    • In the song, John describes his crush on a person called Nikita, a border guard whom he cannot meet because he is not allowed into the country. Though the name Nikita can refer to women in other languages, it is a male name in Russian. In interviews, John has said that he was aware about Nikita being a male name in Russian.

  • The song Nikita reminds us my wife's mother who passed away 8 years ago. My wife says the lady acting Nikita looked like her mum and she was called "Nikita" by her close friends whilst the song playing in the years. The song which is one of my favorite songs by Sir Elton John makes my wife sad when she listens because she reminds her mum but nevertheless we did not stop listening.
