It is time to go head to head between the Honda CBR500R and the all new 2023 CFMOTO 450SS. We are going to line them up and drag race them as well as compare and review them in this video.
Remember Main Street Cycle is the place to go for all of your CFMOTO needs.
better sound, better performance. I wish CFMoto grow and keep its quality. They are making an awesome job
I agree
And awesome price
No better performance
@@CICO3405 its not what Im hearing about. But I will just know when I test ride it.
@@rocka07 i drive both and CF Moto is by a mile better bike all around! Much better transmission, brakes, speed, screen ,plastic...i mean i don't have a words to describe how good CF done this bike and how much better is than Honda. Kawasaki is the only one that i would think for a while what to choose... for other i will not think single second.
450ss msrp $5,499 and CBR500R msrp $7,299. That's a big difference
Exactly
450sr is sold for $6,250 in Korea
How about the CBR 500 in korea how much then
@@chris_chan6418 In Korea, the price of cbr500r is $6,500, and we are faced with a very unfortunate choice
Türkiye de 179000 türk lirası :)
The 450ss is just so pretty. I love everything about it, and how cfmoto has stepped into the realm of "acceptable" bikes. Everything I've seen, from every bike in their lineup has been good. The literal ONLY complaint or criticism ive seen is parts!
Have been waiting for this bike to show up at our shop, and after setting up, I have to say it's very nice, especially with the price point. This bike doesn't feel cheap at all, really solid, nice runner and good power. I have plenty of my own bikes, but if I had the space I'd consider this as well as the 800 Ibex, which really surprised me with how good it is. I'm impressed with CF moto's bikes so far, compared to other brands they're actually nicer made, fewer cheap parts and well built. A big surprise to be honest.
Embarrassing loss for Honda
@@pigpen65How? The Honda is restricted for A2 license compatibility and has better mpg's
I have the 450sr for 5 months now and I have no complaints in terms of its power. More than capable on the road.
but what about quality? How many miles did you do? I've got experience with Benelli and Keeway and they're piece of crap. Transmission it's like for 5K miles and after that it falls apart
@@misakisaki2682 I have 5200miles in and everything's working fine. I even recently joined a 434Miles Riders Loop and I have no issues.
@@ElCoco1984 I could also say, until you ride a liter bike compared to that 650. But this is not about displacement, it's about the experience and real life application. I live in a place where traffic is notorious, try using a liter bike in that and you're just wasting money. 450cc is more than enough on public roads to be honest.
The real question is reliability, it’s hard to beat decades of Honda’s reputation for reliability
Hard to do, but not impossible... I mean, even japanese bikes got a moment when people said "japanese? no thanks"
well cf moto is collab brand with ktm engineer .. the engine is good i think but the spare part need to see in the future..the more people buy this the more spare part we get..dont forget after market part for cf moto a bit hard to find
even yamaha is partnership with cf moto i see good future in this brand'
yoour reliability is a great excuse to sell a cheap lcd panel for a high price and your honda only got ordinary front shock and single ABS? a cheaply made honda defines a piece of trash that sells a high price because of honda sticker. poor parts of your honda defines a sugar coated brand with a cheaply made parts for a high profit.
@@sixthguardian6914 exactly
that 270 degree crank is doing its job, sounds awesome too
Yeahh, sounds like MT07, R1 and R7 of Yamaha.
Plus, the sound it make, even on the stock exhaust, is stunning, feeling that rawr baby!
The 450 has looks, tech, engineering like what else can you want in a bike. I'm a hard core Ducati or just about any big brand lover but the 450 is making me fall fast for it
😎💪👍
reliability and handling and parts when it breaks, call me silly. no way it is better than ninja 400 and I know they are reliable fast when tuned and can handle racing with out breaking. for same cost, if it was cheaper like some chinese bike may gamble but no way i pass on a known thing like ninja 400 twin for any chinese bike until i see one with 10-20k on it

