they did because they knew Robinson would never ask suspicious questions and Latifa wouldn't either because she doesn't want to be in worse trouble and confinement than already is if that's even possible. It's a very tangible excuse actually, could very much be true from Robinson's side

She didn’t care. Maybe it was always effecting her and she was planning her escape for years. Latifa and her sister both tried to escape and failed. The Queen probably studied their mistakes, played the long game and then took the chance to escape when the king trusted her and had his guard down. She didn’t mind selling off another’s woman’s kid to save her own. Plus, her father was the king of Jordan and her brother is the current king. She has another privileged connection. All Latifa has is the same family that imprisoned her. It’s good that she left, but sad she contributed to Latifa’s imprisonment.

I have a sister who is bipolar and with meds, she lives a perfectly normal life. However, I doubt this woman is bipolar, she probably just knows her rights and is well educated. I hope she is released soon, assuming she's still with us.

This is awful. I have no words to describe how shocking and scared this makes me for her and her safety. Freedom to go where and when you please is such a basic right and she doesn’t get that at all.
