The way he made the Gaethje fight look like I was watching it in 1.5x speed was insane. No wonder Gaethje was gasping for air on stool after round 1. Idk, Gsp is the better striker by far, but that does not matter to a guy who has a chin like khabib. I would say the guy who has more takedowns would win. 50:50 for me.

    • People of Khabib era always side with Khabib, but if you lived through the GSP era as well, you understand how good GSP was. GSP fought several guys that dominated becaues of their wrestling base was so dominant, and GSP came in there and just destoryed them in take downs, and ground game. So people have no idea who good GSP was. Also GSP trained under Dannaher in NY, with guy like Gordon Ryan, and Garry Tanon. And all thoes guys gave GSP nothing but props for his ground game. And everyone who grappled with GSP said the same thing, his strenght is super human, he fights like a might bigger guy as far as when he grabs you his strength doesn't feel real for a guy his size. Khabib never fought anyone like him. And Dana knew this, which is why he didnt' let GSP anyhwere near their golden goose at the time. Dana knew what GSP was capable of, and didn't want their big draw to be ruined by GSP. There is a reason why guys from Dannaher's Death Squard dominated the BJJ stage. Gordon Ryan easily best BJJ athlete ever, besides possible Richson Gracie. So you take that, and the fact that GSP trained with olympic team for Canada in wrestling as well, and that package was able to dominate guys who were known for their ground game previously. GSP if he fought a striker beat them at striking, if he fought a wrestler he beat them at wrestling, if he fought a bjj guy, he won by sub. He was extremely brilliant at finding people's weakness in their strengths. And attacking them where they had never been attacked before... I give GSP in his prime the win for sure. But by the time they were going to fight, GSP was already 40+, so it might have been Khabib simple because he was more in his prime.

      @Arrogan28@Arrogan2820 күн бұрын
    • @@Arrogan28 It is true. People of Khabib era will have that effect but it is to be expected. Khabib has always dominated and never lost or shown any sign of troubles. The only time Khabib looked normal was Tibau and even that turned out that Tibau was roided to his gills. As for GSP, he is the best clean GOAT I have seen. All you said abt GSP is true and I have seen all his fights. His wins and his losses. Even the Hendricks fight. The guy is a supremely gifted and a rare talent and again, he could take Khabib, but age is not on his side. Khabib looked only better at the end of his career. Who will win? We are all speculating at best. I tilt towards Khabib cuz of his age and mental toughness advantage.

  • GSP is absolutely correct. He had the size, strength, stamina, and well-rounded skill set to beat Khabib. I think he would have beaten him by decision fairly clearly, and then I think the fans would have begged for a rematch, and I think GSP would have won that as well.

    • @@LetsGetitBoah Usman? Oh yeah. Khabib could fight at welterweight but would be a little undersized. Usman is a pretty large welterweight. Not monstrous but pretty big. Usman’s size would win that. GSP is the same height as Khabib so that size matchup might be a little more even, but GSP has always been very muscular and heavy in the upper body. He fought at middleweight and despite being 5’10”, he didn’t look small for that division at all. Khabib would have fit well in a 165 pound division, but both Usman and GSP probably would have been among the biggest fighters in a 165 pound division.

But what's also really funny is there is a GSP interview with Joe Rogan and he was telling Joe that one of the things he did when he was reviewing BJ Penn's fight footage was measuring how many "frames" it took for BJ to react to things. lol

I don't remember him ever actually really hurting someone with his flying knee, but he always threw it when guys were against the fence and he wanted to close distance between them... Always thought it seemed like a weirdly predictable and potentially vulnerable thing for him to do, and I'm surprised no one ever caught him coming in. Even in his last fight, Gaethje saw it coming and got away from the cage, but I always wondered if it would have been feasible to drop him with a straight punch as he came running in.

  • Unless MMA has regressed from GSP era to Khabib, you have to expect the next gen fighter to be better. BUT... maybe it HAS regressed in a way. Maybe there's this dip in the quality of fighter between the time guys did it cuz they loved it and/or lived it, and the time guys did it for money and fame. For example, guys like BJ Penn and Anderson Silva would still truck through their divisions today. But, Khabib HAS done it for love AND lived it... maybe that's why he was so dominant...and George. I think that's what makes this fight so fascinating... its a clash of men who dominated their divisions with true devotion to their art. But here is where i think Khabib has the edge and ultimately why he would win. George was obsessed, he trained harder and smarter than anyone else... but Khabib BELIEVED. Khabib lived in the mountains, wrestled bears as a child, and fought a thousand fights in what has turned out to be the mma mecca of the world, Kazakhstan, before he ever stepped foot in the UFC. Some, probably real life or death situations. He had a loving supportive, devoutly faithful family. His mind is steel and aligned with his soul. Which if you've ever seen someone perform an impossible physical feat with the power of their will, you understand how meaningful this can be, both in the ring and with the discipline of training. George even talks almost entirely about the mental and psychological side of the those who fought Khabib well. Technically speaking, GSP has incredible takedown and top control, more variety of striking, but his guard has looked sus. Khabib can "chain wrestle" and take the grappling anywhere he wants with a lifetime of experience and picture perfect technique, and his striking is good enough not be exposed, and dangerous enough to let him wrestle.

And there is no MMA Mecca of the world over there….. there has been very few MMA champs from that area …..especially when compared to North and South America….. USA or Brazil have each had 10 times as many UFC Champs as all of Russia. The MMA Meccas are these countries .

    • Khabib didn't stay long enough to prove he is the greatest of all time. And that's the truth of the matter in this situation. You can't just dominate for a couple years and leave, that's not how it works. If you retire on top and reign supreme for a decade at the highest level like very few did, I will reconsider him to be the greatest. Unfortunately for him, other fighters did exactly that. I guess you could say he was the best in that division during his time.

Lets not forget iaquinta took him 5 rounds on a weeks notice and by rd 3 or 4 khabib couldn't take him down anymore. Let's not forget, he should've lost to Tibau. Let's not forget how he avoided ferguson like the plague. Let's not forget how often he missed weight or how he was afraid to go up in weight to fight people his own size. Let's not forget how many of the nurmagomedovs have been caught on the juice. Prime GSP wins 8/10 times for mine, hell Iaquinta with a full camp prob wins.

Conor being unpredictable, Gaethje incredibly hard hitter. Khabib admitted many of his fights were tough because he knew his opponents could land a big hit anytime on him.

Definitely a winnable fight for GSP if he could hurt Khabib first before any takedowns. But if Khabib gets his hands on him and hasnt been hurt then its a hard fight for GSP to win at that point.

    • @@orinorio1 I mean there is no shame in losing to Matt Hughes, GSP was still very new to the sport at the time while Matt Hughes was the P4P #1 at the time, it makes it all the more impressive than GSP completely outclassed him twice afterword's though. The first Matt Serra fight GSP got clipped, it happens to the best of fighters, still does not mean Matt Serra is a better fighter than GSP as proven in the second fight when it was complete domination from start to finish by GSP. What I'm saying is when it came to someone who compete and even negate Khabib's grappling it caused him major problems, if Gleason Tibau could counter Khabib's grappling offensives I think GSP who's bigger and much stronger than Tibau has a good shot in negating his grappling too, coupled with the fact GSP still holds the all time record for most takedowns of all time landed, most top position time and more control time in UFC history I think it leans in GSP's favor due to his strength, athleticism and Gas tank (this is assuming the fight takes place at Welterweight).
