The 911 GT3 with the Manthey Performance Kit was able to unleash its full potential on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the traditional test laboratory for sports cars at Porsche. With Porsche works driver Kévin Estre at the wheel, the modified GT sports car ripped round the 20.8-kilometre course in Germany’s Eifel region in 6:55.737 - 4.19 seconds faster than the standard 911 GT3 did a year earlier. Both vehicles were equipped with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres. The lap time was certified by a notary who was present on site.

6:00 what an incredible and brave mini carousel exit. Great driving as usual by Kevin + I don't know the suspension handle it. In GT S, GT7 I usually stay inside throughout the mini carousel. Exist early and wide is very easy to unsettle the car, little bounce and jump sometimes cause the car go one full car width wider then anticipated and crash. Couldn't believe someone pull that off with a road car.

Aber auch nur Kevin, das hat man dieses Jahr beim 24h Rennen wieder gesehen. Der geht ab wie ne Maschine aber wenn dann Mal einer von den Kollegen fährt ists dann auch wieder vorbei. Einfach ziemlich schwer das Auto im Dauerzustand an der Grenze zu bewegen, sagen ganz viele. Kevin kann's :)

Absolutely amazing lap by Kevin, he started turning into Schwedenkreuz at 260kmh, what on earth!!! With that being said, I believe there is still some time left on the table here, I think this car is capable of breaching the 6:50 mark on a really perfect lap.

Everyone is running better times at the ring; even with the same equipment. They resurfaced a few spots and shaved down a bump or two. Now you can go flat out in two/three spots more.

i dont understand why kevin wasnt driving gt2 rs MR too on the record lap, if you watched gtr 3 rs mr lap record and gt2 rs mr lap record you can see that kevin estre in gt3 rs mr had much more minimum speed in corners then that guy who lapped record in gt2 rs mr. I think kevin would likely did faster lap in gt2 rs mr then that guy. It could be 2, 3 secs faster then it is now for gt2 rs mr
there were 2 records set with the GT2RS MR. one was 6:40 for the short route. Another later lap was set even faster at 6:38.8 for the short and 6:43.3 for the full length, so 1.5s faster. Even when comparing the faster lap with the GT3RS, indeed for many corners the GT3RS MR had higher min corner speeds. Few reasons for this. 1. The GT3RS is lighter, so should be able to corner faster. 2. The track was hot, 41 degrees for the GT2RS, so the driver couldn't push the tires as hard, especially early in the lap to give the tire more life. The Cup 2R tires are qualifying tires that wear down very easily and normally give their best performance for the first 2-3 minutes. A colder track meant the gt3RS lap was able to pusher harder and longer. 3. Different driving styles for different cars. A slower car needs to maintain as much speed as possible in a corner because it takes a longer time to gain back. A faster car can go down to a lower min speed, turn and be on the power earlier. At the end the GT2RS MR was still 11s faster, despite the unfavorable conditions.
@@DonLee1980 yes you are right that conditions werent the same. I thought that gt2 rs and gt3 are the same weight. But i think it doesnt mean that you have a faster car overall that you can go slower in faster out of the corners.. if you are going for record you need to have minimum speed higher as possible, in some corner yes you can gain back that time when early on power but in faster corner like flugplatz and schwedenkreuz you lose time by not having best possible minimum speed. But yes if car is lightrr you can go faster but i dont think there that big diference in weight like was in minimum speed compering these two laps. Last thing i dont know where you found degrees of track. My suggedtions was arising from what i saw gt2 rs was laping in the evening as you can see its shading and on gt3rs video is more sunlight.
On the edge driving leaving nothing on the table with a few heart stopping moments!!! Wow!!! However I think the bean counters at Porsche Headquarters could spare a few for a decent camera for recordings. Seems like it came out of the 90's era? All that I can do now is to replicate the lap on Assetto Corsa and hope to set a decent time,lol! That's the only way I can afford this beast!
