  • 20 years into his solo career, Elton John released Sacrifice in 1989 and it was amazingly his first UK no. 1 as a solo artist (not counting charttoppers in duets with the likes of Kiki Dee and John Lennon). It's probably his finest ever song. Hauntingly and pouring with wisdom and insight.💖💖💖💖

No Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Still and Nash, The Byrds .......the list is endless whereas I cannot think of one artist today who can fill the shoes of these people who have graced our lives and enriched us. For those of us who have lived through this wonderful and unique era, we have been truly blessed.

  • This song takes me back when I was five years old. It was a cloudy day when I listened to the song at home. I wondered what would happened in the future or it was the sign for my marriage in the future. At the time I divorced, with my new born baby on my arms, looking at my 2 years old sleeping on the bed, suddenly I played this song and cannot stop myself from crying. Until that day, I understood the meaning of “Sacrifice”. Still a touchable song.