@@markhancock4775 thank you man. I want to buy a CF MOTO MT 700 and i search info about this brand. I did not see anyone with 50-60 k miles to ask if reability is ok.
Great comparison! You can't beat that value of the CFMOTO!! Awesome Video!!!!
Thank ya man! I agree
yeah put 10k on it and list for sale and see what it is worth if it still runs, half of honda resale with 10k miles. Chinese crap no matter how it looks and feels new it will not last as it is based on old bikes from japan but built with china quality. If that thing lasts 10k miles I will be shocked most chinese bikes I see listed as running are all way under 10k, never seen used one over 10k unless as non runner
@@RT22-pb2pplisten lil man You talking shit about Cfmoto being chinsese junk but let me tell u something some honda parts are from China Some other company's parts are made from China. I’m on a Cfmoto clx700 sport and I’m loving it … ninja 650s stand no chance I smoke them Every time and I have way more tech on my bike compared to them
💪🤘👍
Yes I love the Sport!!!!
I'm very impressed!! CF Moto is holding its own!!!
Man yea!
Had a good bit of seat time on a '19 CBR 500. Bike was slow and soulless, but man was it sharp. Looks, handling, ergos. It was equally as boring as it was obedient and beautiful. I'll maintain that the 500 with ABS is probably the best beginner bike on the market. That CF is a killer competitor for the performance/price... just haven't ridden one.
For me who used to owned 2014 CBR500 for 5 years I'm 100% agreed with your statement. It's a good commuting bike but like you said "soulless". Currently waiting for my 450SR
I can agree with this 100% started on a 21' CBR 500R and the bike looks phenomenal, has a very moderate riding posture, can be flicked around easily (as far as it goes weighing as much as a 600RR) but the bike is as you said soulless. Don't get me wrong the 70mpg when riding normal and not getting on it is beautiful, but I was always asked if I was going to do an aftermarket exhaust and flash the ECU and get a tail tidy, my response was that yes I loved the bike but why put more money into it when I'm just going to trade up. In the two years I had it I put almost 10k miles on it and never had any issues. It's a great bike but just gutless and won't scratch the itch when you want to crack the throttle.
Nice comparison. I wish they had teh 450ss out a few years ago when i was getting into bikes. I would have 100% went with that instead of a Ninja 650.
It’s a great option for sure! Thank you
You can still buy it as a second fun bike.
Body weight always makes a difference but its more noticeable on slow bikes like these
maybe you mean small bikes not slow bikes
@averilazurbatoy6853 I mean both small and slow, there are few slow big bikes and even the slow ones have more torque which deals with more weight more easily. Small bikes lack torque and and pretty slow 🐌

