How to not quit your job

2019 ж. 24 Ақп.
368 203 Рет қаралды

Ex-Google TechLead explains how to have a better time at your job, so that you can avoid quitting it. The fact is that work can be very enjoyable and relaxing, but this requires careful navigation on your part to chart your course. Having quit numerous jobs myself and seeing others quit as well, it is clear to me that we don't quit companies - we quit people. We quit when there are bad managers that we resent, colleagues who we are jealous of when they receive ill-deserved promotions, or when we've just created our own hells through poor lifestyle choices.

  • I have a tip. Go outside! Even at the tech company I work at, no one is tying me down into my chair. At 2PM everyday, or when I see on my calendar I have an hour or two of no meetings, I go walk outside even if it is raining. It really helps the internal motivation so when I come back indoors into this god awful fluorescent lighting, my mind is ready to go. Like you said, it also helps disengage with coworkers.... which I whole-heartedly agree is a good idea.

  • 1. Don't develop relationships with your coworkers, focus on the technology not the people. 2. Remember that you aren't working for the money but for the experiences and stuff you buy with it. Money is just a number in bank account if you don't spend it. 3. Watch you commute. Don't buy a house because it limits you and might make your commute bad. 4. Look at your current job as a chapter which will eventually pass.

The people who look for life and relationships at work, are the ones with whom people prefer not to befriend/form sincere relationship outside of work. The more person tries to drag you into gossiping, into forming clicks, the more disgusting they typically are
