  • It’s crazy to see how cocky Francis was towards Stipe vs how he talks about Stipe now. Man went from “he’s scared” to always giving Stipe respect anytime he’s mentioned. One of the press asked Francis who was the best heavyweight after him Jones or Gane and Francis was like “what about Stipe??? He beat me”.

    • Stipe humbled him and forced him to be a better fighter. He's the one who showed him that unlimited power or not if you don't have the skills to pay the bills you're going down hard. Unfortunately for Stipe Francis learned his lesson in that 2nd fight

    • I actually think that Stipe is the only fighter that Francis genuinely respects. He never speaks highly about any other fighter, he does give one line compliments but when stipe is mentioned, you can see the respect he has for him. Plus Stipe was the only one who actually was able to take francis's punch, head on.

  • *Stipe landed 230+ strikes, 14 takedowns and 20 mins of control time.* Most dominant performance in heavyweight history. There was no question, Stipe was the better fighter. Stipe and Francis both started MMA at similar times. Francis was actually street fighting before Stipe started wrestling. I’m sick of people making excuses. Stipe made a split second mistake in the rematch and came in way too light against a bigger explosive guy like Francis. Stipe needed to be lighter versus Cormier but should’ve bulked back up after that fight.

  • The most impressive thing to me is how Stipe absolutely schooled Ngannou at his absolute most dangerous, most intense. Some people imply that Stipe just gassed Ngannou and dominated him with wrestling. But the fact that Stipe completely outclassed Ngannou on the feet as well, while this 265lbs monster puncher was throwing continuous predator drones in the first 2 rounds, was just insane. And that's not forgetting how Francis came back 10x more adept in all things patience, wrestling and cardio and from the moment he entered the post fight press conference after this one he had learned so much of what he needed to do, and took it on board to display those lessons in fight 2. I do wonder how normal weight cut Stipe would do against improved Ngannou.

    • Stipe definitely approached that fight the wrong way. He came in waayyyy too light and he seemed super relaxed I don't think he realized how much Francis had changed and you can't blame him. The fight before Francis just swung wildly and murdered Rozenstruick with no skill at all so there was no telling Francis knew how to wrestle and pick his shots.

  • I wish Stipe's legs were even shorter than this, like he'd be 3/4 just torso with barely any legs beating the fuck out of everybody and getting called the greatest of all time.

    • Oh absolutely. Francis is a smarter guy than I gave him credit for after this fight.. I didn't think he would learn so much from it. He basically even pulled a stipe on Gane.

  • Stipe The Wordsmith Miocic! lol i shouldn't make fun of a guy i have a real world chance of running into someday since i friends with a couple of his teammates. and live in Ohio..he says some really weird stuff sometimes though. His fight IQ is second to none, i guess that's all that matters.

  • Just looking at this fight after the weigh-ins, Francis had to wrigh at least 25-30 lbs more than Stipe....when Stioe was on top you could really see the size difference of Francis over Stipe....but we all know size doesn't matter it's the fight ,will and heart if the fighters .