I have the latest 400 NK that pulls the front wheel off the ground thru the first 3 gears and loves the higher rpm range.
Holy smokes this is a great video comparison. Any ninja 400/650 riders in your group I would love to see how the 450 ss stacks up
Thanks man! I hope we can find someone with a Ninja soon that we can ride with and see
My 450 walks away from the ninja 400. Its the quicker bike.
@realtalkmotorsports do plan on any tuning, being available for this bike?
had our NK400 Last year, already pumping 13k miles on it no issue!, we are planning to grab this one because of that aggressive looks, but thanks to Kawi on releasing the Zx4, we are now having a really tough time to decide which to get first!
zx4rr all the way
@@goldwally1428 the ZX4RR is barely more powerful than an Ninja 400, so it's the worst bang for the buck. The 450SR is the better deal, and for the price of an ZX4RR, an Yamaha R6 is an better option.
@@alanpereyra5503what do u mean barely? the ninja400 have 44HP vs ZX4RR that have a 77HP? what barely? lol
If you have the money, zx4r everyday, otherwise cfmoto 450, cbr 500 and ninja 400 are still very good.
@@aseryo5457 On normal riding conditions, you'll barely feel the power of the ZX4RR unless you're always on the highway revving it out higher. It makes most of its power higher in the rev range. Unless you plan to take it on the track often or are always riding on the highway, the CFMoto 450SR or even the Ninja 400 makes more sense. On the twisty roads, the CFMoto 450SR and Ninja 400 will definititley smoke the ZX4RR being the first 2 bikes makes more torque down low.
CFMOTO is really starting to surprise me. I didn't think it would have kept up with the Honda.
It did great 👍
In all fairness the CBR500 weighs in around 425lb...for a parallel twin. About as much as my CBR600 F4i (435lbs wet). The CF Moto is about 394lbs wet. If this 450 SR came out around the same time as the Ninja 400 here in the US....I would've gotten that instead of the 400 to be honest.
@@xTHEYCALLMExGx The power curves for the CBR and 450SS are fairly different. Theres some funky extra power around 8k RPMs in 4th gear that you'd probably not reach on a short drag like this. Color me surprised that it easily kept up though. Max speeds are clearly another result entirely. (Not that it really matters. Nobody is riding max speed on the streets unless they're one of those idiots who drag race on the highway)
It's great that other brands are bringing their motorcycles into a market historically dominated by Japanese motorcycles. That should bring down prices. That said, I would probably buy the Honda if the price tag were not so ridiculous. The difference in ride quality can be too much (Hondas are refined motorcycles) even though I do not doubt the CF dominated the CBR according to this test.
Yeah, just like how China phone brands did on the smartphone industry especially the XIAOMI. XIAOMI's reputation now has risen! CFMOTO is becoming the Xiaomi of bikes.
The CF Moto are great motorcycle's, I've owned 4 different models over the last 3 years, they are a very reliable motorcycle, the only downside is the resale value, i live in Europe and the general feeling is it Chinese. The other concern is the last CF Moto I brought which was the 700 CLX Sport, the following year the price for a new one was reduced by 250€ ?, this will make you think before you buy.
Yeah they always reduce the price once it's been out for a bit. People who really want it on launch will pay more
Hi there, I think what’s happening is the same that happened when first Japanese motorcycles came to America or Europe, those were compared to german, english, italian motorcycles, it’s a question of time
love the look of the 450ss. looks premium.
Well here's my take. The 450 is track ready bike, lighter and high speed tranny whereas CBR500 is a much heavier cruiser touring sports bike with low speed tranny. the 500r is also just 20cc higher but with heavier parts. he's also not shifting properly throwing all those peak power band. Weight: 450 HP: 450 Torque: 500 Price: 450 Features: 450 Looks: Subjective Overall performance: 450
Great info and input brother! 💪👍👍
thank god someone other than me noted the excessively bad shifts.. I'm sorry to be that guy but hot damn..
i love when new companies kick the big dawgs, more competitors better for consumer
See me in 10k miles that bike will not kick or crank
@@RT22-pb2pp all these foreign companies investing and building outta of china, you don't think the Chinese took those skills and used it to build their own machines? it's going to be the exact same quality as the competition if not better and cheaper. the Chinese have so many goddam ppl, and the labor is cheap ass dirt.
I wonder how well CFMOTO will do in Australia with this machine? I did a price comparison with the ninja 400 and there was only about $500 difference. I think a lot of people here still stigmatise Chinese built bikes, but clearly the reviews are starting to really stack up in the positive.
Using 450ss for daily, it is really good
That is great 💪👍
What's the distance of this drag race test? I wanna see both bikes go at least a quarter of a mile or max out the last gear to the limit.
Nice video. It would be nice to get an overall view of the engineering+design quality.
Thanks for the idea!
Damn it, the biggest problem is finding a dealer. Years ago I bought a CF Moto Fasion 250 which is a Honda Helix clone, It was a good scooter reliable, Next thing I know the dealer went out of business, Now I have a scooter that no one will work on and I have been unable to sell so I have a scooter that has been sitting in my shed for years.

would you say this would work as a fun daily commuter?
I personally believe so 💪👍
back aches like a 60 year old
How do you get the cfmoto up to 80mph in 3rd gear?
Obviously there's a better pilot (smoother clutch and gears usage) and the other one is just heavier on both bikes. You can't tell unless it's the same pilot who tests both with chrono 🤙🏻🤙🏻
The CBR500R is a heavier bike in general, while making the same power as the 450SS… also they swapped pilots and the CFMOTO still started pulling away. The guy who rode the CBR500 first is heavier, mentioned in the video. Yet he still won on the 450 SS… the 450 is definitely a little bit quicker, watch the whole video if you don’t believe me…
Where they get you is that CF Moto adds shipping on after the fact. Unless it was just our local dealer. Nice products though
All dealers add shipping and setup. I've worked in dealerships for years.
Hi. Can I please ask, I've got a new 450 about a month ago and I was wondering do you get a uncomfortable clunk or thud when you change gears? The gear thud or clunk is worse on down shifts. Does your bike do this on gear changes? I've taken the bike back to the dealers and they tell me this is normal. Do you get the same thing?
You should have gotten the CBR500R. I'm sorry 🤪
I have no issue with who made it as long as they cared about making it. I may see about getting my son one of these before he gets dads GSXR

please make dyno this 450ss,
The only thing is one of the riders in this video looks to be about 2-3x the size of the other. These bikes are going to be super sensative to massive weight differences. The big rider was on the cf moto for 5 races. Where the honda is 50 pounds heavier. So now you have the cfmoto actually rider & bike atleast 100#’s heavier. Where 99% of the time the cfmoto rolls up on another bike and its gonna have a better power to weight
both fellas chunkier so we can appreciate the torque and power on both
That cfmoto is really good
the guy on the black hood under shifts while the guy in the red and black power shifts that why he gets more leverage on the power of the motorcycle but dang the cf moto out performs the japanese bike, even swapping the 450ss could catch up even when its under shift. maybe has to do with the power to weight ratio of the bike since the cf moto is lighter.
Bravo
💪👍
CF Moto for sure. Problem is that if you follow whats happening around the world CF moto parts back up and aftersale service is not looking good. Not enough trained mechanics around the world. In some parts like South America peeps are stuck looking at bikes while they wait for parts. But yeah when they run they run gooood and they look mad sexy!!!
Ducati has no maintenance available in many countries, but no one complains.
@@believeingood5875 The difference between owning an exotic and something mass produced from China is that both are expected to leave you on the side of the road at some point in time but atleast with an exotic you look cool doing so. I know this because I've owned a few and have been associated with race teams and motorsports of every nature for over 30 years.

I think it's just looks basically.
i could bet my life on 450 st the beginning! I drive CBR 500 and sr 450 and it's not even close.
I guess it is much better to test it if both drivers are on the same weight. Weight actually gives a huge difference regardless of the torque advantage of 450SR to CBR500. Weight should be identical.
they are both rather large but yeah, the one guy in the hoodie is forsure 30-50 lbs more

Why not a top speed run? Faster acceleration can because different gear ratio or different sprockets .

Agree, not everyone wants a 1400 sports tourer or Hayabusa, the mid size GT650 ticks a lot of boxes.
That poor clutch with those shifts.😟
Yeah that honda won't last
450SR is a rocket 🚀
everyday sportsbike vs track ready bike. I'd take the CBR, the engine is bulletproof. As for CFMoto, it need to show good aftersale support and engine reliability for few more years, then it'll become one of main players alongside Japanese players. i just dont want that 'disposable bike' stigma.
I traded in my cf moto 650 adventura and bought the bike in this video. I love it and yes they’re one of the most reliable engines in a lower cc sport bike.

I think the real issue that they was having is that the dude on the 500 he ain't as good at quick shifting than the other. Cuz even on the 500 he was a little slow on it. That will make a big factor in the race.
Gotta love that Chinese econony of scale
cbr500 had more weight + less compression ratio if honda made this cbr500 race ready like the cbr250rr i think this thing can have 55hp on crank
It's like the 70's all over again, except this time it's Japan being caught resting on its laurels. It's only a matter of time before India enters the sports midweight market in a big way as well. That's going to mean a sudden rush of innovation, which can't be bad for riders.
Red jacket just has better experience for racing on hitting the gears at the right time, no matter what bike the 2 ride.
Lol did you watch the video.? He lost using the CBR500.. he's the better rider but the better bike actually made a difference..
@nadstengco2591 yea.? The better rider didn't have as much of a gap when he lost. The other guy would have a whole bike length or more when he lost. That's all I was talking about. The 450 seems good, just to see if the wife will switch from her 500 to it now. 😆
@@scottneal2738 meh, you were implying he's just plain better like the bike didn't made any difference when he clearly lost using the CBR.. the comparison is with the 2 bikes and not with the 2 riders hence why they switch bikes..
